Before the Myrtle Beach location shut down, it was a must-visit every time my family went (I still have my wand). In my late 20's I would get obnoxiously into it, complete with wand flourishes, olde English speak, and a boisterous medieval stride throughout the MagiQuest for the sole purpose of embarrassing my moody teenage brother. Also, 'Midnight Sizemore' is now an official NPC in my DnD campaign.

So story about when I worked at GWL- I worked at the front desk for 3 years. Got ‘pack member of the month’ a few times. But the MagiQuest event was always around. So we had two otters above the desk that gave tips and also said ‘pretty nifty wand work there’ in a southern accent. Well when they upgraded MQ about 2 years into my job there, the otters lost speaking code somewhere. However I could mimic them. So for two whole shifts I got paid to sit in a room beside them with a microphone and read the script. Good times.

Fun fact about this particular Great Wolf Lodge location with living within the vicinity of it in MN: this wasn’t always a Great Wolf Lodge as before it it was actually known as Waterpark of America, name is such because of it being directly across from Mall of America there in Bloomington I haven’t been back ever since it was re-branded as a Great Wolf Lodge, but I have been to the one in Wisconsin Dells (which is the one that started at all before they eventually became a chain) and also did MagiQuest there when I was there back in early 2020 before the pandemic hit. Like the only remaining free-standing location in Pigeon Forge, TN, the Wisconsin Dells location also has the legacy version of the game. Still have my wand that I got when I was there, but have never been back to there or another location ever since. Hopefully I can make it to either Great Wolf Lodge in Bloomington, or even the only remaining free-standing location in Pigeon Forge, TN before they potentially close down someday (and from what I heard from another commenter here, it sounds like their future is very bleak).

I found the Pigeon Forge location like 5 years ago and it was my first one. It was AMAZING. My spouse and I both loved it. We bought wands, kept our books and planned on going to one of the ones at Great Wolf Lodge after finding out about them. Unfortunately, we were ruined by playing at Pigeon Forge first because the Great Wolf locations are pathetic in comparison. They are just glorified hallways, whereas the Pigeon Forge one is like a full experience with hidden passages and cool props and settings.

I remember going to a MagiQuest location in December 2009 when my parents and I visited Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for winter vacation. I've been to the standalone Pidgeon Forge and Williamsburg GWL locations many times. The PF location is awesome; there are doors that open with the wand and even a key that you could buy to unlock the door to the Goblin King (not sold anymore sadly). Unfortunately, that location only has MagiQuest Legacy (original 2005 version + ice dragon expansion). After GWL bought Creative Kingdoms, the GWLs got updated versions of MagiQuest with additional content, but the standalone was left behind. Regardless, the PF location is a more immersive, nostalgic experience that's worth traveling for, Chad!

It's insane to think that I was at both the location you were at and the one at Pigeon Forge. I thought everything at GWL was pretty fun, but Pigeon is like a giant carnival. I even got a reserve down there that had a bunch of Bigfoot Memorabilia. The only thing that sucked about it was that the road up the reserve was like a giant mountain. Me and my family tried getting up there in a car, but it was way too big for the car to handle. Eventually my mom just took her car up there by herself and drove up to the entrance, while me and the rest of my family had to climb up the thing and be aware it was like 10:00 PM, and this location was known for having Cubs and bears around its territory so I was pretty scared. Anyway after that we tried Magiquest and it was fairly entertaining, but if you want to go to anywhere huge and full of cool stuff, Pigeon Forge is definitely the place. They even have a Bubba Gumps location there based off of Forrest Gump, just try not to go to the place I slept at.

I used to go to the Myrtle Beach one as a kid and I have fond memories of defeating the red dragon. I think I only did it twice but I always walked by the building like every summer growing up. I still probably have my blue dragon wand around somewhere lol

I first played magiquest when I was around 7, and fell in love so fast. Even at 21 I will occasionally drive out with a friend to the nearby Great Wolf to play for a couple hours. The best memory I have with the game was when I was with my family for a weekend, and while everyone was swimming in the waterpark I was playing Magiquest, never going to the park cause I was so focused on beating the bosses.

On the topic of the Pigeon Forge location, I've actually never been there. Even though I have visited Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge every year for the past 3 or 4 years. Now I can get a fairly nice quality check of the general locations. Thanks Chad! - Parker P.

I just discovered Magiquest 14 days ago during a group trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Lagrange GA. In those two weeks I've now played at 7 different locations on a midwest road trip. I've fallen hard for this game. I'm sad I've only now just discovered it, but happy that it's never too late!

Awesome video! I went to the Myrtle Beach one several times as a kid and at the time I had no idea it was the original location. The whole building felt huge and was really themed, it was awesome. I want to take my wife and go to the TN location so bad now!!

I was one of the leads at the Cincinnati GWL for a few years a while ago, after doing the Pigeon Forge standalone location. They have 3 different storylines to play, so there's a bunch of quests to go on. Definitely an immersive experience with lots of replay value. I used to do the bosses all the time. I'd love to check out some of the other ones some time....

I love that game. I used to go to the huge one in Myrtle Beach when it was still there. It was huge & had way more boss fights than the ones in the Great Wolf Lodge locations had when I went there with my family. A little sad that it's closed.

I never got to play this at my many visits to the Williamsburg location, but as a kid I would always stop to see what the other kids were up to in MagiQuest. Always wanted one of the wands so I could play, but it wasn't what my parents were paying for. Thank you guys for this nostalgia trip of a game I never really got to play, but always saw glimpses of!

