In todays video I explain how I stay motivated to get out and skate even in the cold winter months. I share some of my thoughts and how I get through the winter to hopefully help you stay motivated ! Then I challenge myself with a goal I set for the day and may have under estimated one of the tricks... it was a battle!

Video on how to pop out krook. I can only get the shuv out and the pivot to fakie. Every other video I have def gain something from it to use especially the flip in and flip out videos. You excellent at explaining how to do tricks.

I always skate alone and man hearing and seeing how you stay up really inspired me to dig in on some goals when I do go out. Thanks for the nice content! 👏👏👏 At the moment i take a break from skateboarding because of sore knees get back a little bit into cycling to strengthen my legs. 😥 Sometimes its smarter to give the body a longer recovery. My motivation here in Austria during winter time is always there and i dont care if its too cold to skate. Warming up and skating for 1-2 hours is enough and when you stop its better to leave the spot when you are sweating as hell. 😅🫣 The tricks were so good! 👏👏👏 Keep the videos coming! 🔥🔥🔥

I force myself outside onto the board lol must...practice.... Or die.... Lmao 🤣 the cold def sucks. Sometimes I'm going so hard, sweating like crazy an I stop for a second to breath, can see steam coming off of my head lol 😆😂 I'm also new to skating so it's my first winter skating

Switch tails get me. I always forget to Ollie above the ledge before I start to turn. So I clip on the way up every try. I can switch 5-0 and switch smith but this trick tricks me

Having all the prerequisites but not being able to do the trick is so frustrating. And sometimes you need to do things in a certain way. I could never heelflip out of noseslides but I could do it if I nollied into the noseslide. Go figure. For me, the most frustrating trick in the entire universe is flip back tail. I can flip back lip, flip front board, flip 5-0, backside flip was my go-to, and I did a trick tip in a magazine for back tail yet in my whole life I never did a flip back tail. Not even on a curb. Makes absolutely no sense.

As a skater in Alaska, with only one small garage to skate all winter, it's hard to find motivation, i have a contest in Arizona in like two weeks and I'm super not prepared. Maybe this video is the inspiration I need to get out and start putting it together. But also it's 9°f and dropping now that the sun is down so man I'm not sure. Either way fun video man 🤙

Remember seeing a video years ago of you, Kelly and P Rod skating downtown somewhere at night. You gave the greatest tip ever for switch fs bigspins and bigheels where you almost use the side of your foot to help push the board round on flat. Does this still apply when popping out of a ledge? If that made any sense 😂 Sick video tho man here's to another year of Asta on YT 🤟

During winter in the Midwest i usually just dress the same way tom does i'll layer the heck up maybe even long johns under neath some baggier jeans long sleeve with a hoodie & beanie i just toss in some hot hand packs into my gloves while im skating just incase i do smack my hands they'll be atleast warmed up smacking your hands in the cold is the worst feeling

During winter, the true science is just to skate enough to warm up fast and properly, and get enough energy and will to do and learn new tricks. Everything else feels depressing and not progressive, especially if you get injured or the weather is horrible for days.

Damn when you were getting mad at the big heel out I felt that. Skateboarding doesn't make sense and it's so annoying when you get closer to land a new trick but every attempt start to become worse than the one before. I've been there with noseslide nollie heels, I know I can do it cause I can flip it but everytime the board flip different Tom, I want to destroy everything but to land tech tricks you can't get mad. I'm thinking to get an anger management course to land it, what you think?

I think you were struggling because you lose less of a flick when you’re not going for the full spin. Your front foot sits lighter and doesn’t stay on as long, compared to the 270 out. If you keep the front foot on longer and flick harder I think you got it easier. If that made any sense lol

I'd love to see some flips back to switch. They are so much less common, and I'd guess harder to make look good. Switch tail hardflip out would be cool too if it could somehow be done clean.

congrats on new land. key for me is the timing between your back foot shuving and front foot flipping. 270 heel out works easier because board is turned just right when heel flicks. so putting more time between back foot motion and front foot motion will put the board in that sweet spot for the flick to really hit. stoked your making videos, you always had the most butter style dude

Water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and boils at 100 degrees. Makes more sense than Fahrenehit. 40 Fahrenheit is 4,44 degrees Celsius btw. Thanks Tom for the motivation!

Seems like it's rare when tricks take that long but man is it a trip to watch a battle for you. Would like to see a vid on nuanced things like nosegrind pop outs vs straight off, switch or reg 180 crooks, why nollie half cab crook is preferable than fakie, and how much switch heels are easier than regular at this point.
