Good afternoon Chris bro! Love your review! (I think I’m worthy enough to have the Mjolnir popcorn 🍿 hammer!”😂🔥🤟 Anyways!! I really liked the way it still has some aspects of a serious and comedic tone it gives out.. I love how they introduce powerful entities:The Gods ! There’s so much to grasp and Thor is growing more as a superhero ,as a protector and as a new foster Father! It really made me feel like a kid when seeing the cool fight scenes-but I wish it was a bit longer and wished we explored a bit more depth Gorr the god butcher Overall can’t wait for future projects for Thor and all the Og hero’s ! Thanks for having the time to give us your review ! And for having the time in reading our Marvel geek reviews aswell! Hope you have a great ass day ! -Ivan🦸🏽‍♂️🦸🏽‍♂️

Personally, I loved this movie. I believe it truly had a balance between the comedic angle and dramatic side as well. I found myself emotionally attached to each of the characters and their journeys and by the time the film ended I was heart broken but beyond excited for what can happen next with the character of Thor. I am a long time fan and subscriber of your channel and would love to be worthy of the popcorn bucket!

I thought the biggest problem was the run time. If you give it an extra 30 minutes, those emotional beats could really hit home and you can setup the crazy ending better. I like the idea of Thor have a daughter to live for. There’s some really fun story telling potential there.. overall it was really fun but would have become pretty top tier if they stretched those out.

No it could have still had the right run Time a lot of it comes down to the editing And a good amount of the time editing can make or break our actors performance depending on the materials angles and shots given Also Dialog was a huge if you were to have given Gore the God butcher 1 or 2 extra lines or add it or change the word even Could have changed our perspective of the whole butchering thing regardless even having seen him do it or not

I think Korg was kind of the biggest problem in the movie, when Zeus hit him with his thunderbolt they should have let him die do give more of an impact and more reason for thor to continue the quest to find Gorr.

Your review is spot-on the exact thoughts I have about the movie after watching. Personally not a fan of how Gorr is just convinced by a speech but the ending making sense of 'Love and Thunder' made me glad. At least this movie does deliver on its title unlike a not-so-mad multiverse movie with barely any multiverse in it. My biggest gripe with this movie is that we don't see the God Butcher butcher anyone let alone any gods. Because of that, there's really no reason to fear him. He doesn't even draw blood from Thor or anything. A very brutal villain, wasted. Saved only by Christian Bale's amazing face acting. It is kinda sad though that the conversation around most of the Phase 4 films is mostly about what they could've been. A lot of the movies have so far felt like wasted potential and missed opportunities.

Even after a full watch, I’m still mixed on how the comedy affects this film specifically. Felt like I could’ve loved the dramatic moments more if they spent more time on fleshing out the parallels between Jane’s cancer deadline and Gorr’s dying vengeance. If they took these moments more seriously, this could’ve easily been one of the most emotionally resonant films in the MCU.

What's weird is that in the comics Gorr comes across two gods fighting, which we later learn was the Enigma Force and a manifestation of Knull god of Symbiotes. You can't say for 100% certain that the god of Gorr's people was neglecting them due to having been in battle. But the film just goes ahead a picks what kind of god they "needed" to tell the story.
@jacrispy2186

I feel that Gorr in the comics was a lot scarier. You got up close and personal with his kills and the god-murdering backstory was done better. I also think he’d be way scarier if he was taken seriously by the heroes.

Even Gorr’s scenes in the shadow realm stayed pretty dark and creepy throughout. Even when Jane was telling Thor about the cancer the reason for joking during that scene was because nervousness. When they left zeus' palace there were two giants outside that resemble galactus and the room with that lead to the Eternal had serious Galactus vibes, especially the head of the statue Thor saved from falling on the children. I would say maybe Thor can give his powers temporarily to Asgardians but some of those kids claimed to not be Asgardians. Maybe he can't do it with Humans. Also didn't they say anyone who reaches the Eternal can be granted one wish? Why didn't Thor wish to save Jane?

