Metallica is a metal band... they started as Thrash/Heavy metal band with some progressive traits, they were never full on thrash band. They have hard blues rock here and there, but this album is very like classic heavy metal and speed metal combined with that Load/black album style... People just calling them rock because they aren't super fast or thunderous like many generic thrash metal bands nowdays... We can hear so much Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Merciful fate, Misfits... vibes on this album... Sounds very similar to Garage inc... It's just that today metal morphed in whole other style then it was back in its' hayday... Also, most lyrical themes in the songs don't fall in the rock style category... I was reading comments where people called 72 seasons a rock song....😕
That's why i never want to be a metalhead/metal purist because i won't be able to enjoy anything if i became too judgy. I listen to other genres too other than rock/metal as long they click with my taste. Thank god my taste in music isn't restricted into one genre only.
I love the solos on this album, they’re not that great technically, but I like them. What I love about this band is that everything sounds like them, the drums sound like Lars, vocals and riffs are 100% hetfield style, and the solos of course classic Kirk
4:25 haha, I like how everyone’s nervous b4 the kirk solo. But I loved this solo, 3rd best solo on the album for me, 1 - inamorata ( last one ) 2 - screaming scuicide 1st solo 3- Sleepwalk my life away
Metallica has evolved to the style that suits them best , and I think it’s working for them . They still incorporate the best in the past with the new.
AMAZING how well you can hear the bass! THIS is currently my favorite song. I am a bit Bias as a Bassist to this song thew bass is SO FAT but then again this entire album just feels like the FINALLY turned the bass up in the studio. I definably dig watching your reaction to Metallica stuff. EASY my favorite all time band GOAT for me. But I enjoy your open minded take. Seems if you didn't notice that he DOES actually lay off the whammy its not in EVERY solo this time.,., But i'm not big on solos anyways i prefer a good rhythm album with no solos TBH for me FANCY is a good rhythm and vocal like this i don't need to see solos on every song. Also not "jamming themself into specific shapes" THAT IS WHY THEY ARE MY FAV BAND! Open minded and not all the same as the 1st 3 damn albums... I'm not crazy about bands who NEVER stray or try new things #MetallicaRules Anyways thumbs up thanks for another great reaction VOD 🤘 #HornsUp 🤘
This is a metal album straight up. May not be super thrash but it's the best they put out since BO. Death Magnetic was thrashier, but in all this is a solid album from Metallica in decades. Takes a few listens but the best albums in history never sound balls out the 1st run. Keep that in mind kids.
I love this set of videos (the first 5-6 they put out with the "band playing" and the noises at the start and end). Not a big fan of the others. Some of these songs are like amplified late 90s songs and I love it.
I was wondering. Have you heard the Kirk Hammett EP Portals? Cause his stuff there is just excellent. Like day and night compared to what you are listening in these new Metallica songs.
It's mostly about Kirk Hammett the composer and producer, than Kirk Hammett the guitar player...., even though those few solos there have some more feel to them...
They were hinting and reflecting so much on this album... Inamorata and My friend of Misery, Room Of Mirrors and Broken Beat And Scared.... Lux Aeterna and Hit The Lights, Chasing light and No remorse... and I heard some more hooks and tweaks that resemble older songs... Also the parts that remind of Sabbath, Mislfits, Iron Maiden.... It's like they were doing it on purpose as the album theme is about your earlier past, and how it reflects and shapes your future....
Cool reaction I didn't like song in beginning but after 10x listen to it it GD for my ears Been fan since 84 so I seen the best awesome 👍👍 of Metallica in there career this Could be last decade for them hopefully one more album from them
Good video, enjoyed the opinions! Something about these songs feel a bit "old"? Maybe it's just other genres of metal but other songs I listen to feel less repetitive. Gives me Death Magnetic vibes though.
After watching your reactions, I've noticed a common theme - Kirk's solos. This probably doesn't help, but Kirk did not write the solos from a technical standpoint on this album. He listened to the tracks laid down then went wild, letting his emotions and the music take him where ever it did. That's why his solos have been so erratic.
Then live he can play whatever in solo part... For example there are few solos you want to hear him pull off live... Like Fade To Black, Sanitarium , One, Unforgiven, MOP, Dyers Eve.... Those memorable ones... On other songs he can play whatever just if it is in chord progression...
Really sucks Kirk came out and Said that he is Just gonna Use Pentatonic’s because it’s the “Hardest” to make Solos because only 5 notes and basically Just Shat on Sweep picking and said He “Knows” his Modes but really makes it sound like he’s a 60 Year old man just Hating on the New Kids instead of Evolving and Learning new tricks.
@@Chainbrain i actually kirk's solo fits metallica's riff quite perfectly. I've been playing guitar, and listening to metal music for like 15 years and kirk's unpolished - raw, very raging pentatonic style of solos are best fit to metallica's straight forward in-your-face styled riffs
@@Chainbrain I agree it’s his Style and I guess to me he just sounded arrogant and with the comments about Modes again it just sounded Arrogant. I just wish He would get out of the Pentatonic Mindset and come at solos a little differently with some new techniques. Because it just sucks when he solo’s, everyone just goes “Yeah Just another Kirk Solo”. I know that in my Original post it sounds like I’m Shitting on Kirk but it’s just more of Frustration out of anything.
Kirk’s solos are so boring. Just sounds like he walked in blind and played the most basic pentatonic crap without any planning. The guy can do better so that’s what makes is so annoying
100%. this isnt even comparable to his outro solo from fade to back (his best of all time imo). the melody is what gave it the soul (also: absolutely insane that he wrote that in his early 20s)
I like this song, maybe that vocal hook the most. But it's the weakest on the album, probably. Feels like the one song that's a bit forced. They wanted that, 'single' sounding song 'a la sandman/king nothing'.
The guy that can't hear what tuning the song is in......... but wants to add his opinion or criticism..... you lost me there and any real musician that was following you. Spend more time researching Bosley
