This great Scottish engineer developed many of his impressive skills in Shropshire.
The video shows the wide range of his work in the county and over its borders.
Telford first arrived 1787 to renovate Shrewsbury Castle, and remained as County Surveyor and private architect. Stone mason by trade, he moved construction technology forward forward with his use of iron.
He became a master of road and bridge building and canal engineering - the acclaimed 'Father of civil Engineering'.
To follow Telford's trail of work through Shropshire is to move through the Age of 18th and 19th Century Transport.
