I came here to check out the amp tbh, didn’t know who Frank was. Once I realized it was $300 I no longer wanted it but I still watched the whole video because Frank is fantastic.
Wonderful video, love these series from Joyo. Bass tube amps definitely deserve more attention. I did a video recently about my rare Italian model that's turning 50 this year, and it has been an absolute joy to use for the past 4 years. The amp's ability to produce such warm and rich tones, regardless of the instrument, is simply amazing. Transistor amps are great too, but they'll never really be my soft spot. Your video really emphasizes how special these amps are. Great work!
I bought one of these this morning and am watching the reviews after my purchase. I have a Joyo Bantamp for guitar already. Very pleased with it. And the Bluetooth sounds great through a big speaker.
It is almost as if I would not believe my own eyes and ears, that such a small amplifier (a loaf of bread is larger) has such a powerful and deep sound.
Completely agree on the effects loop. I would much rather have a DI. But also, who has 4ohm cabinets? The vast majority of bass cabs are 8ohm which means you only get 25w out of this thing. Nearly a year after they released these, I cannot figure out who they're for.
Gregor. Thank you so much for your great reviews. Very clear, concise & interesting. Could you please tell me the brand & model of the blue bass that Frank played in the intro. Thank you in advance & keep up the good work.
you can switch them off, it's just one click at the bottom of the screen (or on the top if you're watching on a phone). You might not need them, but believe me, many non-native english speakers appreciate the effort.
Not having a recording output is the deal breaker for me. I'm looking for a small bass amp that can go directly into an interface. Something preferably, that does not require a load box.Something with quality IRs in it. The search continues...
The big thing that makes me not consider picking it up is that you can’t record direct off of the amp. No DI out. You might be able to use the “send” into your interface though, as long as it’s post all processing but I’m not sure
I really enjoy your Channel. I was wondering if you could show the joyo matching cabinet. BantCab for Bass, B110, 1 x 10" speaker, 3" tweeter, speaker cabinet, 100 watts/4ohms Thanks Adam
I'm fairly new and I'm just trying to learn to play the bass, I'm not aiming for any band or to get on a stage it's just fun for me at home, I have on of HB's dirt cheap combos but I don' like the sound of it, so I've been using my computer, though an M2 moto and out through a couple of Adam audio 5", but I want to be able to practice without sitting in front of the computer, so I'm looking for decent bass amp and I kinda like the sound of this one, but my big nook question is, what would you pair it with?? just any cheapo 12" cab or??
The "send" from the back could be sent into a di box and then into an interface. That's not too useful though, I would recommend another amp if you're after that.
If the Bluetooth went out, then it could be routed into P.A. and recording devices, but it’s only Bluetooth in, I’m not even sure what you would want with that? Maybe play along to songs in your phone? But I could easily live without it and would much prefer a direct out. Plus, it’s quarter inch speaker terminals only? I thought everyone had switched to Speak On by now?
Love the size the output is on the lower side. 50w is fine but at 4ohms it is going to take some work finding a compact 4ohm cab or having one custom built. would actually be cheaper to get a more powerfull head and you can use any 8ohm cab you have laying around. you can get avatar speakers to make you a cab with emenence speakers 2x10 or 1x12 for around 500 shipped to your door Looks like hartke has a 1x12 that is SWITCHABLE between 4 and 8 ohms for around $400. I would actually be interested in seeing a review in a cab like this. Looks like the largest hurdle to inexpensive compact bass rigs is finding 4ohm cabinets so you can get the full output of your head in a small package! some are out there but they are crazy expensive. Modern bass amps can handle 2ohm loads you would think 4ohm cabs would start to become the standard!
Each time you double the wattage you only gain 3db of SPL. So while the search for a 4ohm cab will indeed allow the head to output 50w, you'll gain much more volume by looking for a cabinet which is more efficient (higher sensitity rating on the drivers, more speakers with larger cone size and more Xmax.)
@@Khaospenguiny 3db of SPL is double the volume. Decibels are a logarithmic scale so every time you increase 3db you double the volume. no doubt a shitty 8 ohm cab will be better than a crap 4 ohm cab but all things being equal the 4 ohm cab would be better. Your much more likely to find a crappy 8ohm cab than a 4, 4ohm cabs are usually custom and/or high end wich was my original complaint. I don't think sensitivity is going to be a factor because the 4 ohm cab will get twice the power. you are likely not going to find a 4ohm cab that is less than a few percentage points less efficient than the 8ohm cab. My original complaint is a common complain with MOST bass amps they will advertise the maximum power but in order to get that you have to run 4ohms or sometimes even 2ohms depending on the brand. The problem with trying to run a compact rig on bass is the lack of affordable options for 4ohm cabinets. What is the point of having a lunchbox sized amp if you still need to lug around two cabs to get max output.
I don’t know… calling it a super portable and affordable practice amp, and not showing it used with any other equipment (except the bass guitar), to me gives the impression that it’s a combo amp, with its own speaker(s). Not a word was said about what you’re running it through, or that you were running it through an external speaker system at all. So… hmmm. It’s not what I thought it was. I don’t know what other folks might have thought. Seems pretty misleading.
I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET A VOICE FOR SOME OF MY IDEAS. FOR EXAMPLE I FOUND YOUR PICK HAS A LOT TO DO WITH SOUND. I USE A SLIDE AS A PICK ON GUITAR. ON BASS I HOLD MY INDEX FINGER LIKE A PICK BETWEEN THUMB AND MIDDLE FINGER. I CAN POSITION THE STRIKE TO GET SEVERAL SOUNDS.
