Thanks for touching on how long the process takes. Loving this large build being broken into weeks. It helps put context into how long it actually takes. When I'm in the middle of a build, I often get frustrated with progress I've made.

Progress is progress my friend! Sometimes you can only take little steps, what matters is you’re a little closer to the finish than when you started!

Thanks for taking about the time commitment some projects can involve. I think the biggest thing that discourages new crafters is not understanding why its taking so long vs. what they see on RU-vid. So far I'm really enjoying how the table is progressing. Its really starting to look like its going to be amazing

Absolutely interesting, the scope of work mind blowing. I feel like I’m cheating with digitally designing and printing while eating popcorn. Well done, respect.

Really cool! Didn't thought that you can do such good brickwork by cutting them in. I thought you have to glue single bricks to get such results. So good job

You could also stack the stair slabs and cut the backside flush with one cut. Great video

This is looking really good! We just got a glance at your big white stairs, but they looked amazing from what I could tell. Also, it's always great to have a gentle reminder that the video editing process makes things look nice and fast, but in reality it takes forever. Thanks for that! I love your channel. Keep it up; you're doing great work here! :)

I'm currently making an onslaught board with similar styling. I don't glue in any modules, as you can make different inserts. Change the insert, and it becomes a door/sewer for level transitions.

Great video. Working on a Halloween display that started out as a simple used dollhouse with spray paint that has morphed into a whole diorama. IOW, I bit off more than I can chew. It's definitely going to be a multiyear process, and I'm learning from videos like this. Appreciated!

Totally true about the time commitment for some these builds. I recently wrapped up a tavern/farmhouse that I estimate was North of a hundred and sixty hours.

Crazy, I know. My longest one before that was a warship that was maybe 80 hours. One of these days I’ll post them on Instagram.

I will say, to make the stairs more playable, I would do thicker, wider stairs, that way a model can rest on it, with maybe 3 stairs in total. It'll still read as stairs on the board but be a lot more interactable

With large, stone constructs like this, look at detail pictures of ancient structures. The stairs, for example, could have been built using layered slabs of stone, rather than individual stones. This would be realistically plausible if heavy loads were being transported up and down, where the end stones would have a chance of rolling out of seat. Large stone pieces could also be considered for hardened structures like jails. Think about the stones hauled into place for the various Egyptian sites.

LOVE your content! One question tho: what you are gonna do now that the bottom step of the staircase is below the walkway level? Can't wait for see what you will do next. BRAVO!

The stairs look good and the method is indeed easy. The problem with your end product is that miniatures can't stand on them. Obviously if that is important to me I will need to adjust the size of the steps during the cutting.
@Karlmakesstuff
@Karlmakesstuff 2 года назад
Beautiful brickwork man! Thinking about the process, since you're using hot glue you might get away with doing less cuts. You slice up the layers like you do in the video, then glue them back at an offset. (Instead of cutting the layers to size then gluing them) Then you run that through the hot wire and cut off the back portion. You should be able to cut two sets of stairs with less effort than it takes to cut one in this way.

Why is the staircase technique showing up at 4:53 when the video title references how to make staircases? Shouldn't this be at like the first 10-30 seconds?