I really enjoy it as a movie to play in the background, or just to have as a dumb fun kind of movie. I loved everything involving Jane and most of the stuff with Gorr (except like the corruption stuff). The emotional scenes still hit for me but I just don’t get why the movie is layered with jokes. I got invested enough with Gorr and Jane but for the love of god they kind of butchered Thor (some puns in there). Really if they just made Thor more reasonable I would like the movie SO much more but I feel like the jokes just absolutely smothered Thor into a completely different character. And I feel a bit skeptical abt Thor taking care of Gorrs daughter bc it feels a little random but whatever. I guess we’ll have to see where that goes. Personally I’d give it a solid 6 or 7 but that could definitely change.
@adi_movic
@adi_movic 2 года назад
I don't think Thor adopting Gorr's daughter was that random. This whole movie is about finding "something to feel shitty about" or in other words: something to love and live for. With Jane he lost the love of his life, but now he reached a new stage of his life where he can become a father and be there for someone else and love her. I think that's actually quite beautiful

I went into this expecting it to be light-hearted throughout the film, but then they introduced Jane's cancer and Thor's journey of loneliness made me feel more invested than I thought I would be for any marvel movie. I loved how it gained shock value as well due to them killing Jane. I feel like we expected her to live for the "New Avengers" as an OG Thor replacement, but instead, this wasn't an introduction to mighty thor, it was more of a send-off. And I feel like the humor hit nearly perfect. This is just a personal review, and maybe a slight sense of bias due to the fact I'm a HUGE fan of Taika and Chris. And the bucket looks sick btw!

I just wish that we were able to get something more like Ragnarok, a perfect mix of comedy, action, and drama. I wish they did something with The Guardians. They could have came and helped at the end or they could have replaced the kids fighting the shadow creatures. Gorr was obviously the best part of it. The movie's biggest problem was that it was too goofy, it felt like it was more of a comedy movie. Another awesome thing they did with it and Ragnarok was that it is based around the main song, Love and Thunder being "Sweet Child of Mine" and Ragnarok being "Immigrant Song". I wish they did something with Surtur, and we all need a little more of Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster (who doesn't?). Also, in the end where was Valkyrie? I wish that they actually killed Korg because if they did then they would have a reason to push on, like Agent Coulson in Avengers. Also, Zeus should be dead, I feel like he should die, and then Hercules should come after Thor. Anyways, in all it was a meh. 4/10. Also, the popcorn bucket looks really cool! Would love to have it!

@3C Films my favorite parts is when Thor, Mighty Thor, and Valkyrie fought Zeus and guards in the city of god's, them fighting Gorr the god butcher in the shadowrealm and the screaming goats

I agree with your thoughts regarding the excessive use of comedy at the expense of telling a powerful story. I also noticed the apparent regression of Thor’s character in this film. I feel that after three previous installments and four Avengers films the character would have made some progress. I also noticed the idea of Thor forsaking the life of a warrior for one of peace, as was advertised in the trailers, barely lasted for five minutes before it was back to smashing things. That was actually a progression I was looking forward to watching. I also think that approach would have better served Thor’s relationship with Jane in this film. Their scenes together were actually my favorite ones of the film, and I also agree that there were many missed opportunities to tell a deeper story of reconnection, which would have provided more closure to me personally at the end of the film. I actually went into this hoping for a deeper, more serious story. The material for that was present, but it wasn’t fully executed. Instead we received a film that was, in my view, too short to properly develop the relationships, and one that sacrificed the deeper material that was included for comedic relief.

Everything you said in your first review is exactly how I felt about the movie to a tee! I felt like there was a great movie hidden in here with Gorr's story, Jane's story, and Thor's character arc, but fleshing these out was sacrificed for the sake of cringy jokes most times. Overall an alright movie, but could've been really good.

