I'll also add vintage Longines watches/movements as severely underrated. Longines produced some absolutely beautiful cases and movements in the 1950s-1960s rivaling those of Patek.

Interesting interview on the historical depth of watchmaking with a focus on Movado and it’s relationship to Zenith. That’s right about Zenith’s lesser marketing success in America in the mid to late 20th century but seems to be gaining ground these days with some great timepieces. Who knew how great Movado was in their time. Certainly Greg knows and love the enthusiasm.

Always great to hear from a top collector like Greg - I understood Zenith acquired (or merged?) with Movado so they could access the U.S. market more readily. The trademark dispute between Zenith watches and the U.S. Zenith Radio corp hampered export of watches to the U.S market.

Movado's Kingmatic is a thing of absolute beauty with its twisted lugs, rivaling (dare I say) the Calatrava cases of Patek Philippe.
