that gentleman who went to the Kia dealership and was told to just leave needs to call his state attorney. Most states have laws about advertising for sale a vehicle that isn't for sale on the lot. where I live, a dealer was fined over $100,000 several years ago for doing just that.

I went to a local Subaru. We are or were settled on a Subaru. We just didn’t know which one. The sales manager was mad that we kept coming back to test drive cars. I tried to explain to him that we were trying different models so we can make a decision but he wasn’t having it. He basically berated me in the middle of the dealership. I am not a young person and I was there with my wife. I will never go back to that auto mall. In fact I put the brakes on buying any car. Right now I would rather ride my bike. Here is what I see shaping up - the car manufacturer is under a lot of stress to build cars to be paid on - taking lower profits, having many hard challenges; yet the dealer is taking advantage of this and ends up being the one to reap huge profits under a lot less stress (or actually doing really any selling, and instead taking bids really on writing an order). The "brands" are going to increasingly feel betrayed and taken advantage of by their supposed "dealer partners".

Lets be honest here folks. The dealerships are ripping people off because most people walk into the store with anxiety and FEAR. these 2 elements alone will prompt the dealer to screw people. Not asking for manager when sales reps are rude or continuing on after being disrespected is training the dealerships to be evasive, elusive, disrespectful, DISHONEST, etc. The consumer has created a monster because they are too weak to stand their ground and/or they have not done their homework about the dealership, the F & I and even the particular vehicle they are interested in and the car-buying process overall. Its not like going to REI and purchasing a canoe folks. PERFORM DUE DILLIGENCE! Dont rely soley on youtube channels either because even some of those have dealerships behind them.

How is this idea for dealer reform laws... In some states, say for example, you are charged $2.99 for a can of soup at the grocery store and the soup was clearly marked on the shelf as on sale for $1.99. By state law the store has to A: Refund you the difference PLUS a percentage of the discrepancy or B: give you the item for free. If this law was extended to automobiles based on MSRP and or advertised pricing, then this would go a long way to eliminating predatory dealers and make the car buying process a bit less unpleasant.

@@cat-le1hf Has nothing to do with how I feel, it’s simple economics. I can see our pipeline we barely have any cars in production. In my opinion going forward the manufacturers and dealers will prefer to do biz this way. Before dealers would cut each others throats on new cars just to move a unit, literally making 2 or 300 bucks on a new car if even that to move it. Consumers has the luxury of simply calling everyone and getting “their best price”. Now dealers don’t have to do that and they don’t care how long it takes, with rates going up I doubt they want a big new car floor plan.

WHY THE HELL is it so difficult to buy a vehicle? Why cant I go in and buy a vehicle like I buy a new tv or microwave?. Dealerships are a pointless splinter in the customers purchasing experience. Vehicles and real estate are the only buying experiences that are totally pointless and are designed only to take the highest amount possible and scam or con you in to spending even more. I've been trying to buy a used vehicle for 4 months now with a lower than average credit score and $4000 a month income and $500 a month expenses. And How are we suppose to get what our credit score really is? Transunion & Equifax are bullshit and Experian is not on any monitoring apps that are free and most of all the FICO score is constantly difficult and not easy to get and ITS ALL A BIG CIRCUS TO SKREW THE CUSTOMER OUT OF AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE. People with good credit only means that they previously paid their bills not what there situation is heading into the future. I raised my score 100 points in one month by stupid little things you can do for free. That itself shows how credit scores are bullshit. I've never understood how dealerships get away with what they do. Their attitude and treatment of customers DIRECTLY REFLECTS on the parent brand. Be that KIA, Jeep, Ford, Toyota, BMW, pick your manufacturer. They have one chance. They can treat me well, or treat me like crap. And if they do treat me badly, they're very likely to turn me off the brand altogether. The manufacturers need to take note. Treat me well and you might have a customer for life. Treat me badly and you'll never get my money. This is marketing 101.

Here in the UK i have had more bad experiences than good with car dealers. I have been what felt like "escorted" out of the showroom on far too many occasions. You soon learn which dealers to avoid, this limits the brands you can choose from unless you are prepared to travel a long way to find a good dealer. There is some tie up between certain brands and the attitude of their dealers. The worst i have found are the German brands, the dealers are very brusk and the chances of getting a good deal are slim. On the other hand, Skoda dealers are mostly good, the better ones treat you as a valued customer, so why can't all dealers treat you this way? Car dealerships have killed themselves, reputation matters, it can take many years to build up a good customer base, it can be destroyed very quickly.

