If anyone has looked into the production of this aircraft, they'll be aware of how modular it is. Meaning they can alter the shape of the wings & tail sections easily for different configurations. You would understand this if you were aware of the production facility that has been built to produce the aircraft. To say it's like something out of the future is an understatement. They're cutting down the usual 4 to 5 years production & testing of wing configurations to 100 days. They're doing this by manufacturing these configurations with the world's most advanced 3D printers. Meaning one version can be built for the Royal Navy, one can be a specialist air to air fighter, one a drone controller & so on. This is massively reducing costs. It's telling all major fighter aircraft producers are now looking to follow this route of production. To say it might be controversial spending the money on this aircraft instead of upgrading the F-35b couldn't be further from the facts. The single main reason the British decided to build their own gen 6 aircraft was the F-35b & it's terrible performance for the costs to keep it flying. Only it would be controversial to mention this fact publicly. The facts are the F-35 in all configurations has been a massive disappointment. It's capabilities aren't anywhere near the expected ones. It isn't only the British who decided to build their own aircraft after receiving the F-35 either. If you think about it, if the F-35 was so good why feel the need to go to all that expense building a completely new aircraft yourself?
@peterlangan1181
@peterlangan1181 Год назад
Accurately stated …by you. With the F35 the US MICC managed to produce a really expensive poorly performing hanger Queen, that proves that the MICC is all about money …..not about producing a top aircraft.
@seaofenergy2765
@seaofenergy2765 11 месяцев назад
The F35 is not a terrible aircraft in the slightest. Thats a load of bollocks. Its the most state of the art fighter in the air and its extremely small radar cross section, capability to network with other craft, drones and systems, and its highly advanced sensor suite make it far superior to anything else currently in the air. Dogfighting doesnt matter anymore, being able to acquire targets and shoot your missiles before the enemy can even acquire you means you win. Remember in any realistic scenario it will be working in theatre with american aircraft so the connectivity will really come in to play there as well. Theres so much anti-f35 nonsense out there that is stuck in the mentality of yesterdays air wars and misses the point of why its so good.

i like the sleek, minimalistic, clean futuristic look it has. its a good look and a cool name. But, the f-35 tho. it is probably a flop but even so its pretty redundant. the purpose was to make a next generation CAS for a conflict for near peer countries. and you are right to say that a lot of things coming out of America are triple decadent when it comes to logistics. really expensive and costly to maintain. making something practical like tempest with low cost and reduced time really is a way to go... but America does good by its technology. even if its triple redundant and sometimes makes huge financial blunders with its enormous budget. but i dont think the F-35 is entirely useless. just really costly and almost pointless. especially that America will probably never be in a near peer conflict. China if at all. but F-35 is supposed to be the most advanced electronically, with the best radar best spoofing, best missile defense, so and so. i think America could profit from this approach in their defense spending. instead of emphasizing on all the bells and whistles that will probably go over budget and be a logistical nightmare they could try to aim for simplicity and practicality. the tempest looks great. im happy that the UK is on our side. I hope America can try to take note and explore this approach more often instead of spending a pretty penny on everything that looks flashy.

@@bigstevie1690 Queen Elizabeth class is designed to have catapults installed and the space for the catapults is still under the deck and as the multirole fighter jet would not enter service till 2035. So the idea would be to do the Aircraft carriers mid refits earlier.The multirole fighter jet would not be VSTOL but it would be possible to make a sub variant that uses a similar system to what the harrier used as the multirole fighter jet would be a twin engine fighter jet so if a VSTOL sub variant was designed and developed it would be the first twin engine VSTOL fighter jet and it would also be the first 6th generation VSTOL.Also the Multirole Fighter Jet would not really compete with the F-35 because of it being twin engine and 6th generation and one big major difference is the Multirole fighter jet would have one variant for carrier operations (Catapult) and for land operations similar to the F-18 and F-14 but obviously the VSTOL would have to be a separate variant but the aim would be for both variants to be as similar as possible when it comes to parts so it is like operating one variant Multirole Fighter Jet, Multirole Fighter Jet VSTOL and Tempers but obviously Tempest would be a completely different airframe but would share a lot of parts with the Multirole Fighter Jet for commonality.

I agree that makes sense. The Royal Navy is clearly being expanded and built up in power. If they just build it as a navalised aircraft the RAF can share it with the Royal Navy just like it could with the f35c or f18 Superhornet if they had bought those instead of the f35b.

