My take is poketubers have hyped this set up and created FOMO in a bull market. So it will sell well initial but long term not sure how well will do with upcoming sets and 151 restock/reprint in 2025.
Nah it's just becoming more popular so people are coming in to make quick money. Most people are saying it's a decent set but not the next evolving skies.
Not related to poketubers, just hella money sitting on the sidelines waiting. Shrouded Fable was a fumble by Pokémon both in the actual cards in the set and the delayed release. Then there was Stellar crown, simply just a good set, probably picked up a modest position in that. Hence, a good chunk of money left over. Natural demand for sure. Rip n shippers, investors, collectors, players all are foaming at the mouth for Sparks. It touches all the bases. Extremely happy I backed up the truck and loaded up HEAVY on sparks. Can’t wait to see $200 in a couple months 😊
Man… I was going to make a video like this. The hype and set is really similar to Vivid Voltage but I gotta say Surging Sparks is multiple times better. I think the fact that the last sets have not been super crazy is definitely pumping the price up too. Great video big bro!
Couldn't agree more. I don't think anyone can look at the chase cards of both sets and say they are similar. The only similarity is they both have electric names.
So did bb and everything on pc. Moment of truth is launch day. Seen many sv sets go oos only to pop up again on release . With this demand I wouldn't be surprised if it got cleaned out
I uave argued with multiple people about this exact topic. Vivid voltage is not even in the same league as surging. Surging has so many good chase cards, if pull rates stay this set will have expensive cards, eill be opened, and will have high demand. If they end up printing it to oblivion is the only way this set doesnt climb fast and get really expensive. Vivid has a low amount of secret rares and 1 chase card surging has 6 top hit cards and is extremely deep. Lazy comparison because of the pikachu. This set is not ES but its closer to that then VV.
Surging Sparks is giving me Vivid Voltage/Shining Fates vibes. So glad you pointed that out. Now look at those sets. I know Surging Sparks is a better set but people never learn. I am staying away from Surging Sparks till the dust settles. Not buying into the hype and FOMO because that's how you lose money.
Lose money, lol. Yeah, you buy at pre-order entry level $169 aud. The worst-case scenario, be very surprised if it drops below that. You look at what s&v sells for $165 Aud, and it x10 better set, so I think you are just looking at excuses, mate.
It’s great having top promo cards but Magneton should’ve been in the set, in terms of artwork it obliterates most of the other cards in the set. Top vid mate🤙
The downside risk I'm investing is called time decay which is exactly what vivid voltage has suffered. It's funny how desperate those overpaying for surging sparks are trying to tell you too buy it to. Seems disingenuous.
@gilbertdenis1243 yea i like those shiny 151 fullart reprints, the special gold cards and of course bubble mew, gardevoir ex and charizard ex. 3 of s&v biggest and most valuable chase cards. Only downside: just 4 art rares with the promo but therefore we got 6 unique gold cards and a lot of baby shinys. Also when it comes to grading Paldean Fates might have the highest total value in Scarlet & Violet. So yea i'm serious
@@starkiller1341 Weirdly VV and Darkness Ablaze might be decent nostalgia sets just because people might associate them with that mad time during covid.
I think people are comparing how hyped up the set is. It is eerily similar to vivid voltage. Of course the set is better but there’s a lot to be said about to much hype. This set will be an afterthought when the next set comes out.
Thank you for being the voice of reason, Michael. I will, of course, be investing in this set, but as you said, the prices are almost surely to relieve after this pre-release hype. I'll be saving my money to buy up more of it for the same amount.
I've purchased one each of the past 19 sets booster boxes. The most I paid for any single box was £104 and that was Evolving Skies. Don't FOMO or "invest" in Surging Sparks now at £140/£150 a box. Wait a month, two months, and the price will be around the £90-£100 mark. The trend has been fairly consistent on this here in the UK other than a set like Vivid Voltage but as this video mentions, the external factors at play caused the massive uplift for many months. Those factors are now gone. Don't FOMO!
I disagree. Prices will never drop below 130 on the market ever again. All additional reprints will be swallowed just as fast. It is underprinted and we are at the beginning of a new pokemon card BOOM but this time all Organic and not caused by the pandemic and free checks. Invest right at beggining of pre-orders or you lose out. These are NOT going back to 90-100. There's millions of packs being opened a week by rip and shippers alone, with thousands of new accounts ripping weekly. This is driving demand the most
Bro look into this. Something like $86 trillion dollars is about to be inherited from baby boomers to gen x and millenials in the coming years. People will be investing HEAVILY into their nostalgia as the original base pokemon fans from the 90s are entering into their 30s and 40s with children old enough to get more and more of them back into pokemon. This is a generational boom that will be lit with extra rocket boost by large inheritances.
Also people's income start to peak in their 40s. So original pokemon card fans from the 90s are becoming wealthier and higher income year over year on average. Look at income charts by age.
If amazing rares had just been harder to pull then it probably wouldn't have hit the deck quite so hard. The set was really shallow in terms of hits and the demand was clearly not justified. I got caught up in it and still have a case sat there.....almost breaking even after all this time lol. Surging Sparks is a very different beast IMO, Even if you discount the hype, there is so many chase cards. I of course have my sealed case on order but this is also the first set in a while I am going to be opening for myself. Hydreigon SIR, Latias SIR Lasios IR, Milotic IR and Ceruledge IR are all chase cards for me. Won't say no to the Pikachu SIR either......
