Very excited for this episode of Road to Ranked where Aaron Cybertron climbs the online Regulation F VGC ladder and provides live commentary as he goes - featuring a really wild team with a ton of surprises up its sleeve
Bro, thanks for these videos. I listen to them on my commutes to work. You describe it so well that it feels like im watching it while only listening. I learn so much.
Very happy to see my team showcased on RTR once again:) This team was made for preparations to Global Challenge, a BO1 format online event. If anyone wants to try them out on the ladder always try to act as if you're playing a fast standard rain team haha Thanks again Aaron for sharing this team! P.S. Hope you had fun at READY TO BE😉
Hi Aaron! I know the importance of knowing your viewership, so I wanted to shout out that I LOVE the 1hr+ videos! I'm just one guy but I'm getting serious about VGC and the insight you bring is so amazing. When you're playing a game with literally hundreds of variables, you need all the tidbits of information you can get lol. Rooting for you 😎😎
In the Explosion calc at the end you forgot to add the Choice Band rather than the Life Orb, the Crit still ends up mattering if they have bulk but : 132+ Atk Choice Band Tera-Normal Regieleki Explosion vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gouging Fire: 169-199 (93.3 - 109.9%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
I think it would be nifty if each of the Power EV Accessories gave like a 20% boost to their respective stat in exchange for lowering speed. I think for the speed and HP ones you could do like a 20% damage reduction or increase in in exchange for a similar boost in speed. This could mix up traditional trick room teams and a sort of B-grade scarf to some bulk. Thoughts? Clean look! 😎
20% is absurdly broken. Imagine like Ursaluna Bloodmoon with this idea and that special attack boost. The main counterplay just doesn’t exist anymore LOL.
Some great games and loved this team, Choice Specs Pelipper especially. A Bo1 strat I really liked was Freezai using Fire Tera Blast Trick Room Farigiraf in Smogon Champion's League Week 3, 2023
Really cool team. It is always fun to play around your enemies expectations. Just wish the youtube(?) compression wouldn't make the video look like 480p half of the time.
Really cool to see Brave Rapid strike in a TR setup team. I didn't have a min speed one so I ran Room Service with acrobatics to deal with the grass types back in reg d
I went VS this team today on showdown and hadn't seen this video yet, i complimented the guy on it and he was telling me how it's his original team with secret spreads etc LOL
Hey hoping Aaron or somebody in the comment section can answer a couple questions for me. Would it be smarter to have room service as urshifus held item so that you aren’t stuck being the slowest on the field when trickroom isn’t active ? U can switch out to lose your speed being lowered … or is there a reason power anklet is better for these circumstances? Also does a power anklet make u slower than room service would? Thank you and thank you cybertron for showcasing teams and always having great videos!
I tried Urshifu with power brace about 2 months ago on one of my many trick room teams. It was fine. What really was useful for me was Camerup with Power Brace time ago as it can do tons of dame with Eruption and Earth Power
My favorite mon from the gc was coaching riolu. My team didn’t do well at the gc since I had made it an hour before it started, but coaching riolu + water ogerpon is soooo good. Additionally, a lot of people don’t realize riolu gets rain dance + sunny day, so it’s such a good surprise. I ran sunny day to help flutter + chi-yu, bit next gc I’m definitely running rain dance instead to power up ogerpon even more >:)
QotD: Back in SwSh, I messed around wiith a team using Dragapult, Terrakion & Zoroark. Now at team preview this looks like a standard beat up/justified combo… but it was actually WP Dragapult & Zoroark disguised as Terrakion w/ side-sucker punch & Burning Jealousy. The amount of people that quit when their prankster T-Wave failed against “Terrakion” 💀
Now that we've seen Maranga Berry absolutely pop off, is there any chance we see Kee Berry in a future team? (For those unaware, Kee Berry is the physical counterpart to Maranga Berry)
Maybe, it'd work well on any high def mon w/body press especially but Urshifu will be a perpetual thorn since crits ignore it (and it'll mostly be for ladder shenanigans instead of tournaments since they're open teamsheet)
QOTD: 1) Sturdy Mirror Coat Avalugg 2) Latias Psych up + Stored Power, after leading with Smeargle with Moody and Minimize Alolan-Muk with Power of Alchemy
Oh... This makes so much more sense now... I don't know if I ran into this specific team on the ladder, but I did have a confusing encounter with an Urshifu that outsped my Incineroar in my own TR. I ended up winning anyways, due to having 2 slower mons besides that with Torkoal, and A-Exeggutor, but that certainly was a surprise Edit: Just checked my recordings, and apparently I misremembered, I did not run into this team in particular. A bunch of Gholdengo, Farigiraf, Flutter and Urshifu, but none with these 6 mons
long time viewer here, it's the first time you look too good to actually absorb the video today👀 it's a shame cuz I really like the team but plz take this as a (strange) compliment! also QOTD: beat up Arcanine! I used it in past seasons and get some good results! when everyone back then is using support Arcanine and offensive Maushold it's easy to set up! (some ppl won't even notice the lack of intimidate lol)
The difficult part is to get 0 speed IV Urshifu, especially if you already got 1 and maxed its speed. Funny enough i got myself 0 speed Walking Wake and i am planning to make it work under trick room.
what do you recommend to climb up the doubles ladder? Since I generally wait for a good team to be showcased after the new season started, but in this season not a lot of team were showcased by Aaron and they were all "niche" teams I always assumed it wasn't good to use a team showcased in the previous season, like a month before, as meta tends to change
All the people in the comments talkin about the glow up didn’t see Cybertron at Knoxville lookin like a GQ model. I watched the Stuttgart stream a while back and was so impressed by how hygienic and put together most of the players looked. American Pokémon players need to take better care of themselves
I'm really curious why Farigiraf is zero speed IVs but not -speed nature. Is that a mistake or is there a notable bench mark between the two in and out of trick room?
The nature gives you a 10% boost in a stat right? Why are you not choosing a Jolly nature Regileki and no investement in speed? Then you have a overall higher stat total right? Because +10% with that speed stat is 220 speed
Google pikalytics regulation f vgc and if you go to the pikalytics site it should have the usage percentages and you can see common items/moves/etc. You can change format as well on the site I just find it easier to look for the format directly in the search engine
I imagine it's so pelipper is moving first outside of Trick Room to deal with amoongus rage powder. A good tera Amoongus seems pretty tough for this team in general
