You're dedication to fishing really is inspiring JB. People that don't fish really don't understand how much of a thrill and how mentally challenging fishing is. It's one thing to simply cast a lure, it's whole other thing when you try to figure out how to catch fish and understand how another creature is acting. That's where the addiction to fishing comes from. Day in and day out trying to figure out what particular technique and what particular lure a fish is wanting that day gets me excited just thinking about it. GT is on the bucket list for me. There are several different locations to target them and surely enough it seems you gotta be on your "A" game! Hope you managed to land a giant GT before the end of your trip. If not, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities! It's gotta be a blessing to be out there to have this experience either way!

Jon if you ever go back, please read this comment: 1) you're poorly equiped, you need bigger hooks and better baits. Thos supplied locally I guess look decent but those you carried..man didn't even swap the trebles, right? that's trouble!! (lol) stock hook are junk. You also need bigger reel, the reel you have is fine for jigging, not popping. You need a 10 000 size stella and 80lbs braid, double line if you want and 100lbs mono. Also need a kangarro skin finger protection, you're getting riped!! 2) that's not how you fish for GT. This is not a rebel popR for largemouth, you need to just reel in real fast and use the waves to trigger more splash. The GT's were laughing at your bait going so slow!!! 3) Mozambique is nice but very few GTs compared to other places. I'm not going to say where in public but you have a couple options.

Jon, come to Australia! You need to try Helicopter Fishing for barramundi, by far the best way to see amazing scenery and experience the best barra fishing in the world, and also topwater Murray Cod! Plus some of the best saltwater fishing in the world.

Jon. Next time think about coming to North Queensland in Australia. We have excellent GT population and a great chance to catch a GGT. There is also other great fishing when you not chasing the GT's. Just to name a few. Mackerel, Cobia, coral trout, Large and small mouth Nanigi, Empirer and many more.
