I remember reading that issue. What's funny is before you see him display his absolute power over Tony, he is extremely gracious with a farmer who owns the land and gives him a bunch of gold to fill his pick up with. Then displays how patient he is with law-enforcement when they arrive. He even lifts Asgard off the ground in order to appease them.
That's a bit misguided to say. Stark's personality varies from writer to writer. If a writer wants to make a superhero look like a fool, then it doesn't really who it is. It could very well happen to Thor, Wolverine, etc.
I didn't really care for the story. read it when it first came out and was like... well Ya no shit Thor kicked his ass. but the way you just laid it out in your recap makes me want to go back and re-read it with your dialogue instead. keep em coming Rob
daniel dragotti Not to mention moments where he was really pissed off I mean who wouldn't be, seriously cloning someone is not cool it's like an invasion of privacy turned to life. That's messed up.
Chris Hemsworth is Thor, I recognize no other actor as Thor, just like Chris Evans is Captain America, Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, and Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark.
Question: Can you take the strand of his hair and just clone him with that? Answer: Yeah, man! This is Marvel comics man, I can do anything. Rob, you had me with that one.
Memestang There's absolutely no version of iron Man that could beat Thor, only maybe Thorbuster has a chance but he still didn't beat him with that, so yeah..
they couldnt put thor on one side and hulk on the other side in the civil war movie because it would just be thor vs hulk and a bunch of other people watching them fight. they would destroy everyone just fighting each other
Cameron Clark Yeah i read it, it was so cool 😎 and awesome and badass. I mean Thor popped Stark's face mask like it was opening a bottle. He barely moved to beat Iron Man. Dam Stark had a lump in his throat talking to Thor😂😂😂 I hope the armor had a filtration system because he peed everything😂😂😂
I also loved when Richard Rider told Tony to flark off because while he was screwing over the superheroes in Civil War, Richard was saving the universe from Annihilus.
Iron Man had been suuuch a douche leading up to this that basically everyone was waiting for him to get the tiniest bit of come-uppance. And our man Thor delivered.
smileyShiiZniTZ Jane Foster sucks. I don't care if you give her powers, it might actually be really cool, But Dont Take Odinson Away From Me. She can never be Thor.
I think most of the Scandinavian countries embraced Christianity at some point. Do you mean other Europeans didn't respect the Norse religion? I don't know much about the beliefs of the present day Scandinavians, but I would think they'd be the biggest supporters of Asgard. The entire events of this video and Siege would'nt be an issue.
Behemoth of couse the Scandinavians accepted Christianity however they were the first to also believe in asgard. so it came out like a bit of a bit like a spit in the face to me "Take all the hate from the Christians for believing in us 400 years ago and we'll go and make our home in a country whose ancestors we're the ones that killed your (our once loyal worshippers) ancestors". And i mean lets be honest the Scandinavians would have gone back to the Nordic religion if asgard was put in Scandinavia because they would have solid proof that their religious beliefs actually exist (no offence if your Christian). They we're the ones who worshiped the asgardians as gods for a few hundred years, not the Americans.
ozgur ozbek Asgardians are children of the fallen gods(angels) mix with humans. . Scandinavian worshiped the Asgardians for some time but they are not immortal but long lived. so they age and die few hundreds to thousands of years according to the scriptures. while some where killed of by the great flood thousands of years ago. including Olympians and Egyptian God and goddesses are children of the fallen gods(titans or giants)
I loved that whole run of Thor when he brought Asgard to Earth and was gathering the Asgardians; even female Loki was fun. But then the final events of Siege happened, and everything Thor related started to sort of stop being about myth and magic and being more about disposable characters being moved for wherever writers needed them.
Yeah, that was because the Thor movie was released and also, they change the writer from JMS to Kieron Gillen and than Matt fraction. So the story had to change in order to make it look more to their MCU counterparts. Like for example Loki was dead and brought him back because of the huge popularity Tom Hiddleston has like Loki.
