And I am so offended by this woman’s deception that I am unable to see straight. The idea of someone with cancer using tanning beds that much during treatment is WILD to me like she wasn’t even trying to look sick
@zion_infinite77
@zion_infinite77 10 месяцев назад
I can’t believe no one is talking about this! It baffles me. Like, I couldn’t tell if that was her natural skin tone and if it isn’t, why isn’t anyone talking about it? Aren’t people with cancer not supposed to use tanning beds because they’re more susceptible to skin cancer because they already have active cancer cells? I might be wrong but I thought I heard that somewhere

@@zion_infinite77 OMFG yes! My best friend had oral cancer. He eventually beat it, but it cost him most of his tongue and his capacity for speech. I was there helping him to learn ASL, and tried to comfort the difficult task of relearning how to eat/drink. I saw one of my favorite people be sick and traumatized. It was horrible. As you mentioned, all through his radiation treatments, he was cautioned to stay out of the sun because he was more photosensitive.
@aromaladyellie

@@zion_infinite77 I never stop talking about her fake tanning because it's so revolting, and depending on how she's doing it she could get ACTUAL cancer. I assume since she's *orange* she might be going to a spray tan service not a tanning bed. If she *is* using a tanning bed she's sharply raising her chances of skin cancer by like 58% or whatever, I looked it up after seeing her nonsense covered by someone else. For her sake I hope it's a spray-on tan.
@delilahdrummond4076
@delilahdrummond4076 10 месяцев назад
@@zion_infinite77there’s other tanning methods that don’t involve any UV/actual tanning. Which is my guess on why no one talked about it. You can get sprayed darker, there’s colored cream you can rub all over with a mitt, and there’s tinted lotion some people use. And with that hue of orange I’m actually more inclined to believe she did one of these things and not a tanning bed. I’m black so I wouldn’t know personally but from what I’ve heard not many people even use tanning beds anymore

It’s wild to me that she thinks faking cancer will bring her family closer together. When my little brother got cancer, my entire family’s dynamics changed. I have never felt more isolated from my loved ones than when my mother had to quit her job to take my brother to chemo and suddenly my best friend was in too much pain to play with me anymore. My dad had to work to pay for the treatments, my mom was preoccupied with taking care of my brother, and I had to take up responsibility and raise my little sister and give her the attention my parents could not. Cancer tests families, and I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone.

For a moment I thought this sentence was not harsh enough, then I remembered that every time someone applies for a job, for a loan (car/mortgage/etc.), and for a visa to enter many countries you are asked whether you've been convicted of a crime. And a conviction can preclude you from a whole lot of stuff. By not deferring her sentence and by giving her a record this judge has made it impossible for her to run away from this for the rest of her life. That's what's up. They live in a different state, so the last time I had saw him he was perfectly healthy, just starting treatment. The last time I saw him he was skin and bones, and his eyes were full of sadness. Thinking back to visiting him in the hospital and him not being his bubbly, fun self but a sick and utterly defeated boy who barely had enough energy to play some Mario Kart was heartbreaking. Luckily he made it out the other end and is still doing really well now (I'm so fucking proud of him, he's doing so well despite all of that shit), but the thought of someone faking his experience for money and some fucking clout? That's one of the most cruel things I've ever heard about. I don't wanna wish harm on her, but I wouldn't mind if anything bad happened to her either.

This is why I don’t believe that bullshit about “I was tryna bring my family back together.” Her mother was BLINDSIDED by this and when she would try to reach out about what she was reading online, this girl would refuse to let her mom support her in any way. Her mother offered to go with her to doctor’s appointments, bring food over, or just be there. And this brat acted like she could handle it herself and did not let her own mother anywhere near her. That’s how you treat a toxic bully parent, not someone who loves you. So yeah no her family had no clue.

Thank you so much for cutting off Maddie's self-serving statement - as soon as she started with the "How hard this is for me," BS, I felt sick. No word about the people she harmed - still trying to paint herself as a victim, to the point of trying to get the judgment deferred. It's about time people learned about consequences and in my eyes, she got off far too lightly. Prayers for the genuine victims who were impacted by her callousness.

The biotin thing cracks me up. When I started chemotherapy, my doctor made me stop taking my biotin supplement because it promotes tumor growth. 🙄 Make it make sense. Also, the port being covered by a bandage all the time. The reason people opt for ports instead of central lines is so they can do things like swim without having to worry about infection. It doesn't usually need a bandaid. 🤦‍♀️

Something that really struck me about this was it all being rooted in her brother being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I've been type 1 diabetic for 7 years, and it is a physical, mental and emotional battle I wouldn't wish on anyone. I am currently going through chemotherapy after having had two surgeries due to a very rare type of ovarian cancer. It is such a trauma to go through, both having to deal with your body changing and being scared of dying. That someone would fake this illness is so offensive. I have found so much support and love in a fellow cancer patient. You often feel so alone and having others going through something similar (remember every cancer patient is different) that you can connect with means so much. I would think that other cancer patients might have found some comfort in following another "cancer patient" on their social media. It must be devastating for them to realize she made such a mockery of what they are going through. Absolutely heartbreaking. To my brothers and sisters fighing cancer, I wish you have all the support you need to survive this❤

What this girl did is horrid on so many levels. it is truly sickening behavior. I think she should have had to do some time. There is nothing like prison to drive home the point that you have well and truly messed up on an epic level. My concern with the sentence as it stands is that she won't confront her bad decisions. I'm afraid that she will offend again in some way. Granted, prison can't guarantee that she wouldn't reoffend, but, given the severity of the offense, a more severe sentence is called for.

