Every EV video I see has 10 comments claiming you’ll have the repeatedly replace the battery, yet every “my Tesla has 150,000 miles on it” video is like “yeah original battery and still get 90% of the range, it’s great!” Love to see these cars age pretty well!

To be fair, I have seen some cars go to like 300,000 or above and never have issues, and then I've seen some that are replaced 3 times before 100,000 miles. so its kind hit or miss from what I have seen for the battery.

I have a 2018 3 performance with 180,000 miles in Cali. 99% supercharged. I haven’t tracked it as much as Kyle. My degradation is around 11%. Definitely not 15%. A used version of this car is the bargain of the century.

I am disappointed that the cooling valve is not yet replaced. Would be nice to see how it actually performs in warmer weather road trips at this high mileage without the valve issue when charging.

I picked up a new Model Y Long Range 2 months ago and was seriously debating getting the performance. However, I decided that long term the extra 30 miles of range would mean a lot as the battery degrades and 0-60 in 4.8 seconds is damn fast already. I am able to pass people on one lane roads as though they're standing still and 95% of the time, I drive "normally" anyway. I didn't think the performance was practical, the range was more important.

I love my ‘21 M3 SR+. Best bang for the buck. Plenty speedy and powerful enough to get me in trouble! 😂 I’ve got nearly 40k miles on it and they have been trouble free miles. Just got a new set of Nokian ONE tyres installed about 2k miles ago, and loving those. My efficiency has improved over the stock Michelin’s from 237 wh/mi to 231 wh/mi since the new rubber. No complaints there. I’ve been up and down and all around, including a 5,500 mile round trip from Sacramento CA to Louisville KY in this car, and love it! I’m so glad Jordan mentioned the capacity in the M3. It is amazing! My wife, our two teenage boys (14 and 16) and myself have gone in vacations of 2 weeks in the M3. All of our luggage, along with a Modern Spare tire and charge cable and adaptors and tire inflator and cleaning gear and more, has fit in the frunk, the trunk and the sub trunk - leaving the passenger cabin just for hoomans! Sweet! Great video! BEAK has many miles left and it’s great to get these updates!

Serviceable, fixable battery rather than replace the entire set is essential. The GM Ultium may offer that.

But still Ultium is massively overvalued marketing stunt by GM. No real or true value for the buyer or the car.

Came here hoping to get a comprehensive review of Cost of Ownership for a higher-mileage Tesla (I own a 2020 Model3). - 140K miles might be high for a Tesla but compared to other brands like Toyota...not really (speaking from experience as former Toyota & Lexus owner) - So the repairs/items needing repair include: - Cracked top glass panel - why is it cracked and what's the replacement cost? - RH upper control arm - LH upper control arm appears to need replacement - "Suspension has also been replaced" -- what exactly was replaced? - Missing underbody panels (that apparently are affecting aerodynamics and vehicle range) -- what's the cost? - "Cooling is a little bit compromised", "coolant valve issue" -- sounds like this needs repair, too -- how much? Would really like to know how much these repairs cost? Hearing all this, I'm not feeling great about the future longevity of my own car....

I bought a 2018 model 3 dual motor with acceleration boost, 80k miles, $25k. It does 0-60 3.5s (draggy), plus I’m getting pge/irs rebates, it should be under $20k after rebates, which is a bargain for the performance and efficiency. Only issues I had is upper control arms and lower control arms. Note: Early 2018 model 3 dual motor had same rear motor as performance model, it’s literally software locked, acceleration boost unlocks most of it, just initial 0-30mph is slower, after about 50-60mph it’s the same as performance with acceleration boost.

Just looking at the price scale, if you want the performance and don't mind used, the sweet spot seems to be mid 30s. There's one locally I see for 36k that is a 2021 w/ ccs/heat pump/fsd/37k miles. That's a decent value over new especially if can't figure out a way to claim that new tax credit. You can get a 2018/19 down in to the upper 20s but I'm just not sure the value is there with the later improvements for not that much more money.

Great point 3:24 there should be a metric in the diagnostics that can show a user or potential new owner what percentage of kwh charged where L1, L2, or L3 (supercharging). This intel will be key to help sell EVs in the used car market.

Tesla has been making vehicles since 2008, while Honda has been making vehicles since 1946. The difference in years of experience is important here because you still have broken parts in a machine with almost 100 years of experience. This brand is still in its infancy and is breaking barriers.

I'm surprised that you get much range with the heat set to 74º and 73º and no heat pump. I usually keep mine at 64º or 66º because I have a 2018 Model 3 Dual Motor and the heater pulls a lot of kilowatts of power. I would love to have a heat pump, but not enough to get a new car to pay for.

The false assumption that supercharging is bad for your battery persists. The research is done, the studies concluded. Supercharging DOES NOT negatively impact battery life. Driving like a maniac and flooring it over and over does though. Would never consider a performance model ever. Bad drivers.

Thanks for the video! I am looking at buying my first EV and tesla (been a fan since 2016) and am a car enthusiast so I want a performance to get track mode etc. Looking at 2018 Model 3 P stealth with around 80-90k miles, that way I have some powertrain warranty until 2026 and 120k miles. Hoping to get one under 25k next year to get that 4k tax credit at POS. I am very budget constrained as I am an engineering college student that wants to escape a money pit gas car Ive had since I was 16. Hoping prices will come down if highland comes to NA next year maybe. What do you guys think about something like this versus a 2017 Model S 100D? I love Model S hatchback, comfort, and looks but wont be as quick or fun. Air suspension scares me at high milage though.

for the rest of the world: The biggest reasons the U.S. hasn’t adopted the metric system are simply time and money. When the Industrial Revolution began in the country, expensive manufacturing plants became a main source of American jobs and consumer products. Because the Imperial System (IS) of measurements was in place at this time, the machinery used in these factories was developed to size in IS units; all of the workers were trained to deal with IS units; and many products were made to feature IS units. Whenever the discussion of switching unit systems arose in Congress, the passage of a bill favoring the metric system was thwarted by big businesses and American citizens who didn’t want to go through the time-consuming and expensive hassle of changing the country’s entire infrastructure. Many also believed that the United States should keep its particular system, setting it apart from other countries and symbolizing its status as a leader rather than a follower. -britannica