I am definitely LOVING the way you do the rundowns now! It's pretty straight foward and quick but also easy to understand. Please keep doing more of these types of "rundowns". Much love bro
Depends on your definition of fight. I'm sure Tony thought he had a chance and would definitely call that a fight with Thor but from Thor's point of view... no that wasn't a fight.
I am torn. I would love to see a scene like this in the movies, but I don't feel Tony deserves to catch so much rage for Civil War - I mean, the conflict was COMPLETELY different than the comics. Too bad. It is pretty badass - but for it to work, Tony would really have to go all unsympathetic megalomaniac. When I think about it, this scene would probably fit into Age of Ultron best, if they made the movie a bit darker (we sort of had a scene like this, with Thor choking Stark, but it was very, VERY mild).
The comics can get away with things that the MCU can't, so the director has to decide what to keep, what to change, and what to get rid of. It's called a pragmatic adaptation for a reason.
If you look closely, Stark was just as arrogant and delusional in the MCU films. He says "we have to obey the law, then he wants to KILL Bucky. No trial, nothing. When Cap stops him, he could have come to his senses. "Thank you for not letting my temper cause me to commit murder." Instead he says "You don't deserve that shield." To the guy who literally fought Nazis with that shield. Stark lost all credibility as a human at that point. Then, he blames Cap for the disaster caused by Ultron. What? Ultron was your eff up, Tony. He went sideways because you are sideways. It is all there in the films, just in more subtle reveals.
One of my absolute favorite moments in comics. A man built himself a set of wings to fly and now sees himself at eye level with the gods. Until a real God reminds him that his place is still on the ground.
Hey Comics Explained, thanks so much for the great content. This is without a doubt in my top 5 favorite channels on RU-vid. And this is perhaps my favorite video. I haven't had a good laugh in a long time. Keep up the good work!!!
Bro, this is your best ever, and the way you explained how Iron Man wasn't prepared, but what they were "really" saying.... Bring your A game, son! The quote that got you another sub!
Listening to you recap some of these brings out an entirely new landscape I built in my head previously. Very good job on this one making it much more humanized, and very hilarious.
Loved this run of Thor! Gave Tony that lesson his dad never did, "you want some come get some" and gave him a 100 percent Asgardian ass whipping! Love ya Rob
It's nice to see Thor not holding back. Many, especially when the topic of his power level (and even more so when he is compared to Hulk) forget that Thor almost never unleashes all he can. Sure, he has had outrageous powers over the years, and that has been dialed down from time to time, and he has that paladin-esque fair play, honorable battle thing that has plagued him being an old school good-guy, but in the end, he is at the top of the top with very few powerhouses in the same class, and I wish we'd see it more often, so the anti-thor crowd could get a sniff at what they are spewing ;) I hear about Thor vs Ironman, and though Stark wasn't prepped with a Thor-buster suit or whatever, Thor schooled him without breaking a sweat. How it should be when the shit is really going down. Now if only the Hulk fanboys would stfu a bit, because that fight would and should be an epic affair, and IF all of Thors powers were on display, Hulk should inevitably lose that one. If not by a sheer defeat, mainly because Thor has abilities that would neutralize a powerset that is merely 'smash' with things like opening a portal to another dimension and chucking Hulk through it, or leaving him to drift in the vacuum of space. Either way, its nice to see a Thor that isn't finding some writer driven means to neuter him. Characters like Thor, Hulk, Sentry, they do spoil the plot being present in many cases, because they can handle most threats and have time left over for lunch and a nap heh
oh man, you just made my day with that comment! It was like reading a something written by me, because I have the exact same thoughts/opinions on these matters. Only, my skills in english would not suffice to equal that of yours :) Thumbs up mate!
@@rounderverse4756 what im saying is yes although thor has all these other power like molecule and matter manipulation, or dimension casting, things like that hulk has resisted shrinking, turning into stone, resisted turning into gas, and also resisted and survive reality getting repelled putting hulk in dimension isn't going to stop the hulk from punching through those dimensions to get home especially considering that he has this internal gpa that no matter where he's at he can always fine his way back to nevada
