As someone from LA, this was really special for us. It felt really personal especially the set representing Compton. The tam’s burgers, which was the sign on the set, are all over LA so it was really cool seeing that! Also Kendrick, Dr.Dre, and Snoop all being from the LA area makes it even more special cause they got that born & raised love for LA.
Born and bred in LA here and let me tell you, this was alll LA right there (Dre, snoop, Kendrick...) doesn’t matter the age, everyone was jamming out to this.
One NAME: Mary J Blige - The LEGENDARY QUEEN of Hip Hop Soul and R&B! And with that we see the importance of honoring the true legends of the history of the arts, those who founded the path!
@@katrinagarrett9612 Isn’t She both - People say she’s both, google even says she’s both. I grew up knowing her as the queen of RnB that’s why I said that. But hey I’m a late 90s baby, so I could be wrong lol
Most people definitely go for the game. Half time shows are culturally an American thing. It starts in high school football games with the bands during half time then college and then pros. We just live in a different culture. Because high schools in America have its own stadiums in all sports and even so much bigger in college. Depending on some schools even middle schools 6-8th grade have it’s own stadiums. Everything is just big in America and we love our sports.
Exactly! The SB half time show is just an added bonus; from High School to College, it's just how it is in America, and yes we love our sports. Btw, the NFL doesn't pay for the half time performance; the performers are the ones who pay for the high exposure. Hence; Dr Dre paid something close to 7 million to perform.
Most people go for the game, but almost as many, if not half of the people, watch for the half-time show. More people watched the half-time show than the actual game.
50 year old white moms DEFINITELY know Snoop Dog! Dre, PAC, Mary J, and 50 as well. We were shaking our asses to these songs in the club in the early 90’s! Everyone performing, except Kendrick is a Gen Xer, just like 50 (52 for me) year old moms. You’ll never be as cool as your mom was, or is!! 🤓 And that little move Snoop does when Dre sings, “untouchable like Elliot Ness,” is the crip walk. You need to find a 50 year old Middle aged white (or any race) woman to teach you about old school rap/hip hop! Much love!
No. Just no. You *know* Snoop Dog/Dre/Tupac, etc., and you may appreciate them now, but most of you didn't love them when you were young - and your Boomer/"Greatest Generation" parents HATED them, and were often outright racist towards them. Black people remember. White people have always had have to view black people and our culture through the lens of hindsight before they are able appreciate us. It's preferable if we are dead - then you'll REALLY appreciate us and see the light. It's only now that white people are coming to respect rap/hip hop - especially now that this music is the most dominant form of music in the world today, and your kids listen to it as their standard form of music. However, your music was Madonna, Nirvana, and Green Day - which is great, but let's not pretend that this music is your music. It was music that played in the backgrounds of your lives, which is why it brings you nostalgia, but you're not a fan of this music, nor were you when you were 25. Only a minority of you truly were. Tupac would be absolutely amazed at the types of people claiming to love his music now.
White Millennials and Gen Zers are a different story. They truly love and engage with this culture RIGHT NOW. They will truly be able to look back and say that they loved this type of music when they were 25, and that it played a pivotal role in their lives. I understand it's "cool" to claim it now as a 50-year-old, when this music is having its moment, but nobody will ever be fooled into thinking white Gen Xers as a whole truly appreciated this music at the time. Sorry.

@@jarelleglover8200 you do realize most lowriders in old rap videos were rented from chicanos? Now anyone can customize a lowrider but in the past it was a very Chicano heavy culture. It’s cultures borrowing from each other. Nothing wrong with that.
Definitely a top 5 halftime show, personally for me it was the most enjoyable of all time. Legendary and a great day for hip-hop! Dr. Dre will be recognized by the newer generation finally.
@@LilliLamour On top of that, Dre was playing I Ain't Mad at Cha as he took the knee. It definitely came across as a nod to Tupac, the head in your hand is typically a praying gesture. I didn't even consider the Kaepernick thing until I saw it on Twitter.
It was a symbolic Super Bowl as well as Los Angeles was the birthplace of the first Super Bowl. It was like a coming home party. Same stadium will host the opening ceremonies for the 2028 LA Summer Olympics.
These are the best rappers and singers to be at the Super Bowl 56 halftime show it was amazing. Mary J Blige was representing for the ladies and Dr Dre he has produced all of them. They did a phenomenal job Kendrick just outstanding they all were amazing. Dr Dre is an amazing producer this was well deserved for him take care.
All of them are iconic, and De. Dre made the beats to all their number 1 hit songs that went diamond status. His beats made there careers and he is amazing producer.
