This is one good solution and nice use of the law. You can also just put a floor before the ramp, that makes the placement work every time without aiming down (if the extra 10 mats are not a problem).

This is a good point! A few reasons why it might still be worthwhile (or not): if you don't need to quickly follow up with anything, offsetting difficulty for later can be useful. Additionally, all movement past the cursor space is free, which means that you get better value on edge movement than on other cursor movement. If you wanted, it would be possible to sit down and calculate the difficulties for different combinations of moves using Fitts's Law to determine when going for the edge to place builds is worth it or not, although generally speaking it's probably better to just go off of personal feeling instead.

dude you were like 1 step away from inventing crosshair placement in fortnite, 1 of the most important mechanics in the game btw where you move the crosshair the minimal amount while building and editing to maximize efficiency and make it easier to hit shots
