Singapore lives in peace by prospering its neighbours. Without Singapore investment, (formerly malaria infested islands with a few thousand fishermen) Batam, Bintan, Karimun and the Riau archipelago would be just another undeveloped backyard. Singapore invested heavily in Indonesia to become one of the top foreign investors in the country. Without Singapore, Johor will not be one of the most prosperous states in Malaysia. Singapore even bought excess river water from the state. This excess water caused much flood not only in Johore but just like in other states as well. Now Malaysia wants to set up a Economic Zone in Johore to tap on Singapore's human and capital resources. It's hope of being the first ASEAN country with a high speed rail to Singapore was dashed by a self-serving Prime Minister (overtaken by even the least developed ASEAN member Laos which now has a thriving high-speed rail with China). It's also a top investor in Vietnam and a great consumers of agricultural products from Thailand. It also creates employment opportunities for the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia by allowing thousands of their citizens to work in Singapore with salary better than their own country. So if neighbouring ASEAN countries want prosperity, they should work and live harmoniously with Singapore.

Through good governance boosts a security in economic output, hence promoting GDP growth year after year. Singapore has proven itself among other neighbouring countries. Even as an M'sian, I say there is so much to learn from the Red dot nation.

Eat durians with neighbours is very important from presidents to the lowest levels. Do trading and help each other and be friendly to each other will surely go a long way. The next thing is to train our boys to defend our country 24/7 . National service is very very important.