The Kia dealer had a 3k markup, plus a required add on called “pro pack”, which is $1295, but never mentioned on line, in ads or in person until closing. The Bolt dealership had their cars marked down by $5900 as that was done by Chevy, but then added back 5k as added dealer markup. It is honestly impossible to get a straight answer from anyone. I stopped at the VW dealer to get info on the ID4, but was told that I have to call and set an appointment to even talk to anyone. Not one EV6, Ioniq 5 or ID.4 listed on a dealers website was on the lot nor available. Not one.

Some of the best info is annual Cost of maintenance this can Vary by alot, Because all poorly maintained cars end up unreliable even if it's a Lexus.

There’s an inherent problem with order-only dealerships; a great many cars are sold when folks simply stop to “look around.” The appeal of taking possession of a vehicle you love immediately, is motivation to accept the increased payment or cost of the new car. How many deals would fall thru, or simply never happen, if people had to wait for weeks or months for their new car? A dealership would therefore sell ALOT less cars, as would the manufacturer of course. Now perhaps this new paradigm will work in the alt economy we’ve been experiencing wherein both production and demand are on a permanently declining trend.

I doubt you will be able to order either one, per se. Those Japanese manufacturers don’t do make to order. Instead you give your requirements and wants to the dealer and they try to find you a car in their incoming allocation that’s a good match. That was an OK model when inventory levels were high, but it sucks when they can’t keep up with demand. You end up with waits that are indeterminate, prices that can be a surprise, and it makes it hard to match one brand against another.

Hi, Brooklyn here. I have at least 2020 Volkswagen Passat and I want to add my lease earlier. I found a good deal. It was 2014 Toyota Venza had one owner to deliver us asking $14,000 and the car had around 86,000 mi. It was fully loaded with that sunroof. We agreed. I got to drop my car over there. They're going to take over my lease and then I'm going to just make it some payments for that. Venza. When I supposed to come the day they call me in the morning and they said we could have been sold. I said with myself okay let's try something else. Then they call me at noon same day and said that the vehicle is not available just because it has some issues they were not being able to fix it. Then I got frustrated cuz they been lying to me about the vehicle being sold. They were lying to me about the condition of the vehicle. Eventually I realized It was a bait, because there was the only one car at that dealership for the reasonable price and a lot of guys been calling about it and the salesperson reach me out and he was giving me something way different for more money. He was giving me three owner 150,000 Ford explorer for 15 or 16,000. And I realized that it's just a trick to take more people inside and just to track them and give them the old used and abused inventory. They want to get rid of it.

I was watching TV earlier today and I saw an ad come on for the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer…..when it came to the “starting as” price I almost fell off the couch….the STARTING price was 89K…EIGHTY-NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS, for a Jeep? I have nothing against Jeeps, but when did their reliability and overall quality under Fiat get to the point where they can ask roughly 100K (with options) for their vehicles. This is getting ridiculous.

Like I have said before on this channel. Dealers need to transition into a demonstration center model, like a car centered Best Buy. The staff is composed of " product experts " whose only job is to help the customer choose the right car for them. NO COMMiSSIONS ! No mark ups! There are cars in stock to test drive. The rest are either custom ordered from the manufacturer or a streamlined popular optioned versions pre shipped. Repairs are done in a warranty center other non covered repairs are done by outside shops. No more inflated prices, staff is paid a flat rate.

@@blinkin548 and that is what can be said about other places such as the Apple store yet people work there. Yes a lot of people will leave but will be replaced by others. I am just tired of dealers marking up past MSRP. My sister went looking for a car yesterday. Piazza Acura of Ardmore PA threw in a doc fee and had the audacity to say this is what keeps the lights on LOL. Luckily she said no thanks and walked out. Another dealer Elite Acura of Limrick PA marked up a car by 5k over MSRP as market value. Then sends a internet quote of MSRP!

@@npolite22 and what about Tesla? The model shows you aren’t avoiding a mark up. Try finding the model 3 for 30k these days. They did a 25% markup without calling it a markup. It was the new MSRP. As the market goes back to reality you’ll probably see the model 3 under 40k again.

Cor Gi and Zaynah are right....KNOWLEDGE is power. I did a "Rate the Dealer" on Parks Chevrolet in Richmond. They had about five dealer mark-ups on items I know I did not need...especially the Lo-Jack! HA! I've been watching your show, role-playing videos, dealer school and Saturday evening shows. I got smart on the whole process and was able to "take on" the sales rep and then his sales manager. I went in and informed them I did not want anything but negotiated the tint as I was going to get that done anyways. He informed me he could not budge and would not. I politely let him know I understand and "walked" as this was done via email/text. I left one final quote when I let him know, "a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush." About an hour later he texted me and said that we would do my deal. Again, keys are RESEARCH and knowing you're okay walking away! Love your shows. Keep up the great work informing us all.

