Diana Buttu, so natural and so humane. She obviously found some of that interview difficult, but kept it together. I think she is right. I think Israel will not come out of this well, and already is not. That country was founded on a wave of sympathy following the events of WW2, but they have behaved to their fellow humans so badly, it is depressing. It is depressing, because they of all people should know better.

Thanks. I have lived in South Africa since 1983, so I caught the tail end of Apartheid. It took both internal and external pressure to finally get an internal coup in the ruling party that allowed FW de Klerk to move the country in a different direction. Had this not happened, the conflict inside SA would have continued, but it was essentially "terrorist" type of activity ment to scare the public into putting pressure on the government for change, but largely put pressure on the government to increase security. The difference in SA and Israel is that the white population was only 10% with also marginalised Indians at 5% and mixed race (known here as Coloured) 5%. So 80% of the population was African. 10% isn't enough to sustain security internally, plus fight the "border wars" in Angola and Mozambique. These factors contributed to the end of the Apartheid system. Today, the younger generation doesn't even think in that way. IMO the politicians keep the race issue alive, but at least, where I live, a person's race doesn't matter anymore, although it still is an "identifier" in SA. I pray for the day that Palestinians will also be free once more. As Rev. Issac said "Gaza is the world's moral compass". Free Palestine. ❤❤❤

Israel's façade of purported decency has been dismantled and lays bare for the entire world to see. The indoctrinated Israelis will continue to be a danger to humanity unless they are de-radicalised.
Brillant interview, this woman shows integrity and kindness in her words. I like how Owen often finishes the interview looking for ideas that give some kind of hope or solutions amidst the horror of the current genocide. We need to hold on to those hopefull thoughts too. The film Israelism shows that young Israelis are beginning to rise up in protest against the way their people have treated Palestinians and the way they have been lied to about Palestinians in their synagogues and schools. They are realising that Palestinians are not "human animals" and that they have the right to live in their own state, in peace. I hope this movement continues. Owen, I recently discovered you and you're an incredible person, I love everything about your coverage. Diana's amazing and everything she said is spot on. I also agree with her that this won't end well for Israel. Any violent Apartheid is simply not sustainable. However there's something that I don't think enough people talk about which is how WE can make an impact. There Billions support Palestine worldwide now. If we unite in Boycotting, Protesting, Donating (as well Sharing videos...) and we organize our efforts we can give Israel a serious hit. Especially through boycotting.

Thank you both for shedding light on the treatment of the Palestinian detainees and conditions they are being subjected to. I really want an independent entity to investigate the Israeli prisons. Sexual assault, high level of physical abuse on adults and child and starvation seems consistent in the released detainees testimonies.

This is the right time to remember the final sentence that Primo Levy wrote in his last book, “The Drowned and the Saved”: “It happened, therefore it can happen again”… and it is happening just now in Gaza, before the eyes of the world and the cumplicity of the US and Europe. The genocide Israel is performing in Gaza ashames the memory of Primo Levy and of all of those who survived and of those who died in the Shoa.
Netanyahu is essentially doing what Hulagu Khan did to Baghdad, to the Gaza Strip. I never expected to see 13th century brutality occur in the 21st century while being backed completely by the leaders of the West.

Fantastic interview, but also heartbreaking but after the profound feeling of hopelessness for the Palestinian people there is a small glimmer of hope that the world will start to care or at least pretending to care so they will fit in with the rest of the world, and then I can only pray that the wrongs will be righted
