This run just feels so nice compared to what Cast or Pass: Blood Incantations Vs. Aberrant (Thorn) Sorceries will probably be. I wish you luck for whenever you decide to tackle those.
@@legendarywolfgeneral5572 Yeah, but he has to beat Sewer Mohg with Swarm of Flies to get Bloodflame Talons, and Sewer Mohg is immune to status effects so he'll probably need the help of the Dung Eater to defeat Sewer Mohg.
Loving the slow evolution of Tulok's Malenia commentary as he does more and more runs and gets better and better at the fight. We've gone from "waterfowl dance is literally unavoidable damage" all the way to "you *can* dodge but the windows are extremely tight". True growth!
I fell asleep watching one of the longer Tulock videos and had the most vivid dream that he was my roommate and I asked him what D&D was and he beat the shit out of me for some reason, like really went to town on me, stepped on my hands and everything. Needless to say, I triple checked that I am subscribed and will never ask anyone what D&D is.
Fun fact about Dynast's Finesse: The dodge and the thrust are directionally independent, meaning the thrust *does not* have to be directed in the opposite direction of the dodge. Actually leveraging this in practice has a bit of a learning curve to it, but it means you can dodge to the side (or even forward) and still attack directly with it. This can have very funny effects when dodging *towards* an enemy that's chasing you down and thus not at all prepared for you to be in their face shoving a giant needle into it.
2:30 I am a professional knife maker, and was literally shaping a knife handle as I idly watched this. (Not dishwasher safe!). I thought to myself, “You know what? I fucking appreciate this man.” The joke upgrades (lore, etc) have not gone unnoticed among the crew. So, there’s a compliment for ya. Keep it up! GOTTA SET THE TONE, BOYS.
I’ve actually had a drill needle go through my eye (actually it was a spade bit, a drill bit with 3 sharp ends.) and seeing as I can only see due to it getting caught on the side of my eyes, and despite that I have like one fortieth of the vision in my right eye. The giant wouldn’t be happy
Fun fact, Dynast’s Finesse is actually so good that you could use it in place of a regular roll. There was a challenge run done by WornOutGamer4 where he could only use finesse to dodge
The energy this video has compared to the last few (even before the cast or past) is so refreshing. Feels like you got the spark to create again. Could just be me tho. Also this isn’t a secret starting class 😤😤😤
Phil, this vid in particular was fire in comparison to the past few! Aside from that, I'd love to see a barbrarian, in fort Haight. I think it would be a great way to bring the whole joke full circle
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 Very much so. I like the humorous style you do for the lore description when everyone else reading the lore reads it like a Yale historian. Always provides a very good laugh when you do it Edit: Also, this channel and this channel alone got my fiancé interested in trying Elden Ring because she found your videos informative and hilarious. So as a Soulsborne fan I thank you
Is nice to have a pause in the suffering and good to see this was Helice focused. Not that Reduvia run 2 wouldn't have been fun to see if you found any new tricks for it. Not sure if it still works now, but the Helice reminded me of the Antspur build I saw where someone made it do bleed, rot, poison and somehow got frostbite in there. Know it is not really viable for a starting class cause is just one person using it, but is not casting spells at least XD.
I've just finished watching a few videos on 'the convergence' mod for elden ring and OMG i would love to see you do some of your builds in that mod because there is like 40 starting classes that seem SO COOL i really think you would enjoy it and i would love to see you play it!!
@@snottytoe6957 dammit, i really feel like he'd love all those crazy starting classes to create even more varied character runs -_- guess he has to move to PC now ;D lol
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 You should do a secret starting class 'Guts' since you can literally get his sword in like 2 minutes lol and the nights calvary armor looks close enough
As a Rykard enjoyer, what I enjoy is purely the spectacle of bonking him on the head with the Serpent-Hunter’s insane style points, plus the overall visuals and aesthetics of the fight + the arena. If I fought him for real as many times as you have I definitely would not be a Rykard enjoyer anymore though 😂
So, I have been playing the Souls Series for 15 years now, and I just figured out yesterday that thrusting/heavy thrusting swords have a feint mechanic. You just press the dodge button while charging a heavy attack and your character will do a swipe with a back step. If you ever use the helice again it might be helpful to chain the feint with the weapon art.