Nope, eurofighter was indeed a 4th generation jet, while it is typically unclear what makes a plane different generations, 5th gen normally means it has stealth capabilities. The UK has also purchased a small number of F-35s, which are 5th gen however as I said you don’t need to go through generations in order.

The wooden mockup of what it might look like has been followed up by artistic renderings. Some look like the F22 while others with diamond wings look like The YF 23. Renderings of America's Next Gen fighters often have no vertical tail elements like the B2 and B21. This alone reduces their RCS. Will the New GE combined cycle engine propel America's next Gen to Mach 10 or faster? How many drone wingmen will it control, two or three? No glass cockpit. all visuals are on computer screens for the manned versions. From what I hear the US is already thinking about 7th generation fighters and bombers that will replace the B21 that isn't even in service yet. But will there be any enemies around to justify these weapons. At the rate things are going with Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea there may not be any.

Also research like advanced energy research to dangerous to study on the earth..like detonation of fusion war heads, or construction, and launch of Orion nuclear star ships. The colony must have some form of fighter,bomer, troop, cargo transportation sytem. Preferably stealthy enough to avood pirates.. So when we are able to colonize the closes plants with autonomous robot workers to strat the process to create cities on the moon,and mars. Like building radation shelyers, hydroponics to produce food, and ,recycling waste water, and corbon dioxcide to make oxygen. Create eltricy, computer chips, and the eltronic tec, robot vehicles etc. That will be need before any human researcher, Or even a earth born lab rat, or rabit, could live there even short-term. Then scientists and astronomer could use these places to create cures for diseases like covid, or do experiments that are to dangerous for the people of the earth on another planet. Quality also runs the risk of budget shortfalls and, as we have seen so many times before, this will lead to an inadequate number of assets or just cancellation of the project.

What the tempest is sub-sonic either super-sonic fighter jets ? What's the capacity to load arms and per kms speed thrust ? What kind of radar avonic s technology has added in its ? Is it true that the tempest is 6th generation fighter jets ? When or which year the tempest will be activated. ? When the world people's will see it ?

Might want to work on your grammar a bit. 99% of fighters nowadays are supersonic so I assume the tempest will be to, it will (hopefully) start to be introduced in 2035 and we still don’t know too much as it’s a while off and BAE have said the plane could accommodate new technologies that haven’t even been invented yet

Funny how the tempest and the germano-French SCAF look like each other, instead of building again 2x the same plane at ridiculous costs could we this time you know get 1 euro plane for everyone instead of 2 semi identical competing jets please or am I just asking for too much here, plus to be honest the crewed plane is important but it’s not the main part of the system so until I see the combat buddy drones , the decoy drones ect basics the whole fleet such an aircraft is supposed to control like a mini airport tower, all they showing us is vague F-22 raptor fighter airframes… which isn’t 6 th gen but 5 th gen since the definition of 6 gen is having all of the 5 gen toys plus a whole fleet of drones and new weapon systems, per exemple interestingly it’s the munitions that change the definition a lot too, on top of the integrated network infrastructure and wing men mission specific drone fleets, I mean stealth missiles you can’t detect till it’s too late, hyper sonic minutions , pure kinetic munitions, possible direct energy weapons and why not if direct energy weapons are possible then small railguns or coil guns could be part of the suits for self defense, all those elements is what make a 6 th gen fighter not just the air frame so stop showing us vague air frame models and tell us and show us the meat of the programs

The UK aircraft industry does not have a great track record of going it alone! There is no way it will be allowed to compete with the US on its own, some of the greatest aeronautical advances have come from the UK but always at a massive financial loss. I hope the project is successful but it will be a multi national project.

I really wish the UK has America's black budget money we'd 100% have the best fighter in the world but we don't so we always have other nations having their inputs which totally compromises what we want to do to many cooks is what I mean I'm sure other countries think the same lol

Given that Tempest project is as much a next-gen technology testbed concept as an actual work-in-progress aircraft design, it's likely that technology from it would be incorporated into a future major upgrade to the F-35 rather than creating an entire new naval version of the Tempest aircraft. (The reason why the F-35 could be upgraded with next-gen technology while the Typhoon couldn't is simply because the F-35 is much newer & designed with future upgrades in mind, whereas the Typhoon is now quite an old design & much less flexible from the get-go.)