My son and I waited to watch your review until now - as we just left the theatre today… We both enjoyed this newest installation of Thor Love and Thunder - we have it a B-. We liked Ragnarok a little bit better but this one kept our attention throughout. Wished the Guardians of the Galaxy were in it with some more scenes (Drax with some more dialogue and an expansion of that first water fighting scene) - kept waiting for them to return at the end. Can’t wait to see the next installment of Thor and the girl growing up - which can only be assumed will happen (Thor 5).

I think you are missing the fact that even though he is a God he is still just a thousands year old human to Asgard. That means he can still be human and revert to their old selves around certain situations. Great video

I think that it was creative of Taika to create a new character in thhe Thor franchise because Gorr never had a daughter and now he does which can add to Thors story and his character development, but also I think that it was kind of dumb to bring back Jane just for her to die.

If there were more screentime with Gorr and his daughter, like if he told stories of the god he worshipped to his daughter, or something, then It would have made his corruption more impactful.

Yes you hit it right on the head Chris with the theme in Phase 4 of rushing stuff to set things up for the future! Marvel wants to get the future started ASAP as long as they have the big ticket stars around. Marvel hopefully to go back teelling stories in a set up manner in Phase 5 in a "Earned" style because most of the big starts are seeming to be gone

I believe the reason why marvel is making every villain have something corrupt them is to make them more relatable, like it’s not entirely their fault . It’s marvel’s way of trying to tell us that they want their villains to mean more.

It does seem like there's a deleted scene somewhere where it explains that when Odin died, his power went to Thor which would explain all the bonus powers. Although for the one where he gave the kids power and why it wouldn't come up again, there is some precedent for that, it's DC precedent, but it's precedent. In certain depictions of Shazam (Billy Batson Captain Marvel), it's shown that him being able to share his power with others is through the power of Zeus, and since Thor had Zeus's Thunderbolt, that means he had his power, so as long as we don't see him have it, that will explain why he can't share his power with others.

I pretty much agreed with everything you said. I was disappointed that Lady Sif wasn’t a bigger part of the story, because I remember there was a synopsis released some time ago that said Valkyrie was gonna seek out a Queen, and one of my theories was that she would end up with Lady Sif. Also, I don’t know if Thor being an adoptive father makes all that much sense to me. Lastly, since when did Heimdall have a son??

As a dad this movie hit me at the end. I loved that Gorr just wanted his daughter back and literally brought the gods to their knees to achieve it. Better than a villain with no real motive. And yeah it was kinda fast but I loved it for what it was. ⚡⚡⚡

Bale's acting in the beginning made me think this movie was going to be on Winter Soldier levels of great but then I remembered hearing Taika say he wanted the movie to be a romcom and it went directly like that. Taika has shown to take directing serious if you've seen his episode of The Mandalorian, so I don't understand why he didn't do that here. Dark World is the worst MCU movie but I loved the seriousness of it (never watching it again, I won't force myself to do it). This movie could've used it cause Thor had fought countless villains and heroes in the comics on a serious level. If Taika does direct the 5th movie, I hope he tones down the comedy and adds more serious tones to the threats. Zeus killed me though, loved Russel Crow as Zeus. Jor-El and Zeus, damn that's awesome. If Henry Cavill was Hercules that would've been krazy.

I also think that the ending is very poetic and it mirrors how he is just like Odin and How the sins of the father do not bleed over to their child

I feel like in another world this could’ve been one of my favorite MCU movies. But the comedy always undercutting the story, Thor’s regression as a character, and Gorr/Bale’s criminal underutilization really killed most of my enjoyment.

I don’t mind that he can give the kids powers, he did give them to Jane, and the hammer gave them to Steve and Odin gave them to Thor, makes sense that that’s something he could eventually do, also Shazam did the same thing and nobody cared

I think phase four needs more evil competent villains. The thing I liked about Green Goblin from no way home is that the goblin persona wasn’t a victim of something, or anything cliche like that. Instead he was centered around pain, chaos, and power. The villains we have now are just anti-villains, or antagonists that have justifiable motives. Idk, I’m not sure where marvel is taking phase 4.
