@@AlfieVaughan ​ For sure! I'm having loads of fun! Also hey was going to ask you for a while, but your channel trailer has a snipet of you inside the Iron Man HUD. Did you ever do that as a tutorial? Or was that a part of something else? And was that a Nuke + Blender workflow?

It was a bit of both yeah. I did an object track of my face in blender and then took it into nuke, put a few curved cards Infront of it and put a few bits of graphics on. And then did a bit of different levels of defocusing etc

@@AlfieVaughan Nice. Yeah all the tutorials I've seen online for the Iron Man HUD have been C4D and After Effects...never Blender/Nuke. 😞 Also, yours looks better than all of theirs'...not just from a vfx standpoint, but design as well.

Thanks! I learned blender forms bit studying games design at college and just watching a lot of tutorials. I learned Nuke when I got a job as a compositor at the mill. So I just learned at work really. I have a nuke indie license which I use for all my freelance work and RU-vid stuff. I don't actually pay for it though. FOUNDRY (the people that make nuke) sponsor my RU-vid channel. Very cool of them! As for learning nuke, if you want to get a job as a professional compositor you'll probably have to at some point. But if it's just for fun then blender and fusion in resolve are pretty good too. Hope that helps!

@@AlfieVaughan Thanks for the reply and insight! Really appreciate that! I think I should probably keep it simple and learn Davinci and Blender first and then Nuke may come next! Wow I'm impressed that you work for The Mill. Have any advice on getting into the film or vfx industry? Because I know when I do learn this stuff it can provide with jobs

My route in was extremely lucky so I don't have much to offer in terms of advice for traditional routes. Just make loads of films and learn from the experiences and improve. That way you learn a lot very quickly and also have some work built up to show to recruiters. The hardest part is getting the first job. Once you're in it's easy!

@@AlfieVaughan Thanks for replying. I want to learn blender vfx for fun can you suggest me from where I can start. I got 3 months holidays as my 12th grade exam just finished.

There's a lot of good channels out there. Blender guru does a lot of the real beginner stuff you will probably find most useful to start with. Grant Abbott does some great beginner modelling and texturing videos. Then as you get more into it and start looking specifically at VFX, irredesium, polyfjord, CG Matter and Peter France are great channels for more advanced VFX stuff.
