Absolutely amazing. Like you say, this is showroom finish, like it's never seen a field! It's fantastic machines like this are so appreciated and people spend the time and money preserving them for the future. With so few made and many worked almost to destruction as Oliver Godfrey said, we are so lucky to be able to still see these demonstrated. If I had the money and the space, I'd have this over any sports car!! Thanks for sharing this Mucker.

@PB Then I am sure you would approve of my wedding transport. Many, many years ago I married my wife, and one of our tractor drivers took me to the church in the Farm’s main ploughing tractor, which was a total beast of a machine. Far bigger than anything else on the farm. Ford TW 30. Peter, my driver spent most of the week before cleaning, polishing and I am sure caressing it, before taking me and my best man to church.

Love the County tractors..we have a restored one based on the last of the Fordson skid units. The engineering is an amazing example of early UK innovation and toughness. It had a blade and back hoe on it and survived decades of total abuse but now sits quietly in my shed. Simply the best.

One of the best vintage sale catalogues I’ve seen. I can’t wait to see them all in person. For the holy grail question, I don’t really have an answer as all the tractors I will ever own I’d like to put to work. I do love the 55 series John deeres, also the Ford TW series, but I’d probably go with a Ford 946 or roadless super major!

Lord muck you are right about the driving experience of a 1474 short nose I got to bring in silage bales in the summer of 09 on a 1474 in Ireland. The tractor had been bought at the Malcolm Besston auction a few years before. I had driven a few nice LWB 1184s but this was smooth. It had the 34 inch lighter adjustable wheels. I think the tractor had cost about 45000 pounds and I think it’s back in the uk it was a 1980 tractor

I love County Tractors. I have 2, a December 1962 Super Major-based Super 4 currently under restoration and a Super Major Based Super 6. The Super 6 is a July 64 skid unit built by County in August 1965, number 15101, and one of the very last Super Major-based Countys built. Last nut and bolt restoration and never for sale.

The Ferguson brown, ford-ferguson and Ferguson tractors were definitely game changers as they introduced 3 point linkages and mounted implements. Until roadless and county came along, almost everything else was just a copy with some scaling up. Roadless and county gave what farmers needed, more power and more traction. When the mainstream tractor builders are forced to follow the aftermarket conversions it kind of proves the soundness of the thought process behind these early conversions. I've spent most of my time driving 2wd nuffields, but one conversion I did was to graft some 7.50x20 front wheels on. When we had the snow in January 2010, I ran out of ground clearance under the front axle. I lashed this setup together and in all honesty, I never wanted to go back to the 7.50 x 16's again. The tractor was so much smoother to drive on rough ground, without any suspension the ride was smoother than a discovery. I'd imagine the full size front wheels would be awesome if you had the space for the turning circle limitations. If you had the contacts to make it happen, it would be awesome to see a shoot out video between different approaches to 4wd. Something like an mf1200 vs an equivalent county and an equivalent small front wheel 4wd tractor. A series of field tests on ploughing, cultivation and maybe a tug of war with the tractors ballasted to the same weight and weight distribution to really showcase the different approaches.

It's amazing how they can reassemble a restoration with scratching that fresh paint. There's no rounded off nuts or bolts, no scratches....it's perfect! It's almost by magic. She is an amazing tractor! The winning bidder is going to be very lucky...and very pleased! 🚜🚜 🚜 I would have to say the IH Farmall Cub. Primarily because it was pioneering in the development of smaller, compact tractors, which are a huge market segment today.

As a kid (80's)I LOVED our old County (bonnet gone, guessing a super 6/954), refitted with an Engine from a rolled Claas combine, cobbled on cab (And monster rollbar), could plough (4 furrow)heavy clay faster than lime could be spead in front of it long summer days, hot boots, ringing ears, bellhousing bolts working loose constantly, "A young boy, two hands on the wheel I can't replace the way it made me feel"
