Hey guys, I'm here to watch Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng with another episode of Road to Ranked. Where he climbs the online Series 2 VGC ladder in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, providing live commentary as he goes. In this video, I will watch him try out a team featuring Light Clay Sableye and Bulk Up Leftovers Ceruledge. As always, I will watch him do a quick breakdown of the team. But I will not skip quick to the battles by checking the timestamps down below because I will watch the full video. Thank you so much for always making videos. I enjoyed, so I will appreciate by leaving a like and subscribing to help out a ton. Anyways, let's get started.
Finally people are catching onto this Sableye set. I’ve been using it for a while now. Screen teams should center around bulk. No need to try and outpace your opponent. I would drop bundle and flutter for bulkier mons like Gastrodon, iron hands, corviknight, or even sylveon. Also, Sableye is already so passive, I found it best not to run another passive mon like Amoongus on the same team. Encoring an opponents water move on or after a gastrodon switch in is a lot of fun!
QOTD: My favorite Ghost type pokemon is Shedinja! It's not only a super hilarious gimmick with its ability that leads to some hilarious nonsense, but it's also just a really cool design, visually, how you obtain it in-game, and the basic concept of this shed husk that gets back up from the ground and starts moving around. Overall it's just super cool and I like it! Also, the meme of Air Balloon Shedinja with Tera Electric is fantastic. Not usable in game right now (Or probably ever, I doubt they'd allow Shedinja in Scarlet/Violet with how Tera is set up.) but just the concept of it is hilarious.
Great battles! Love seeing the viability of Pokemon with overall low base stats, like Sableye. Really proves that team building and strategy can hold its own - thanks for sharing, Aaron!
Those second and third games were incredible. Love the visualization to see the path to victory in the 2nd game, not to mention following through with the plan. And I don't know how in the world you're supposed to come back from feint Maushold / Glimmora. That was a nasty combo.
By far my favorite team I've seen you use in scarlet violet. Ceruledge is new to me, and I'm in love with it and that bitterblade, physical fire move is badass. Sableye is my hunyboo from emerald to this day, and who doesn't like dragonite? This team is awesome and Id forsure use it!!
I spent so much time building a strong Ceruledge team, and now I'm convinced I found a hidden "Ceruledge core". Not only my team, but also this team and even those we saw at Knoxville have this exact same structure: -Flutter+Dragon (dnite/chomp) for damage outpace. -Bundle to improve vs Arca, Dondozo and rain. -Amoonguss/Maushold (the first to bait tera grass, the second for shadowball mindgames). -Something annoying/disruptive in terms of pacing. Grimmsnarl is fine, or even Corviknight if you have Garchomp. And apparently Sableye as well lol
Finally, ceruledge was featured by Aaron! Ceruledge is my fave pokemon for this gen. A grass tera is also good to make it more defensive against rain team.
Just a few minutes after watching this video I faced the rental on my match before hitting Master Ball this season. The double edged sword of these showcases if your opponent happens to also see the video lol. So thanks for the assist getting me into Master Ball in that sense!
Hey it would be amazing to see u testing the wind team with bramble ghast from weedle tweenedle it's incredibly creative and I wonder how good it is for competitive
I literally just played against 2 of these on ladder before I saw this notification... makes sense now 😅 Ceruledge was a pain but luckily pivoting Arcanine and positioning Haze Palafin correctly won me the games but jheeeeze this was unexpected😅
How is that Glimora trained? I would love to see a video where you cover a team with it cause it’s by far my most favorite Pokémon from this gen. Especially the shiny version
If they’re not gonna bring back megas anymore than they really should add some of the stat buffs that some of the pokemon got with it like Sableye. It really needs more defenses
I don't see how the absence of megas means you should buff pokemon that had mega evolutions. Access to those stats cost an item slot and you could only have 1 per battle.... Just buffing them for that would be crazy. Like why should they give Tyranitar more stats? Not to mention Mega Sableye functioned a lot differently then Sableye because of the ability change. I would agree tho that some of the pokemon that happened to get megas deserve base stat total buffs. I don't understand why Sableye and its Ruby counterpart Mawile have lower BST then Butterfree
Really cool vid! Your explanations are really thorough and informative but also engaging. I always like your vids of fun strategies such as these or ones which feature an uncommon pokemon like the latest vid featuring the Grumpig team. Your vids are a huge reason for me buying a switch lite a couple months ago and getting into competitive Pokemon, thank you so much for that! QOTD: Banette lol I play a lot of Hoenn, and so getting one for the final spot on the team at mount pyre is always nostalgic. I’ve also decided to try it competitively, as it actually hits quite hard with choice band and can move first with priority despite being pretty slow. Also, though cursed body is good and all, with frisk Banette can actually gain information to help get value out of its knock off and trick. So far I’ve got it to great ball 8.
your knowledge inspired me to start training to be a dark type trainer and make content aswell , one day ill get to be ranked on the ladder master ball 🔥🤟🏼
QOTD: I absolutely adore Trevenant, my favorite ghost-type Pokémon! Its design, both in its regular and shiny form, is stunning. Additionally, I find Phantump's design and shiny form equally captivating. What's more, I'm particularly fond of Trevenant's abilities, Harvest and Natural Cure, as they perfectly complement its nature as the 'Elder Tree Pokemon'.