The Magiquest in Pigeon Forge is amazing the whole second floor is the game and on the downstairs there is a arcade, pirate golf, and Mirror maze. They don’t require you to buy a wand although buying one adds to the experience

i remember playing magiquest one time on a trip to great wolf lodge, back when I was probably 10-12 or so. i couldn't tell you what location we were at, but my scout troop was there for a few days as our big trip we took yearly after our cookie sales and we all begged our parents for wands. the set up there though was WAY more barebones than what's even seen here. there was like a "hub" area that was some trees with screens in them, and you talked to some pre-recorded wizard man to get all your quests. then all the objects were kind of just scattered around the lodge haphazardly. but at the time it felt like it was THE coolest thing ever and we all got really into it while we were there. we spent hours running around in our pajamas trying to finish questlines. i think part of the magic of it was not only the idea we were ALLOWED to run around a hotel on purpose, but that we were able to kind of make up our own fun along the way. i have no idea where I finished at. i know I had the most basic wand (because they were so expensive jesus christ), and my brother had one too. i think we kept ours for a few years but they got lost after we moved a few times, or we got rid of them when we figured we'd never go back. i genuinely would have a blast just going on vacation by myself to a lodge for a few days to play magiquest by myself, even in that barebones version i played. also, in fairness, i registered my wand under "pikachu", so midnight is at least thematically correct. EDIT: totally forgot about this, but there was one quest I remember specifically that drove us crazy for a few hours trying to finish it, because it was timed, and you had to hit specific items around the hotel before the timer ran out, and since there were a bunch of floors to our particular locations, we quite literally just had to bolt for the elevators and hope we could make it in enough time. i THINK we did beat it, but it's possible that's where our time ended.

@Olivia 757 I'm not sure, but my guess would be Legacy. from what i can tell off Google 2.0 didn't come out until 2014, and i know what time period i was in scouts was way before that ( 2009-2010?)

YES Im from Cincinnati and i cant believe i've missed this video this is one of my most favorite and loving childhood memories I am so happy you guy got to play it and form what i can tell each location is different and that is just the magic of the game every location you get a new experience. The one at Cincinnati is a lot more centralized so there is a lot less of being in peoples way and its great. Also the one in Tennessee I went to and it was a very cool experience I felt very immersed (sadly I wasn't there for long). Sorry for the longer comment I just had to gush about one of my favorite irl games just so glad to see one of my favorite youtubers cover this amazing game I'm hoping for more great content bro keep it up.

i remember playing it at a great wolf when I was a kid. It was honestly really fun to get to run around this whole building to find all the different quest objectives. I went to a different one years later, they had the whole thing gated off to one big room. it probably made more sense for them to do that, but it made the whole thing way less fun

I got to play MagiQuest at the original GWL in Wisconsin Dells (MagiQuest itself at this location is built around the old play/slide area that was there since the beginning, which makes it an interesting surrounding area to play the game in). I have kept my two wands, and have slain the dragon (I was also 16 at the time, surrounded by kids lol). I am also hoping to work at a GWL location someday! I overall think the whole fantasy game/theme is so cool!

Full disclosure: I went once to the MagiQuest in Myrtle Beach (2005-6ish) and I STILL HAVE THAT F*CKING WAND! At the time, I thought it was so cool (throwback to my freshman high school baby self). I totally relate to what “Midnight” Luke was talking about 😂 I went with my little cousin but actually ended up having a great time. Maybe that’s why that wand is still in my possession even though I’m a super minimalist and get rid of most stuff without sentimental attachments. I currently live in South Korea so I don’t know if I’ll ever have the chance to see if I’m still in the system though 😂
@CL0CKWORKPUPPET
@CL0CKWORKPUPPET Год назад
chances are, you are! the system has been preserved even through GWL's acquisition, so your wand probably still works (albeit the batteries have probably corroded, especially if you've kept your topper on. If you still have your wand and want to preserve it, I would highly recommend screwing the topper off partway or completely!)

I first played at the Myrtle Beach location when I was super young, like 7 years old. Later we did the really big one at Pigeon Forge and it’s like the game grew up with me, I was probably around 12-13 at that time and there was a looot more stuff. I still remember going to I think the one at Pigeon Forge and there being a dark box and I waved my wand at it, and it lit up to reveal a crown that was exactly at head hight in my reflection. When I tell you little kid me was FLOORED, I went around pretending I was a princess mage for the rest of the night

Played it only once at a FunPlex in my home state. It was confined to a little part of the indoor complex, so you werent interrupting other guests while they were walking, but sometimes you did bump into other kids playing. I played it back in like 2011? So it was out for a while, and had different quests to do. At this location you were able to get rented wands but were not able to take them home lol. I did not finish my quest sadly, but I remember having fun being able to run around with a magic wand lol. Sadly, this MagiQuest got shut down in 2016, so I will never be able to finish my quest like Midnight TTOTT.

I had this experience when I was installing the Tokyo Dome location. One of my tasks was to make sure every chest was playing the correct sound, awarding the correct amount of gold, etc. I had a map of every chest, but one eluded me, I go to my coworker on the job and hes basically like... look up. So I go back confused and... whoever layed out the effects there was a genius, there was a chest mounted on the wall above an entranceway.
