In Iran we got introduced to him with Maria... it was big here too, especially among the youths. Being very similar to you Latin folks culturally and musically, I remember we adored him for what he had brought to western music in terms of liveliness, style and taste! I mean, at parties, as soon as "un, dos, tres,..." started playing we would all just start shouting along and dancing in groups. Then the world cup happened and the rest is history... we love him here. This very performance though was the single biggest game changing moment for any artist, Latin or non-Latin, in the history of the Grammys as everyone later confessed! NEVER have they ever had seen such a performance on Grammys stage and he changed it that night FOREVER and FOR EVERYONE!

Loca and loco are the same word it's just in spanish when you are referring to a man or women the word changes a bit like perra and perro both mean dog but the "a" one is referring to a female dog while the "o" is referring to a male.

@@elbatorres6113 Hi Elba. To start, sexuality is not a preference. As Lady Gaga has so eloquently informed us "Babe, he was born that way". I don't think anyone would argue with you that he is perfection. It doesn't matter if he's gay, straight, pansexual, bisexual, etc. My comment was to point out that a lot of women wanted to have sex with Ricky Martin. Gay men did too and when he came out, gay men rejoiced, and women were disappointed. The mast majority of women or men would have very little hope of every; 1. meeting Ricky Martin, and 2. having sex with Ricky Martin if they did meet him. I think it's kind of funny that women were disappointment and gay men rejoiced. My comment was not meant to disparage his sexuality or cause any controversy.

Yes! Absolutely! When this song released back when I was a kid, I loved this song, and knew the lyrics by heart. But listening to the song again later in life as an adult, makes you realize just how much I didn't understand of the song as a kid! 😆 The same goes for "Macarena". The lyrics just hit so different as an adult, vs when we were kids. 😆

You should look Ricky up when he was a kid and a member of the Spanish boy band Menudo so you can compare him then and now. LOL! I also remember him acting on the soap opera General Hospital back in the days when he had long hair. He used to sing on that show too if I remember correctly.

The "she" he's talking about is a drug. "She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain, she'll make you live her crazy life, but she'll take away your pain", "She'll push and pull you down", "She will wear you out", "She took my heart, and she took my money", "She never drinks the water and makes you order French champagne (cocaine is usually mixed with alcohol to bring one down and stay balanced), once you've had a taste of her you'll never be the same, yeah, she'll make you go insane". And the title is Livin' la vida loca which means Livin' the crazy life, it's all right there, just like his song Maria which talks about "someone" who's white as day and will kill you if you fall in love with her (cocaine overdose), the chorus is "un, dos, tres, un pasito pa'lante, Maria" which roughly translates into "one, two, three, a little pass to the front, Maria" meaning taking a line up the nose.

It was not Spanish in-a-gadda-da-vida is a rock song by iron butterfly it means in the garden of eden so like Eve she tempts him to sin it’s a reference to this 60’s psychedelic rock song - Ricky Martin as a Latin crossover artist just showed his deep knowledge of American culture in this reference and it makes sense with his lyrics and psychedelic rock is the right reference because this woman is intoxicating
