@@brittamorgan6584 the manga is a thousand times better than the movie, especially since it has a cohesive story. The movie really needed to be a three parter to get all the material straight so it got butchered when smashed down into one movie. I really hope you like it when you get around to reading it!
I love people. Managing resources and organizing societies is so deeply engrained in us that we not only pretend to do it, for fun, but we also watch other people pretend to do it, for fun. Never change, humanity.
"But there are rumblings. Things change. And what if, tomorrow, cities woke, and went walking? If Tokyo engulfed your town? If Vienna came striding over the hill toward you? If the city you inhabit today just upped and left, and you woke tomorrow wrapped in a thin blanket on an empty plain, where Detroit once stood, or Sydney, or Moscow? Don't ever take a city for granted. After all, it is bigger than you are; it is older; and it has learned how to wait..." -Neil Gaiman, SimCity 2000
Julia was commenting in the beginning on how some pants make her midsection stand out on stream, and honestly whenever I noticed that I always thought it was real cute!! Idk, it made me feel a lot more confident in my body (because my stomach does that too) and I've always thought if it looked so nice on Julia, it would look nice on me. I really think both Julia and Jacob have made me more confident experimenting with my appearance by being so kind about it on stream and I really feel grateful for that!
Dave was always there when you needed him, always eager to help, always did what was best for the tribe, but you never trusted him. I am pro-Dave and I'm not ashamed to say it. Dave deserves better.
I just love how Julia drops these random facts into conversation about herself and her parents, as if they're just common things that everybody does. Like her Dad transported explosives and taught her Apocalypse survival skills and her Mum wrote a paranormal romance novel and was a paramedic at one point. Honestly if Julia wrote about a book about her family and her life, I'd buy it.
As someone with a degree in linguistics, I would argue that Jacob is right that people are capable of using context clues to figure out which pen/pin he is referring to. But getting confused is also to be expected, if youre used to 2 different pronunciations. But that's the type of hurdle humans have always been able to overcome. There always has been and always will be a great diversity in language, including within any given individual languages. English has a reputation for being wild and crazy but I feel 60% of that is just our horrible spelling system which is mostly the result of a random sound change that happened AFTER the spelling was locked down - it needs reformed, a thing many other languages periodically do, but it probably never will be for a myriad of reasons - the other 40% is our long love for borrowing words from other languages and then using their grammar instead of converting to our grammar, the way nearly every other language deals with borrowings.
Me and my girlfriend are going thrift shopping tomorrow and now after watching the beginning of the video I'm even more excited! We are looking for stuff for pirate costumes and also maybe some nice coats because it's getting colder and we need more coats and I love her so much and I'm so excited to walk around with her gosh I'm rambling and I sound a little bit like a dog. I swear to god we're both adults, and none of us are dogs.
As a fellow southerner, Jacob is valid in saying pin and pen the same way, and I agree that context clues are more than good enough because there is like. Almost NEVER a time where you're talking about one but could be easily talking about the other. It's always pretty clear. If it wasn't, southerners wouldn't be able to get away with saying the same way in the first place.
Jacob, you did a great recovery job on that episode! We all make mistakes, just gotta let them slide on by and move on. It’s tough to do, but shit happens and we can’t let it impact us. One day at a time.
if there's ever a need for a chill game to play on stream I recommend coffee talk, idk if it's on steam but I don't see why it wouldn't be pc playable, essentially you're a coffee shop owner in a fantasy world listening and helping customers w their problems, it has great lgbt rep w/o making it a huge deal and the art style is rlly pretty, the only downside is that there is quite a bit of talking needed
They actually have played Coffee Talk on stream before, you can watch it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eZ4y5g1_pf0.html -Khaztaroth
Fantastic job with the subscriber mentions Jacob! That was quite the slog, and you nailed it! Also, I'm loving the pre-game fashion talk. I'm a fashion slob personally, but I can appreciate those that care about their fashion and are excited to talk about it.
1:33:28 i think it would have been a good idea to have Onbu sleep and stop walking all together towards the poisonous forest until they had a Decontaminator up and running.
Oh Julia, Permaculture is the dream of owning your own house and land, unfortunately we just got news of something called PFA in the rainwater and it can be removed but it requires distillation or reverse osmosis or ionization filtration.
I really hope y'all play more of this in the future, maybe as it updates further. This was such a nice chill stream and the chat inclusion in game was a nice touch!
Y'all heard about that new game, trombone champ? I don't know if it would make a good stream game but I would give anything to see Jacob and Julia play it lmao
i am so excited and happy to hear julia talk about the nausicaä manga it is so fucking good and cool!!!!!!! it is my favorite book and movie i love hearing anyone talk abt it. also hot archeologist is the highest compliment and i would not explain julia's style any other way.
Julia and Jakob talking fashion, while I'm just sitting here in my PJ shorts and a SAO hoodie my brother got on Ali Express and didn't fit him at all, so I stole it..
i love people in the yorkshire also say pin and pen almost in the same way, so I can't hear the issue when jacob says it XDD (I don't leave there but my English family does and that's how I always heard it when I was a kid
45:23 I'll take "People Who Think They're Above Society Despite Enjoying Things Like Roads, Grocery Stores, And The Internet On A Daily Basis" for 400, Alex.
I didnt realize y'all played The Wandering Village until I saw the fit check in a "they're so gender" compilation snd that's the funniest way I've ever found one of your old streams
I hate that I gotta bring this up here. But Julia is right, honestly if Jacob hadn't said anything, I would have just thought it was some encoding errors, and them cutting short pieces audio/video like they do sometimes. That piece was magnificent. Jacob Replicated all their styles so well.
