GG Kenji, I was (and still am) the sponkmonkey. Was surprised to get matched up with you after hanging out in the stream beforehand and figured I’d make it into a tuber video. I sandbagged the star for the single Skyfisher Spider I had in that deck, although I suspect spending it on a Fracture would have been a better play. Sword of the Meek is pretty good with four Combat Couriers, do recommend
Drafted 3 infiltrators, 2 strongbulls, a Thraxodemon, 6 removal spells, Gix, 4 acrobats and 3 sibling rivalries with other bits and bobs and managed to flood all 3 games. Felt fucking bad man.
I had 3 excavation explosion in my deck and drew ZERO in 3 games 0/3. 16 lands and drew over half my lands every game... each game was progressively worse the last going to turn 8 where I had 8 lands in play 1 in hand and 3 in the graveyard... 4 lands left in my deck out of 23 who coded this fucking shit-show.
Too much removal runs a risk of flood, from personal experience. 4 removal is generally okay, unless it serves other functions like ramp, or is unconditional. Also, Sibling rivalry is pseudo-removal, 6 on top of that? That's just asking to get threat starved.
I cannot say the same ahah it is certainly difficult, but most games have been anything but grindy. It's been a very fast format with BR in all likelihood being the premier deck, making the bigger value-oriented green decks very punishing to play if not built correctly
Any consideration for Moment of Defiance with Precursor Golem? Draw 3 Gain 15 life? I know you don't rate the card, but it's fine without the golem also
Had a fun game where I cast moment of defiance on my opponent's precursor golem to find outs, and then my opponent did it back to me and we both had jade golems and another golem on the field by the time they did theirs so they decked themselves. Perfect card, rated 5/7
I made a draft with 3 thran vigil and the black worm that mills 3 from own deck and pulls a monster, as well as the 5 cmc black white uncommon and the 2 cost rare recurring zombie, and plenty of cheap unearthers. I thought this deck would be a joke but in average I have 2 thrans out each game and am getting 2 +1/+1 counters per turn or more
got teferi my very first time drafting. thought I was the goat for going 6-3 but now I'm learning I was just carried. welp at least I know not to expect it to happen again (ever)
I managed to do it with a altar of dementia instead of the strongbull, felt like i was wielding the mightstone. Almost timed out because of arena though
What does that combo do? Strongbull I know that on 1 colourless does one damage. Suchi when it dies it gives you 8 mana. But I can’t figure it out. What am I missing?
i think the word /phrase on the tip of your tounge was " sample size ".. you were tryin to say you have a high win rate with a large sample size. which gives the win rate more credibility
There must be a way to not get mana f*cked in this game. Maybe have an x times per match you can seek a land card from your deck rather than draw or something. Though that won't help the flooding issue.
I learned that limited formats want fast efficient cards. I enjoy living the dream with cards like Urza but you're probably losing if you jam these fun explosive cards
I drafted Portal to phyrexia twice and cityscape leveler once. A lotta easy wins. Maybe not easy but if the bomb is alright and the deck makes sense this format has no problem to make them work (high quality removal, lots of value and efficient filter effects, powerstone ramp)
Not necessarily. It is also pretty common to draft some removal and to get a control-into-bombs deck. In fact, bombs are much easier to play in limited than in constructed since the games are still much slower. If you look at Kenji's DMU drafts you will also see a lot of 5-color- big stuff decks.
Suddenly everyone is forcing red-black sacrifice decks. All the sheep are trying to make a good red-black sacrifice deck and end up none of their decks being good because they all draft from the same pool and they split the good red/black cards. In a single draft run of seven games, six of my opponents played red black sacrifice decks. It was very fun and satisfying to crush them with my green black base color deck.
There's some pretty compelling uncommons for R/B sac. I think an unchecked Altar or Junkyard Genius will make for a pretty easy game; can kill opp with any trash. Are there more compelling Commons across WUG to choose instead? I think there's an aggressive GW build, that punishes expensive removal with 1&2 mana hexproofs. Unearth is a nice thing to fall back on when the shuffler is doing it's thing
@@NumotTheNummyYT Generally speaking... If its open like it happened in your run, it's fine. I was a sheep myself several times trying to force it when I realisized everyone is going for it. Red-black sacrifice decks are good only when are NOT played by everyone. Also the game is fun when there are variety and options. Magic offers 5 colors to work with.
Love your content, but for everything thats holy, hover over the cards you pick for a little longer! Beginner will have a hard time reading the cards you pick or not pick and it is a pain to scroll everytime.