Agree surging sparks is much more polished set compared to Vivid voltage and probably the second or third best Scarlet and violet set (so far), but definitely not a evolving skies tier set…evolving skies is probably in a tier on its own when it comes to modern sets
I still have VV sleeved packs that cost $7 USD each way back when. Going to be sitting on them a long time. Thank goodness I waited to buy BBs until they came way down in price!
I find this set to be so mid I feel like the hype just kept multiplying because so many people are talking it up and it’s at the point that it is now. PC ETBs are sold out, like why? The reason 151 PC ETBs are doing so well is because there were no 151 booster boxes so if you’re looking to invest in any 151 sealed product then the pc ETBs are your best bet. But with surging sparks there are the booster boxes to buy instead of the pc ETBs
@@pokeoz91 there's only a few of them regarding pokemon center being sold out it will be good for you seeing that you were promoting the Pokemon center ETbs
@pokeoz91 it think will be good seeing that you were promoting the Pokemon center ETbs and there's only a few videos out there regarding the sell out on the Pokemon center
That Sjinji Kanda Magneton from Pokemon Center ETB in a PSA 10, may go crazy in the future. ETB is already marked as "sold out" on Pokemon Center US site. Insane...
@@smithgae Feel free to re-read AND comprehend my comment. "'A part' of the problem.'" "Oh this set's going to be popular, I better rush out and buy as many limited run items as I can to make them artificially rare to jack up the price."
Surging Sparks is just NOT THAT GREAT. It’s better than Vivid Voltage but it really isn’t an amazing set. If you bought in you’ll make your money back, but it’s no 151 or ES.
Vivid voltage and surging sparks doesn’t compare lol. People are silly. We are not comparing the set to evo skies but this set will do really well. We will see.
There are maybe 3 decent cards in this set. I don’t see the hype. I will say, vivid had zero chase cards outside of chonkachu. I also think Twilight is a garbage set so what do I know?
@@abadman972 I should clarify. I meant instead of magneton being a promo they should have swapped it for archalodon, a pokemon I can safely say no one cares about
@@ethanlupton we bought etb for the promo lol if it was that mofo building it would not sell , look at the last building box its still availaible for msrp 😂 😂
The sunk cost fallacy is the tendency for people to continue an endeavor or course of action even when abandoning it would be more beneficial. Because we have invested our time, energy, or other resources, we feel that it would all have been for nothing if we quit.
@@JohnDoe-ld8nrwhile this is true and does factor in, another factor is demand and perceived liquidity. Bigger issue with Vivid Voltage is comparatively, hardly anyone wants the stuff.
I bought a third box of Surging Spark Pokemon Center ETB yesterday before it sold out. My thinking is the promo card is so nice that it will probably be an expensive card even if the set isn’t great
For my investing, I just got six 151 Costco tins and one Paldean Fates tin. (Two for the nieces and nephews, two to store, two to open) One person beat me after the store opened--he grabbed a bunch of Paldean Fates because they were mixed together--I stopped him, and I was like, "Those are Paldean Fates, you want these. But you know, the Bubble Mew is exploding in value too."
"he grabbed a bunch of Paldean Fates" Great, a scalper was too dumb to look at what he was buying in a rush so he was going to waste a ton of his money on Paldean Fates instead of using it to clear the shelf of the 151 but you piped help and helped made sure he took all of the desirable product so no one else could get it at retail. Congrats, you donkey.
"he grabbed a bunch of Paldean Fates" Great, a scalper was too dense to look at what he was buying in a rush. So, he was going to waste a ton of his credit card space on Paldean Fates instead of using it to clear the shelf of the 151. Thankfully, you piped up and helped make sure he took all of the desirable product so no one else could get it at retail.
Surging Sparks is and will be the most solid SV set to date. (Yes even more so than 151 currently). It’s simple, just compare to current top 5 versions for Japanese market $200 pikachu, $150 Lisa’s Appeal, $100 latias ex, $70 hydragon, $60 pikachu ex. And english is almost always higher than Japanese version. That’s why I love pokemon more than stock market & other speculation, it’s simple and people yelling fomo or complaining about pikachu just wish they bought sooner. Sure they will reprint in the future but this will have a solid short term pop and even better long term growth, good night 💤
The obvious attempts at creating artificial Surging Sparks fomo on this channel are growing increasingly sad and pathetic with each passing week. Gonna have to change your name to PokeShill at this rate.
I haven't actually pre ordered any yet. I'm just excited for a really nice pokemon set, the best main set we've seen so far from Scarlet and Violet. Focusing on PE & TWM at the moment. Plenty of time for Surging Sparks.
I do see that Surging Sparks is a better set than Vivid Voltage in regards to set list. But the hype for it feels the same prerelease. And with Trainer pokemon / Team Rocket on the horizon next year I'm not going big into Surging Sparks. I will buy the Latias / Latios combo and be happy with It. I don't care much about the Pikachu art work at all. So it is to me of no use to buy heaps of products when I don't want to collect a whole set. In that regards it is like Shrouded and Stellar Crown to me. Those sets had a few really cool art work. But it is not up par with Paldea Evolved or Twilight. So I buy a couple of 3 pack blisters, crack em open and buy the singles I want. Going big with etb and booster boxes is reserved for the 2025 era sets. Otherwise it will end up putting money away for 4 years while it keeps stagnant like Vivid voltage. And I reckon to be better of allocating more money towards 2025 sets than the last half year of 2024 in that regards.