Hello guys! I have been watching your videos for a while and learn some amazing things!! I noticed you had a video on how to buy MSRP?? I miss watching it... Can you by any chance let me know how to buy MSRP without that them adding that $10,000 hike they're asking for..... At the beginning of the year making February of this year I bought a brand new 2022 Chevy 1500 Silverado.... I wanted to buy it outright cash or something like car broke down I wound up having to get the truck giving $25,000 of the Dell payment plus the additional $5 00 for the total amount of $25,500...... I have 7,900 mi on the truck now from February to August of 22..... I went to go trade it in they're offer was $23,500 for the trade in... Looking at a 3500 Chevy Silverado truck they just got in. The only problem is the vehicles that they got in or a small amount and they were all 2500 to 3500 they were diesel trucks. I don't like diesel cuz I don't know that much about them and I hate that they're turbo diesels. And the sales guy was telling me they had added a $10,000 price on the vehicle which I saw MSRP was $84, 000 plus and they were adding $10,000 to the sticker price plus the addendum sticker on a brand new vehicle.... When I bought the 1500 Silverado they were trying to do the same adding more to the sticker price plus the addendum sticker. But on the 1500 I told him to take all that bull 🐂 shit off and I would buy the truck!!! So I got the truck but I took the addendum sticker and the extra amount that they wanted for it.... I still feel I got screwed somehow on this deal I call the bank who has the title on the vehicle for a copy of the contract and matched it up to the copy of the contract that I got and it all matches up down to the price of a vehicle.... It took him the bank 3 months before I could get a copy of the contract that I have been calling for from the very beginning.... I want to trade my truck for a new one The service department tells me to wait till the 2023s come out but I kind of like the ones they got there but yet they're 2022s they're diesel the interior is nice and they're long beds and they're 3500!! So my question to the both of you how can I buy at MSRP without getting really screwed on the $10,000 added to the maroni sticker or the addendum sticker I know I did it once but the way you talked about it was totally different..... Any suggestions on how to go about having them remove the $10,000 upgrade in price they're trying to do??????? Trying to charge extra.

Here's the way I see it. Americans don't negotiate prices for anything except cars and homes. In other countries people negotiate every day for small daily purchases and are therefore more comfortable negotiating. American buyers are unfamiliar with negotiating, but the salesperson is a trained professionally skilled negotiator. Whether actual or not the buyer feels like they are being taken advantage of.

Kia is the worst. I had a 2013 Kia Sorento and quoted me $12k to replace an engine but luckily they were able to start it. That was for a used engine. I was interested in their carnival van and wanted to add $7500 markup on the base model. I would never buy a Kia ever again. Bought a 2022 Honda Odyssey without markup and 100% happy with it. Kia have really nice cars but not worth it for the markups and service.

I just got done dealing with the dealership today over 2020 Telluride with 40,000 miles on it and they Jack the price up for what they advertised it for over the weekend while they let me wait cuz they said they couldn't get a hold of anybody to finance and then when I go back to get the car they mark it up 50 Grand from 47 to 50 in a matter of 3 days walked out I'm never going back to another dealership again I'd rather ride a bike. These Kia guys be thinking their cars are better than gold and they're fairly new to the industry. The only good thing I can say is I walked out not 50 Grand in debt and with 2,000 bucks in my pocket still they can keep the car and let it rot on their lot

As for buy a car and the Rep sez OK leave... Maybe rent the car for a weekend, some rental company's have we end rates. A guy can not remember his name said go on the last day of the year, a few hours before closing get a demo model. Sales ppl get various bonus$$$ and may move to a lower price with these buyer advantages.

I have a little knowledge, not much but supply and demand is important to the operation of a business. is it possible that some of these auto makers are shooting themselves and crippling so much of their business. First because they should have had some insight and action related to consumer need and the chip lack. I think most consumers are not asking for theses huge advances in tech. they want function and availability. Also how will Ford and other manufacturers sell the stacked up supply of vehicles as new when they have been sitting for so long. I have lots of other questions but I see failure in all of this and leaving huge holes in the system for new honest startups in the auto manufacturing business.

The only thing I can say is that all people have a clue about buying a car. From insurance to finance and credit score. If I heard it right from you that a salesperson can be annoyed that the customer is unprepared. I don’t think it’s fair that innocent people are thought of that way. To me, the salesperson should help them anyways. It would be a learning experience for them and if you have done their jobs they may be back when it’s time to trade. I love this show and this is is the first I’ve heard negativity. Continue to throw negativity towards the dealership as always 🕺
