This War of Mine Basic Strategy Guide 

I think that the things you should focus on are usually food, water, safety, and misery. Bruno’s special ability is great since you have a 50/50 chance of getting some food. That plus a stove to multiply your raw food is excellent. Once you have a good supply of food with either Bruno or the stove, make sure to have a water filter. You don’t want to waste too many spaces grabbing water each night. When you don’t have water it’ll make it more likely that misery goes up and it’s tough/annoying to get misery down. I like the tip about using the map. Food and water is important for just survival, but protection is important too. At least one melee weapon and a character with one or more rerolls so that the weaker night raids won’t wound. Wounds suck, they get worse and worse or they need expensive bandages. Eventually you’ll need beds but that can come later, your characters are functional even if they haven’t slept in days. Food, weapons, water, heat, beds, and misery and the most important factor to survive this game.

This is some really good information! Some things I hadn't considered before. People either seem to love or hate this game...not many are on the fence. It is definitely difficult and I have yet to make it to the end but I always enjoy it. I think a lot of the people that don't like this game are failing to see the level of forethought and strategy it takes to make to the ceasefire. This has me exited to get it back to the table to try some of your strategies. Great video!... Thanx.

Thanks for this! I followed your tips and I won both my first two playthroughs. The first one was very barely hanging there, but the second one I only lost one survivor and picked up two more, and ended up with almost no conditions on the four characters.

Awesome video exactly what I was looking for. What are your thoughts about the action on location cards to look around? Do you only do that when you are trying to avoid a bad exploration card?

Actually, I’ve seen a little more of your video. It’s a pretty good strategy. It’s good to have multiple actions in the day to get new people, poke about, or scavenge in the house, and that requires a bed. Protection comes from a stranger or a board up or metal workshop.

Thanks for you tips, very nice. When you sleep with your players do you sent a player in bed and others on the floor? Cause only one can go in bed. Another question: opinion about other side of the board? I like it so much but a lot of people play with base version. Thanks

Wicked video and what an amazing help! Maybe i'll survive a little longer next time... 18:45, I was wondering if this is a legal move? I thought that the cards are also obstacles. Since all actions need to happen simultaneously (placing all your characters and then resolving their findings all at the same time), does the first heap not block the orange player from going behind to clear the second one? I've never placed 2 character side by side whilst clearing...

Hi, one thing here, you're saying that, on 1st actions of your characters, you can search both heaps, can you really? is it not true that, second heap on the right is simply blocked be one on the left? so really in 1st action you can search left heap, then wait until all 1st actions of your characters are resolved and after, when you do 2nd round actions, you can actually get to the right heap? at least that's how I understood the rules
