Synchronizing the shaky cam footage with the heavy metal music is a stroke of genius. Normally I would hate that footage but somehow the music makes it fit. Keep up the good work!
@@Milamberinx - It seems like a genius move in the classic game "the first person to give a number loses." If someone told me "£1000", I might say OK. I might say "you're in the ball park." If he said "£10", I'd say "that doesn't even cover my gas." And the negotiation would go from there.
@@MrTwostring The problem is most people would have no idea what an offroad recovery costs, myself included. I think Rudy should be a little more prepared with some pre-thought out prices, and then adjust on a job by job basis depending on time, rigs required, ect ect. Having no idea what to charge someone is a sure way to go broke!
@@Bobbywolf64 -- Your reaction is EXACTLY why I called his response "genius". You think he sounds "a little unprepared" -- but in fact, he's using tried and true used car salesman tactics. The fact that he can do so... without being seen as a "used car salesman" and while using the word "fair" --- that's genius. I'm sure he knows EXACTLY how much to charge. It's not like he didn't come of age in the business. "Did anybody quote you a price?" Translation -- I was dispatched by another company and need information. If you called for help without asking for a quote, I can charge you anything I want. "What do you think is fair?" Translation -- If I give you a price and you don't think it's fair, you might want me to come down. If I give you a price and you would have paid more, I will spend the rest of the week thinking I should have asked for more .... so you go first.
@@Bobbywolf64Rudy is not a tow service, he gets calls because he’s able to get to people and get them out, either for his dad or someone else. If some company quotes a price to a customer and then doesn’t tell Rudy if he tells them a higher price he looks like a thief and a lower price the company loses. Remember this is not even a side gig for him, he pretty much does it because someone asks him to.
I really enjoyed the editing on this episode, the choice to add heavy metal to the shaky footage from the side-by-side, contrasting with peaceful folksy banjo and guitar when we're filming from the Rudicon was awesome. Also constantly seeing how half-done the Rudicon is, adding water, the horn doesn't work. This was a great video. When I drag raced in the 70s . We hooked our window sprayer up to spray the radiator. Helped to cool it in the staging lines. Also put mist nozzles on the end.
Whoever is behind that fancy camera it's giving me totally different vibes. Feels like I'm watching a movie or a cool documentary about a day in Rudy's life 😅. I would absolutely not be opposed to that camera style coming around more often. What a difference!

Janelle did really well in my opinion with some practice she will be a pro. Great job Janelle the best way to learn is on the job. I am glad you guys are back the Rudicon definitely needs some love. It is a true workhorse.

Hey Rudy, please look into getting a clip on microphone for your videos, whenever you're in the garage or the field, the sound varies so much that a mic on your person will make the video 10x better, just because we'll always hear you the same volume. Love your vids, keep them coming!
Nice to see a bit of old school wobbly action cam (and with high saturaiton); makes a cool change from all the image stabilisation of current era cameras.

I love the rough "quality" of some of the video (an example is the stuff shot from the side-by-side). It added a feeling of live-on-the-scene that I don't get from the really clear crisp shots.
What to charge for a recovery in a harsh environment that requires a specialized tow vehicle? You have to cover your time to and from your shop, plus mileage and maintenance on the tow vehicle. Then there is the premium for having the experience and equipment to actually get the vehicle back to safety. That good stuff didn't happen by accident and it wasn't cheap to acquire. If I got my vehicle stuck in the middle of nowhere I figure its going to cost me a fair bit to rescue my expensive vehicle and do it before someone steals everything but the frame. Great episode. Looking forward to the next one.
Nice rescue ! Before there were businesses like you guys to pull people out of predicaments like this, what did they do ? I've had dirt bikes and a Baja bug since the '70s. We never saw people getting stuck. Maybe back then people thought, we shouldn't do this instead of we shouldn't have done that.
I love using "what seems fair to you" in my line of work. I'm an arborist and 80% of clients when I do something small without appraisal give me more after these words than I would tell myself :)

FYI... "low on fuel" is not accurate. Toyotas are notorious for having conservative fuel gages. In my Tundra when the fuel light comes on I still have 6-7 gallons left. Its kind of ridiculous really. All the Toyotas I have had are like that!
Even if the Rudicon is only half done.... take the tape off the side that says "1/2 Dun". It off roads great and looks fine. Need a RAD decal on the side
