It was in trials at the time, and of the 3 contenders it was a shoe-in to win because it's basically just a rechambered AR-15 with some mechanical upgrades. The US Army values maintaining the manual of arms over actually upgrading their weapons, if the SIG Spear hadn't been in the trials then they likely would have called the whole thing off the same way they did with all the other adoption trials to replace the M16 since it was adopted in the 60's. What makes it less impressive is that they spent the first 3 years of development on writing the new engine, the trials were already public by the time they got around to actually designing the weapons. Also worth noting is that the M5 is being adopted by the _Army_ but the US forces in Battlefield are supposed to be based on the _Navy_ Marine Corp, as evidenced by the use of aircraft carriers which are all Navy vessels. The Navy and their Marines adopt weapons separately from the Army and follow different combat doctrine, they adopted the M27 IAR relatively recently as their own replacement to the M249 and are not currently looking to replace their M16's.
@@GremlinSciences I guess with the apocalyptic weather and war, it becomes good to get every soldier armed as best as you can, with them even finding supplies.
Let's just hope the campaigns are less predictive. Although I will say it's pretty weird how well they nailed the whole Germany and Japan invading Eruope and the Pacific.
As a HongKonger it’s sad to see the scence in BF4 become reality, another landmark and historical building/ship in Hong Kong are gone, just like many other things disappearing in Hong Kong. Btw great video FlakFire glad you mention this event to let more people to know.
Sunken dragon was one of the few BF4 maps that I didn't know the exact location because there are other similar boats in other cities but now I knlw this one is inspired on that one
a strong argument could be made for just reading the writing on the walls. the last expansion to the Suez was in 2014 and since then the largest cargo ship in 2022 was significantly larger than in 2014 (IIRC a doubling to tripling in size, prior to that 1975 was the last expansion and the same deal, freighters had gotten way larger since the last expansion), scientists had been complaining about the Arecibo for quite a while and it was in the process of being phased out which is why it's loss was pretty minor in scientific circles. Our world is huge and keeping track of everything is nearly impossible for one person so surprises are often only surprises for people outside of specific industries.
I noticed in 2042 that the main service rifle of the US is called the M5, based off of the SIG MCX Spear. This recently was adopted by the US army as a service rifle replacement. Mind you this happened just recently, so dice had no way of knowing that that would happen. Better yet the real US army designation is XM5 (m5 👀) I say dice had no way of knowing this but this is just my running theory.
Nah. This progaram had been alive since 2017. Probably gun nerds like dice were having eye on it and choose one gun themselves. The trick is...does some north european programmers really had same thoughts as american generals 0_0?
@@kolper6799 I was thinking about that aswell, the program being from 2017 and all that, they’d know about the gun in the competition but they didn’t know it would win out of the others. Also as far as I know the army never released their own designation for it before they won (XM5) but I could be wrong.
@@kolper6799 Usually devs like DICE and their Activision counterparts (except for I guess Sledgehammer lmao) have some consultants that are or were military personnel to help with the development of the game, these guys can give hints on weapons the US Military/NATO and Russia are testing so might be a good idea to put that into the games. Hence MW2019 have the M17 SIG pistol and the SIG MCX (aka the M13) in the game… or the XM8 back in BC2
@@sandalogaming6766 I thought its unpopular thing to do. I mean I heard like sniper elite devs to that, maybe Nikita Byianov that makes tarkov. But other than that I have no info. I mean. If some companies make an addition of some useless stuff like an inovation in gaming in their ads, why cant they do that with consultations aswell. Like:"for your best experience we did involved certified experts in development". But yeah, that would be even simpler and more senseble explanation.
I've talked about this with friends, not only do they nail these things, many of the maps and scenarios are hotspots in present day, but wasn't back when BF4 released.
@@Legion849 Not necessarily, lore isn't always explicit, it's the art direction and the way they make the game itself, the music, the art, in this case the weapons and specialists
Hey there Flakfire, I do have one event that looks similar in the Battlefield Franchise particularly BF1 that's sort of a Real Life Event prediction, and that's is the Forest Fires on Verdun Heights and the 2020 California Wildfires. Both event started on Februrary though the clear difference between the two was that one started 104 years ago on the 21st while the other started 2 years ago on the 15th (about 6 days later before the 104th anniversay of the start of Battle of Verdun). I could be wrong.
I mean an event that also happened recently which could cause the kesler effect was the solar flare in Feb of this year that knocked 40 of Teslas starlink satellites out of their orbit.
also dont forget the U.S army selected a new standard issue next generation rifle the SIG MCX, In battlefield 2042 its called the M5a3 is the same gun how did they know that was gonna be the gun the U.S military picks out of FOUR other guns that were competing to win the contract? Even in the in game description for the "M5a3" says it has been the standard issue rifle since 2034. Now yes, thats 12 years from now, HOWEVER, the "A3" in "M5A3" designation implies that this is the 3RD model of the rifle with the latest improvements. The U.S military has done this in the past with the M16a3 and A4. Lets say within the 12 year timeframe, every four years another model of the gun was released. Which is completely reasonable, and that would mean that the "M5A1" version would have been adopted SOMETIME IN 2022! Scary!
The M5 (SIG Spear) was already in testing for a while when the game launched. With most of the development time having been spent on making the new engine, it wouldn't be surprising if they threw the M5A1 together after the trials were publicly announced. Given the US military's history with weapon adoptions, it isn't hard to predict that they'd chose the one most similar to the M16 and M4 they currently had in service. It's the same level of prediction as the AK-12 and variants from BF4, which were in development with Kalashnikov but had not been adopted or even submitted for trials at the time and ultimately did replace the antiquated AK-74 in Russia's arsenal. Even the stuff from the Final Stand DLC of BF4 was still based on stuff the military was working on or had shelved even years prior. (US Navy has been working on railguns since at least 2009, and hovertanks were shelved in the early 2000's pending further advances in propulsion technologies)
in amsterdam we have a floating building like the sea dragon only its called sea palace it looks more like the game version then the one they made it from
It’s also worth a minor meantion that dice correctly predicted the M5A3. As there was a weapons contracted competition between 3 companies. Long story short dice chose the company who won the contract for the next US infantry rifle. This prediction was made 5 months before it was made official by the government.
They also predicted the Hong kong revolution/protest. For those who haven't played BF4 campaign, in the game China is going through a revolution and you and your fellow marines try to help free the people of China from its totalitarian leader.
Actually, they did predict what Battlefield 2042 is gonna be. In almost every map there is this weird clean white room with a big mirror and some little doors in it that leads to even smaller rooms. The prediction is within those small rooms
On the upside, you will be able to buy a wingsuit with wich you will be able to fly 10 kilometers when jumping from 2 meters high, so it isn't all bad...
"Battlefield is a franchise known for taking things over-the-top, you never really expect things to be realistic" I think i can hear all the hardcore only players cry right now XD
Flak why you always making wanna go back and play older generation games I love battlefield four but sometimes even if your vids have nothing to do with bf3 it makes me wish the ps4 or 5 could play bf3 :edit Dice should definitely remaster bf3 that would be soo amazing!!
Or maybe they are not predicting future events rather future events are happening because of the games... maybe people in power take notes of the game and make them real life. 🤔