So something that you talked about but really gave me the SHHHHHHHIIIIIIIITTTTTTTSSSSS as a medical professional is her “hair loss treatment” thing. You talked about the hope it would give people, I immediately saw the medical danger of “untested interactions could lessen the effects of medical treatment”. Now I don’t know the exact products she used and I don’t work with cancer unless they have a dual diagnosis of my field so I can’t outline specifics. But something a lot of people don’t realise is that over the counter things can interact with treatment, it’s why we always ask what supplements or other things you’re taking

I am a AYA cancer survivor (aya means adolescent and young adult who have or had cancer at age 15 to 39 years old.) I remember hearing this story on Instagram and how the community was doing a deepdive on her claims. It is maddening and sickening that she did all of this!!! I have met some INCREDIBLE people from this community. Cancer is not something you lie about. It is soooo hard for people to get heard to get a diagnosis, the toll the treatments take on ones' body and mind, let alone the fear of the unknown. To lie, to get people to give their money, time, and energy on her claims just for it to be an act looks bad on her. It also looks bad on actual cancer people, it is a struggle to get help when you are going through treatments, during treatments, survoirship and/or continued maintenance.

as a girl who actually has a nasal feeding tube and uses that same exact kind of bag, i can say with 100% certainty that the thing in her nose is actually the end of the feeding bag tubing. as far as central lines & ports, many of my friends have had them and they have to be kept SO sterile that most patients aren’t even allowed to change the dressing on their own. this is because of the extremely high risk for infection and sepsis. usually the patient does the every day maintenance care and administering meds, tpn, etc. at home in accordance with their specific needs. all of that to say, that was a LUDICROUS pic and a laughable attempt to legitimize herself 😂 p.s. respectfully, giant eff you to the people who fake illnesses and claim diagnoses they know they don’t have. this is why it’s so hard to find treatment for those of us who are actually suffering with a chronic illness and desperately need help. it’s people like you who contribute to an unfortunately very popular narrative that patients are faking their symptoms. the medical system has traumatized me so much that my blood pressure and heart rate is negatively affected when i step foot into medical facilities of any kind. my last trip to the er, i hadn’t eaten or taken any of my meds in about a week. my blood pressure was bottoming out and i was in excruciating pain just to name a few of my symptoms. i felt like my body was going into shock and remember thinking if i fall asleep rn, i don’t know if id wake up. while i was packing my hospital bag i started sobbing uncontrollably. but i wasn’t crying bc of my pain, i was crying bc i didn’t think they would help or believe me. so when people treat illness as a trendy way to garner attention and sympathy, it infuriates me. being ill in any capacity is never desirable nor is it a laughing matter. thank you swoop for being such a fierce advocate for others. your incredibly meticulous and inspiring sense of empathy does not go unnoticed. ♥️ also i am LOVING the purple hair 😍😍😍😍😍

No feeding tube, but I have a port for daily infusions and I had the same reaction when I saw her supposed central line "dressing." These things are a huge infection risk and would never be like... just taped over with some gauze or something like that. Just absolutely ridiculous and an insult to anyone who is fighting cancer or anyone with a loved one who is. Also kind of strikes a nerve for those of us with chronic illness, too (I know I had a visceral reaction seeing that picture). Feels like she wanted to be inspiration porn and get rich for it. Also, as someone who has also had some scary times over the years, I wish you well! Being sick is a rollercoaster, for sure.

I completely agree. My condolences. I had a feeding tube as a kid for a while and if anything has left traumatic memories, it's that tube... I did not like having a CVC either but the feeding tube was much, much worse. I have the same problem, things are always going wrong with my body and I don't want to go to the doctor because I know they will just send me away, telling me that I am 26 so of course I am fine. A week ago I actually met a doctor who took me seriously for the first time - someone who specialized in the effects of cancer treatment and could tell me that many of my problems are probably due to having gotten full-body radiation treatment as a kid. Maybe that can help me to get other doctors to take my problems seriously too...

@@CainXVII oh my goodness! i am so so sorry you’re have gone/are going through that. i can’t imagine how tough it’s been. 🥺 i would never ever wish being ill (chronically or not) on my worst enemy. it’s inexplicable the amount of pain and trauma we endure in the medical system.

As an actual cancer survivor (Ovarian at 17 and 22, Breast cancer at 42.) What Maddie Russo did makes me sick to my stomach. Faking cancer for money and sympathy, That is the worst thing anybody can do. I am glad she was arrested and going to jail.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in February. This is so despicable. I can't believe someone would do this- it hurts so so many people.

as a young breast cancer survivor that was denied a lot of financial help i find this to be such a disgrace. she's the reason cancer fighters have such a hard time even asking for help during hard times. it makes people think twice about helping anyone. i will never financially recover from cancer. millions of people are in that same boat. don't donate money, people! unless you know them personally. donate time, meals and helping hands. cancer patients will love you for it. cancer is hell. hopefully this girl will never have to learn the horrific truth of what cancer really is.

This reminds me of a girl who went to my high school who did the same thing! She only got around $7500 before she got caught but we had fundraisers and assemblies for her and when it came out that it was all a lie was insane
