Done Birkscairn Hill last summer and the ruts were hard enough then never mind snow, had a great time riding Gypsy Glen too ebiking it on steep sections makes a difference, will head back some point soon thanks for sharing Jamie! 😁
After 30 odd years on normal peddaly bikes hellfire I love E-bikes , a lot like the trials bike stuff we could ride 20/25 years ago , just get out there 👍👍👍
No ebike title… glad I didn’t get stuck in a field 😜😂 awesome vid! Enjoyed riding there the other week. Some decent features. That first send from Andy was huge off that drop!
🤣🤣🤣 Yup. I'm treading dangerously. I just hope no one repeats this ride on a normal bike and gets inadvertently stuck in a wet field... Andrew was flying. Some lad 👌
We were just up there on an Edinburgh Mountain Bikers FB Group ride on Saturday and it was great - I'm on ebike but not everyone was, so props to those that climbed it! It's was super sloppy and wet but great fun - I think it's an excellent place to learn some Golfie style trails - but man there is also some crazy stuff in there! Will definitely be back in the drier weather - really cool seeing you both ride it as recently as we did.
My mates had a secret Scotty trip and instead of riding Cademuir they sessioned the blues at Glentress on eebs. Definitely got use out of those range extenders 🤘🏼
The new blue is fun for sure, but eebs feel a bit lethargic on them. If folks are up for it this type of riding deffo utilises the assistance of an eeb really well 👌
Great video man. I visited Cademuir for the first time on Friday, it was so wet, safe to say I was all over the place. Looking forward to going back when it's a little less wet & slippery lol.
Nice this is the exact type of video why I'm looking to buy my 1st ebike, late 40's n the turn n burn of an analogue bike with racing injuries is no longer that appealing or pleasurable, but that looked like an awesome day out packing more in than u wud on a normo bike, thanks for sharing 🤙
Looked like the perfect day for eeb , great selection of trails and I guess you don’t mind losing height so quickly on those fast open sections when you’ve had assistance on the climbs 🔋👌. And those trails toward the end looked absolutely mint fun 😎
Cheers buddy. Kermit is a really clever trail. It's got some really cheekily placed roots so you really have to think. It's a really good addition to the hill 👌
Ruts are nerve wracking as is. Ruts under snow is giving me PTSD just thinking about it! 😅 And then Andrew just flies out of view like the laws of nature don't apply for him. 😂 Cool ride!
@MindfulTrailBiker So I'm pretty strict at alternating between the two. I find that it reminds me that climbing on a proper bike is really difficult, but it also hammers home how fun they are descending. My feeling would be that you would lose some of your fitness very quickly if you just went eeb, and then returning to the normal bike wouldn't be fun. I'm not saying you can't get as fit on an eeb. I think it would be possible, however the commitment required would be huge. The reality is that eebs are great at improving your zone 2 and base fitness, also descending endurance. However, you have to go looking for high heart rates in my opinion where they happen quite organically on the real bike. Does that make sense?
@@streetpigeonmtb makes perfect sense! The disciplined approach to riding both at all times sounds like the formula. I do most of my zone 2 training running and then rely on the usual mountain bike rides to provide the multi-zone hits with the needed zone 5 for peak fitness. Didn’t really think about the increase in descending endurance which off course makes complete sense but I hadn’t thought about it in that way. Climbing assist but your doubling your descend time and suffering that fatigue instead. Great stuff!
@MindfulTrailBiker yeah! I hadn't thought about it either but I'm noticing big improvements on the descents. Just not getting at all fatigued like I used to 👌
Regarding "cheating" with ebikes; I always remember a reply I saw on a forum, where the poster of a cheating comment was asked if they only rode single speed or used gears?😂
@@streetpigeonmtb UPDATE > Just had to go today and these trails a try - boy oh boy was I not dissapointed. What a cracking spot for a session on the eBike. 🤘🤘
It was 37km on full charge and using a mix of eco and trail. It's more about total ascent. I'm pretty sure the route we did had 1350m of climbing which is solid 👍👌
Great video but you’re terminology on riding an e-bike is “ cheating”…..who are you “ cheating”….other riders, yourself? From the noise you can hear you got a workout up and down! We all love riding bikes and if you are having fun on two wheels….happy days
I agree. It's all about having fun. After hours of driving to get to these places, e-mtbs allow you to ride far more. An e-mtb at Golfie, is way better than a day on the uplift at Bike Park Wales.