I used Armarouge a lot and had success with it, but I prefer Ceruledge’s design. Looking forward to try this team with it! Definately one of the best designed Gen 9 Pokemon. Bitter Blade is pretty cool for it to basically get a physical fire type Giga drain. QOTD : Gengar ! I also love Giratina and Gholdengo
As always your RtR content is 🔥. I'd love to see some OTS content too if you can fit it in to see how the approach changes. Since the OTS tournaments started, in-game ladder feels like particularly bad practice for actual VGC events. Maybe some showdown laddering and hoping opponents accept OTS? Or OTS bo3 matches with friends/other competitive players? I especially feel like idk how to approach team preview in OTS, I feel like it's so hard to read and absorb everything on their sheet fast enough to make a good decision for what mons to bring.
I am watching this as I prepare myself to play Pokemon with it's latest version. Been waiting for this day to come. Still waiting for my Pokemon Violet order tho hehe.
Ive been running a similar team with success. Similar ceruledge except with Tera grass and safety goggles, similar amoongus including clear smog and iron bundle as well. I have a supportive tyranitar with lum berry rockslide, crunch, helping hand and taunt, ancient donphan with sash, standard set, and a gastrodon Tera poison sludgebomb, chilling water, ice beam and recover. It’s super effective and largely unpredictable. Lead fire types struggle, indeedee armarouge loses, dondozo is playable, and perish trap rarely works. The biggest weakness from my experience is boosting dark/dragons, so ancient salamence, garchomp, or even an offensive hydreigon if you lead poorly
QoTD: My favourite ghost.. Rotom, it's cute and whimsical, and has the neat gimmick of haunting household appliances Wow that third game, that's a crazy cool team on the other side
QOTD: Ceruldedge is quickly becoming one of my favorites this ranked season. I've been seeing quite a few of them on the ladder too. I am hoping it can still find a place after the ruin Pokemon become legal. It does get Close Combat, so maybe??
It’ll honestly feel really strong on Chien Pao teams and Chi Yu teams, Chien Pao softening physical defenses for it and Chi Yu because you’re most likely running Sun on those teams which Bitter Blade will love.
Hey guys! bDarnandy here and today I'm back watching another episode of road to ranked where he climbs the online Series 2 VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes.
Hey Aaron! I recently got into competitive Pokémon again after years and I'm loving your team breakdowns! I'm learning and relearning things again. Btw, is Sableye strictly the best dual screen setter for Cerulegde or I could use other Pokémon like Grimmsnarl or an Aurora Veil setter?
QOTD: that's tough, there are so many good ghosts. I would probably say Shedinja, while I do not expect it to show up in the current gen ever I just think its design, evolution method, and gimmick are all really neat. Second place probably goes to Mismagius, just because the big witch hat look is great.
Qotd: Gourgeist definitely my favorite, I feel it's an S tier design. Being ghost and grass but also a Jack o lantern is sooo good. Golurk a close second
I bet the Glimmora team trainer was Santino Tarquinio, who won the 2020 Player's Cup. The team he built for that tournament was probably my favorite team in all of Sword and Shield, with a Wide Lens Weavile that also had Feint. I'd be really surprised if it wasn't the same Santino here because his team was awesome and he played out of his mind.
I found this team used in another video too. It's so similar to the team I've been using except I created it more with anti-setup strategy and it seemed like bulky Ceruledge works well into Paradox mons. My Ceruledge is Grass Tera Blast with Life Orb, and Sableye has Snarl/WoW instead of screens. Snarl is spammable into Indeedee/Armarouge. WoW can be used on your own Cerulege to trigger Flash Fire if Sableye really has nothing better to do.
Aaron Cybertron Zhang here and today hes back with another episode of road to ranked where he climbs the online Series 2 VGC ladder in Pokemon scarlet and violet and provides live commentary as he goes
I'm using this team and i reached High positions very solid team ,maybe gholdengo e roaring Moon Is a bad mu autoloss but it's very strong against almost the majority of the teams
QOTD: Tough one because Ghost is my favorite type. So many good choices. I do have a new favorite since Gen 9 is here, though, and that's Skeledirge. It has such a cool inspiration and signature move that's gonna take some real work on part of the design team to top. Super fun to use in both VGC and Singles, too.
QotD: For both personal reasons and competitive, Mimikyu. It's really underrated in best of one CSF. You can run it as support, attack, special attack, or a combination.
Game 3: I think the safest time to switch Sableye out was Turn 2 instead of Reflect. The chance they'd target that slot was as close to 0 as possible. Not sure it is the right play, but definitely an option.
QOTD: that's between Gengar and Shedinja. The trade evos (especially the four original ones) hold a special place in my heart because of how badly I wanted them as a kid and how strong they ended up being once I learned how to trade with myself with an emulator. Shedinja needs no explanation.
I’m curretly playing Ceruledge in the exact same way, just the spread isn’t the same and i playing with Klefki dual screens. I’m reach to 152th on ladder with this guys and i think it’s really strong. Ceruledge being my fav mon in this gen I’m very happy
I'm in the middle of watching the first game, and Sableye and Ceruledge just look absolutely dominant. I would have been so frustrated to be on the receiving side of that with no team sheet.
Babe, wake up! Aaron “Cybertron” Zheng is back with another episode of Road to Ranked where he climbs the online series 2 VGC, ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, while providing live commentary as he goes.
QOTD: My favorite Ghost pokémon is Mimikyu. It has such a cute motivation, and its ability was super OP and unique in Alola (pre-nerf, but it is still very good)
