As a sympathy crier, I had no chance on this one. My dad died 3 years ago. I cried everyday for over 2 years. He is amazing and brave.

Each one gets better and better. He’s done 5 songs so far and his voice is like an embrace.

I feel so silly, but I will never forget this experience. As long as I live, this young man is phenom-for real.

I’ve listened to this song 20 times now at least and it’s brought me to tears every time, it’s incredible how he conveys his emotions in this song through his voice, you can tell how much love he has for his dad without ever hearing his backstory

if you had the privilege of having a present father and that has past away, iam tongi will pull your heart strings. the fact that a woman like katty perry did not shed one tear, (granted women have to deal with periods so they have a better grasp of their feelings), but i believe it shows how strong the bond is between a father and son.

I was a teacher in high school for his father in beginning typing class with the school business department. However, I could hardly recognized his father in the picture because he is grown up and change but the name is familiar as himself.

You should check out "Sounds of Silence," and the duet he does with another contestant. He's got me watching American Idol again after I stopped several years ago. He's in the top 24 currently.

He has a way of telling a story with incredible emotion in a calm & soothing manner. Just incredible. What a phenomenal way to honour his Dad & step into his adult life. It's worth reviewing his performances in order if possible, as he certainly has had an eventful time during this season's of AGT (soz American Idol). Other of his performances are 'I Can't Make You Love Me'; 'Sound Of Silence'; a duet singing 'Save Your Tears' & recently the comp moved to Hawaii & he sang a popular hidden gem (Polynesian-reggae song) called 'Don't Let Go'. The public voting is now on & I hope he gets enough to take him to the end. Thanks for the review, even though it was unexpectedly challenging, you handled it well.

I don't know how many times I've watched this audition or how many reactions to it I've watched, I still cry. Every time I hear him sing I get these unique chills on my arms and my heart opens up. He's special. I'm looking forward to your reactions. A heads-up, though, Iam's channel is called wtongi (all lower cases) @nu....... (something). There is an imposter that steals content from not only Iam's channel and social media but also from his family members' posting it as if he's. A lot of people think they are subscribed to Iam and a lot of people contribute with money to that channel. We keep reporting it, but it's still there. It keep changing its name but it's @Wtongi. I am now a fan!! P.S.: We live west of Seattle on the other side of Puget Sound. He said his family was priced out of paradise...that's no lie. We were stationed on Oahu and the only way we were able to afford to live there was to live on base with COLA added to our military pay. Hawaiian families live 3 to 4 generations in tiny homes. To be a tourist visiting the islands...be embarrassed. But to answer your Seattle question...oh yeah...where we live it is far more affordable to commute to work in Seattle and pay the cost of transportation. Housing in the Seattle area is ridiculous and we can't figure out why that is...oh well

Wow Travis , I lived all around Portland. Milwaukie, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Gladstone. I miss that area. Iam is am amazing talent and he just has a way of making you feel the words in a new way that is so very powerful. FIRE!!! They said he will fracture hearts and he will, then he will heal them.

The original song didn't effect me as much as Iam version. When he sings, he makes you feel the song right down to your soul.

I watch all Iam's permormance at American Idol and I was sobbing, I can feel his pain because I loss my mother when I was 6 years and then I lost my father when I just turn 15 years old and I had more connection with him than my mother since I was very young when she passed away. I am now 67 years old and have 2 wonderful daughter and a son. With Iam's permomances in American Idol touch your heart and soul and it's healing as well. It helps me to heal for losing our love one's. I understand how you feel Travis and missing your father as well. For me it's been a long long time ago but, still when I remember the time I spent the beautiful moment with my father still hard. Imagine with Iam Tongi just happened 2 months ago. I am pretty sure he has help a lot of people in the world heal with their loss with singing and soothing voice. He spread LOVE 💕

As if you haven’t cried enough, I wanted to let you know what happened during Hollywood week to Iam and his special guitar. So that guitar he’s playing was given to him by his dad when he was just a boy and his dad taught him to play. Iam planned to play it for each & every song in the competition, but as he’s preparing to go on stage for the duet, his guitar breaks! He was ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED and almost refused to go on stage. His duet partner has a sick dad so he totally understood and promised Iam he would help give him strength. When Iam took the stage, the judges couldn’t help notice how upset he was and as soon as he explained, Luke Bryan promised him that no matter what it took, the show would see to it that his guitar was repaired as quickly as possible. The judges cut him slack on that duet and in the next round, there was Iam, proudly beaming & crooning, his beautiful, special guitar at home once again strapped directly above his heart. CONGRATULATIONS IAM, THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL!!

So, so, so beautiful. I totally relate to this song, not in the sense that I have lost a parent, but I have lost 2 very significant people in my life. One was my grandmother on my mother's side, Lucy and the other one was my Aunt Karla, also on my mother's side. She was married to my Uncle, who was my mother's brother. My grandmother lived with us, basically until I turned 16. It killed me when she passed away. She basically was a surrogate mom to me growing up. Then a few years later, I was working full time and wasn't able to make it to Thanksgiving dinner with my family, who were out of state visiting. I called to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and such. Then about a week later, my aunt passed away from kidney failure. That was also why she wasn't able to travel and I knew that there was also the possibility that she would make it. I did however, have every intention of taking a trip to see her on my own. But that never happened. I never got to say goodbye and I have hated myself everyday since then.

By chance we had nothing to watch but idol and I saw this audition. I lost my dad just over a year ago and he got me with this one. We have watched every episode since and voted for him everytime. This young man is very likely to be the next American Idol! So happy for him.