Every single time I hear you say spells are bad, I think of the Convergence mod; where you can drop a nuke that destroys every enemy in an entire area and deal 10k damage to bosses. Or summon for free. Or cast permanent buffs that boost weapon builds. Or break a bosses' stance over and over with spell spam so they can't do anything. I love the Convergence mod. Please give it a try if you get a chance; I'd love to watch you enjoy spells.
Should have saved the Garth Merenghi quote for the Morgott fight! "Something was pouring from his mouth. He examined his sleeve. Blood? Blood! Crimson, copper smelling blood, his blood. Blood, blood, blood... And bits of sick."
Watching Fortnite gameplay feels like somebody puking melted Funko Pops into my eyes, but I’d gladly encourage you to take your channel in whatever direction you’d want. Hell, I’d watch the videos anyway.
Hey Tulok I love watching your secret starting class videos I die laughing everytime , I have a suggestions for a video. A Gelmir Knight, the armor set can be acquired without killing any bosses and then all you have to do is farm weapons from knights to get the knight's greatsword or partisan and a shield if you want and use stormcaller aow. I did a run like this inspired by your videos and I had a blast would love to see you do a run with it. Keep up the awesome vids bro
In my first several run throughs, I dismissed the Reduvia. Mistake. Just did a run-through with it and carried me through most of the game. The only thing I added was something for range. Gonna have to play with helice. My only concern with it is lack of aoe for mobs. Pack of dogs, etc
You should try a lightning build. Dragon Cult incantations, weapons with lightning affinity which scale off skill, Bolt of Gransax, Lansseax's Glaive, fighting enemies in the water and/or when it's raining for free attack boost. I've been having loads of fun with mine.
It's funny, I actually kind of agree with you that weapons are better than spells/incantations in a lot of cases.... Unless it's Night Comet, most spells are basically dodged by every enemy that can dodge. I did a "pure spell caster" run as my first one and.... Yeah for some fights. I cheaped out and used Moonvale. (Which later I traded out for Wing of Astel.) And my runs afterward used mostly melee weapons. With some incantations here and there. And... yeah, my two best characters are a Banished Knight's Greatsword user with Braggart's Roar. And a twin Bandit's Curved Sword user who uses a few incantations. Mostly buffs, occasionally the Crucible Tail and Plasudisax's Roar for Godfrey's phase transistions (and similar things.)
Phil as much as I love Elden ring, I watch your videos for you and your jokes, I’d love to see you branch out to other games, especially if you’re getting tired of Elden ring
I actually played my first play through of Elden ring with a build just like this except for a few things, though it was pretty much the same. I personally enjoyed it a lot, though I'll admit it can be a tricky way to play the game, but if properly skilled, it can be very OP. The Bloody Helice is just a goofy weapon, but when you learn the ash of war, it can be so useful in dodging attacks and punishing them after.
I think the Rykard Hellphase is purposefully painful because they dont want you doing that fight without the snake poker. Youre gonna do their gimmick, and youre gonna like it.
I love your commentary about spells vs. weapons, it mirrors my own experiences perfectly. Melee-only runs are so much easier because they're so much more simple. Attack and dodge, that's it. Juggling spells and distance and two different flasks, as well as splitting your stats and needing like 3 mandatory talismans is just too much. I love spells but for me relying on them in a build is like hard mode.
I’ve been following these Elden ring playthroughs for a while, and I’d love to see Phils reaction to the gameplay in Armored Core 6. Id also be lying if I said I didn’t want to see him exoerience the glory that is the Ashmead Pile Bunker.
Hey, speaking of Rykard and his shit spectacle fight; you’ve never done a Bernard run! Pretty sure you can get his gear by killing him at the beginning of the game, yeah? Though the Foreskin Twins would be an absolute nightmare without him.
Magnus the Beast Claw starting class would work, it'd be like the beast incantation run but with a melee weapon, which is exactly what you recommended in that playthrough
I might have missed it but are the stats and talismans shown in these secret starting class videos? Some of them look pretty cool but I wanna see the stats and talismans otherwise I'd just be guessing lol
Okay tulok, I hope you're ready. "Ng+, Gideon Ofnir" but other than his hammer, is you want to use spells, you have to beat the rememberence boss. Like his mechanics in game
