I like that he distorted his voice less and less as the movie went on. Not only that but his demeanor changed as well. Went from a stoic, menacing figure to an awkward, fidgety guy was a clever approach. Practically the antithesis of Bruce Wayne and Batman.
The actual threat got bigger while he became less threatening, classic villain mentality. Making the people think they've got a hold on him and he's at his most vulnerable but that is exactly when things will start to become even worse for the heroes later on.
I like when he's captured he sounds like an insecure defeated child at that point but when he realizes Batman really didn't figure out his plan his voice becomes more "echoey" it has a more eerie sound.
i'm going to be honest, i thought it was a decoy or a riddler's fan when he said "Hey guys" Until he started to scream and laughing i understand it was Edward Nashton becoming Riddler
Unironically, i really loved the fact that he has a channel and followers etc. It feels super realistic that someone who commits murders aganist authority figures has a huge following and stans/mindless/devoted people idolizing him. (and the following he has is twisted and as evil as him, which doesnt make the comments of them appearing in the other scene more believable etc etc)
It was unsettling. Made you question just the level of sanity this guy had with what he was doing. When you have someone unhinged doing something with a purpose... that's exactly the person you should fear...
You know, despite the humorist change, that is kinda scary. The thing about real life serial killers is that they can be anyone. Your neighbor, your parent, someone you met at a store, someone famous, you...
I love this treatment of Riddler. It makes the persona more terrifying by imbuing it with a sense of reality, especially given the rise of terrorism by internet weirdos.
People laugh because of how awkward it is but like, everything about Riddler is a real world reflection of how people, often times estranged white men, feel let down by society to the degree they enter echo chambers of radicalization and violence until it starts warping their reality. And even if there’s only 500 followers that they amass, all they need is to incite a good 10 or 15 into some action

Probably a bit of the "I can fix them" mentality, but I guess there's probably something alluring about liking a character who could, uh, probably kill you at any moment. Everything was an act, even when he supposedly was being himself. The facade didn't even break when he was interrogated by Batman, he was actually playing that role so well that Batman was convinced he was just insane and nothing else. Joker even points this out in the extra scene, they're both alike and its obvious, they're both so wrapped up in a persona and don't know who they are as a person. Which is why so many point out that Batman is the real face and Bruce is the mask, because if Bruce was really himself all the time he wouldn't know how to adapt to anything but being a vigilante. This is where you see the change happen, or at least it starts towards the end of it. Bruce know's if he doesn't alter the way he does things people are going to die in mass, and its going to be his fault.
I've rewatched this movie 4-5 and every time I burst out laughing when Riddler goes "No no no no no NO Aaahahhahahahahaaa this is not how this was supose to go!!!" 😂😂😂😂

I bought the mask he wears, it's a USGI Arctic cold weather mask, I use it up here in the Arctic, it works great, thanks riddler Oh and I also use it to MOG women at 2am in a parking lot while they are walking alone to their car, works great for that too
I found it creepy and scary in a real and visceral way in that Riddler was just an average messed and disrurbed guy. He would shout and scream like a lot of disturbed guys... but this one had turned to killing people. I know that was the intention, so I'm saying it worked on me. I can see how people found it funny... but I didn't. I took it very seriously...
What took me out was that little greeting card. Who TF was supposed to have made that lol. I kept picturing Riddler sitting on his floor doing arts and crafts
yeah that makes sense, joker doesn't give that scary vibe, rather a really, really deranged individual, while this masked riddler is more of a figure and less of a character (that we get to see later on the film) and works extremely well given the whole context of it
He felt more real. We’ve all met a guy like Dano’s riddler, but it’s rare to meet someone like Ledger’s Joker. Both are scary, but only one is a threat I might actually face

I actually thought that reveal was pretty perfect for the Riddler as a character. Puts on a great performance for the big show, but at the end of the day it’s theatrics and he can be disturbingly average (but still obviously cracked) when he’s “out of character”.

I love how on the surface this Riddler is so different from the comics, dark, stoic, murderous, and menacing, but ultimately it’s shown that he has the exact same core: an egotistical manchild trying desperately to look smart.