Em's greatest hits: Lose Youself, Not Afraid, Stan, Love The Way You Lie .... all written and produced by Eminem not Dre. Mary J Blige's: No More Drama also not by Dre. And technically Dre did not write or produce any of Kendricks hits either. I love Dre's beats but not all hits have come from him.
Not you downplaying Mary J Blige the Queen of Hip Hop Soul…. Just know Black people don’t play about Auntie Mary! She got no less than 25 hits period since 1992!
I've also been enjoying Britis reacting to when Whitney Houston sang the national anthem before the 1991 superbowl. It's probably the most iconic super bowl moment ever. Along with the 2004 halftime show which was also pretty great but it put an end to janet Jackson's career due to well just react to it.
Most people go for the game. You can stay home to see a better view of the half time show. And there is no swearing on regular commercial television before 10:00 p.m. There are rules because of children watching.
You mentioned the hateful Republican guy named Kirk. He and many in the Republican Party wanted to register their hate whenever they see more Blackness than they are use to. And as you said, I very much respect Eminem for kneeling as well!!
I read that the reason the audio for the vocals is like that is because the crowd was so hype and so loud that it bled into the mix, so they had to put effects on to dampen it.
@@isaach1317 His point is that that a concert with those 5 as headliners would attract more people than were in that stadium for the Super Bowl. Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with his.
Dre didn't produce Loose Yourself its an Eminem production. Some of Eminems most successful hits are produced by Em and not Dre. People just assume everything is done by Dre but Em is a brilliant (under rated) producer, produces his own beats, writes his own hooks and is the creative direction behind his videos. And produces for a lot of top tier rappers eg Em produced Renegade, he wrote it for Royce da 5'9 ... ended up giving it to J. His creative talent is brilliant. Great reaction 🤟🔥🍿
@@LilliLamour WRONG lovely! The song Lose Yourself was written by Eminem and produced by Eminem along with longtime collaborator Jeff Bass, one half of the production duo Bass Brothers, and Luis Resto. Songwriter(s): Marshall Mathers (music & lyrics); Jeff Bass (music); Luis Resto (music) Producer(s): Eminem; Jeff Bass; Luis Resto Genre: Hip hop, rap rock, Hardcore hip hop Studio: 54 Sound Studio (Detroit, Michigan)
@@kazidolezal Not wrong at all Dre produced the Beats. For that reason he was also marked as a producer on the track. What you're speaking of is that Em is head producer.
@@kazidolezal Stop talking about writing. Dre doesn't write anything. He CREATES Beats. That's what he's known for because that's what he does. Those are all of his beats.
Bet you knew Mary J Blige by the end of the performance young man....I thought I would loose my "spaghetti" when you said you did not know her...it's all love !...lol
Yes, you sound like a typical 60-year-old American white woman. The only "gangsta" up there is Snoop Dog. Being black and having a troubled past, or coming from a "bad" neighborhood does not make you a "gangsta"
bro when he saw 50 cent 😂! "Why are they hanging 50 cent from the ceiling?" 😭. Btw he was a surprise guest so thats why they didn't put him in the title or didn't announce him before the superbowl.
In the Music video of In tha club by 50 it was a video of Dre and Eminem making 50 when he started coming out of NY I think and the first part of the video when he was singing “Go Go Go Go” he was upside down
In the USA, on network TV, all explicit lyrics must be cleaned up or they will be cut. It’s also true of mainstream radio. This was a live show, so the network and Pepsi demanded a “clean” show from the artists. Cable is more relaxed, but oh well. Us Americans are endlessly grateful that men in gray suits are there to protect us from the terrible sinful damage a few swear words could inflict on our delicate sensibilities.
ALL THESE ARTISTS are still popular in America especially Snoop Dog. It’s always a lot of people in the audience…… sports Football, basketball, baseball and Hockey are big in the States. 50 was upside down because that’s how he’s in the video for the song went. Watch the video
Its funny because Dre was also told to not say still not loving police and just did not care at all. Snoop was told not wear any gang related clothing but his outfit was a crip suit the crips are the gang he is in and he threw up gang signs. It just funny they didn’t care because they don’t get paid for this so there was no risk
None of them were supposed to bring up the police because they were asked not to but some of them did it anyway and also Eminem wasn’t supposed to take a knee but he did it anyway
Most people, other than celebrities and influencers (and even some of them) go for the game primarily. The halftime show is just a happy accident. I know people that have a savings account just for a super bowl in case their team ever makes it back to the super bowl.
I promise you nobody would spend that much money to not want to watch the actual game, yes the halftime shows are nice but stadiums are filled even with a regular season game
