As mentioned I didn’t watch Spiderman Homecoming yet because at the time of recording it wasn’t yet on a streaming service I have! But it’s currently up on Patreon! patreon.com/emmereacts
27:11 Point Break is a movie reference Tony Stark used right after fighting Thor in Avengers. He said "No hard feelings, Point Break, you got a mean swing" In the movie Point Break, some guy has long hair like Thor.
One of my favorite things in this movie are the rock paper scissors jokes. Korg's revolution failed because he didn't print enough paper pamphlets and Meek 'died' because Korg stepped on him.
Korg is voiced by the director, Taika Waititi. He also played another short role in this movie, that is the guy with the white face paint, who seemed like the leader of the group that first tried to captured Thor just as he arrived of Sakaar.
The Grandmaster is one of the ageless Elders of the Universe and has mastered most civilizations' games of skill and chance. He is often depicted as the Collectors brother, who you met in Thor end credits and GOTG
Emme, here's an interesting cast note; The actor Karl Urban who plays Skurge "The Executioner":has been in some very interesting roles over the years. He played Doctor McCoy in the Star Trek trilogy. He was the warrior Éomer in the Lord of the rings trilogy. And of course, he appears here as Skurge The Executioner. But, he has had many other prominent roles over the years. We think his eyes give him away no matter the costume.
I really wish I could have run into the movie not knowing that the Hulk was going to be in it. I was really frustrated that that was spoiled in the trailers. I am very happy for you that you got to have the genuine surprise when he showed up.
Same. And I feel the same about Winter Soldier. When it came out, EVERYONE knew it was Bucky ahead of the movie's release. It's fun to see reactors who have no idea going into it.
On the other hand, that first Thor: Ragnarök teaser was a work of art, absolute fire and marketing genius. It's still one of the best Marvel trailers ever made.
i never watch trailers, if you know you plan to watch a movie, dont watch trailers, they are basically spoilers to tease those who aren't sure i personally never click them if im interested in a movie and if i see one randomly i close my fuckin eyes and cover my ears lol, they are just not necessary whatsoever
Have you guys ever thought how all the Asgardians got to earth and some were still alive? Loki probably used the space stone he stole from the vault and safely transported everyone to earth. That why we see Valkyrie, and Heimdall son and the majority of the Asgardians. Loki doing one more good deed before he dies.
Thor said ‘no’ when Loki asked to bring them back because Odin had just told them that Hela draws her power from Asgard & when she got there her powers would be limitless.
the popular fan theory is that Loki gained the Grandmaster's 'favor' by sleeping with him. which is very in line with the Norse mythology about him lol.
In Norse mythology, the Valkyries were angels that carried those who died courageously in battle to Odin's mead hall Valhalla, where they would fight a great battle every day, then all the dead would rise and they would all drink and feast all night.
Hi Emme, I'm a bit behind today on reactions.🙂In the play, that was Matt Damon as Loki, Chris Helmsworth's brother as Thor, and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) as Odin. Odin went to the Asgardian afterlife Valhalla where his wife Frigga resides. Normally you have to die in battle to get there, but I suppose Odin is an exception. That is Australian actress Cate Blanchett as Hela. Korg is voiced by Taika Waititi. Great reactions to this light hearted Thor film, Emme!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
27:16 Point Break is a movie that stars Patrick Swayze as a surfer dude with long blonde hair. Thor resembles him, which is why Tony calls him "Point Break."
This movie was so awesome! Easily the best Thor movie out there! Before this one, he was not really seen as a "main character" per se, like Captain America and Iron Man were, Thor was more or less seen as the classic god character who was in the Avengers movies. I mean, he was loved and respected before (but as much as them), and this film elevated that to another level. So much character development, that too with comedy and heart, and the best part about it is the comedy didn't feel forced at all, it was all so organic. Like the other comment suggested, I wish they didn't reveal Hulk in the trailers. I mean, I understand that from a marketing POV. But the theater audiences would've been blown away just like you were with Hulk's out of nowhere appearance and presence... Also I really appreciate you making these videos, they truly are something special and make my day! ❤ And I hope your day goes well too! ✌ And now you're literally there at Infinity War on Patreon (after Black Panther) 🤩💥 oh I can't wait for you to watch it!! I recommend that you post it in two parts on RU-vid, to get all the good stuff from the movie covered nicely ✨ Unrelated sidenote: This has probably never happened in Star Wars as far as I know, but the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian has a post credits scene. I missed it the first time I watched it lmao, so just putting it out there so you don't miss out on it... Peace ✌
In Nordic/Scandinavian mythology Valhalla is the equivalent to Heaven, and is where Odin went, so he did not really die but went to Valhalla, while Hela Odinsdottir is Hel the Goddess of Death and ruler of Hel in Nordic mythology, which is also an afterlife location, like the equivalent to Hell. Ragnarök is a foretold catastrophic series of natural disasters, including the end of the world, though after these events, the world will rise again, cleansed and fertile.
The woman who died to save Valkyrie was her girlfriend. Also worth nothing that Thor, Loki, and Hela are all canonically bi. It's actually really lucky this is the first MCU movie you've uploaded during Pride. Also, Bruce just fully died on that bridge. Being able to come back to life is one of his powers.
Actually, if you've ever seen The Lord of the Rings, you know the actress playing Hela, Cate Blanchett. She's Galadriel, the elven queen of Lothlorien. She's blond there.
In Norse Mythology Hel(a) was a child of Loki, as were Jormangandr(the Midgard Serpent, who kills Thor and is killed by Thor), the Fenris Wolf, and Odin's eight legged horse, Sleipnir.
It might be hard to recognize her as Hela because her last role in Hot Fuzz as Angel's girlfriend had her all covered up in her forensic gear. Also she did have a bit part in LotR as Galadriel. Also for another example of the kind of strange circle Thor was imprisoned in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d6AtQiaMeCk.html
This turned out to be my favorite Marvel movie. It reminds me a lot of an old favorite, "The Fifith Elelment" (not a Marvel movie), just in the way it mixed scifi, comedy, and action all into a very colorful and entertaining movie. It was really fun seeing you enjoy it :)
You not recognizing actors/actresses is one thing.. but you not recognizing Jeff Goldbloom as the Grandmaster is just, well, chaos.. and well, there it is.. because life will find a way..
Ragnarock is basically the end of the world when Asgard and the 9 realms would fall. In general. It's a Norse prophecy and legend Odin traded his eye for knowledge and all seeing power. :)
Words can not express how much i love this film. Korg is played by Taika Waititi, the director of the movie. You should really check out some of his other movies, like What We Do In the Shadows (please react to this one), Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Jojo Rabbit.
People always forget 'Boy' and 'Eagle vs Shark'... his early works. Which as a NZer always makes me sad since their excellent examples of his style (happy/sad comedy) and NZ humor and personality. (Almost no one reacts to Eagle vs Shark, although probably best to watch that one after all his others since its his first movie and hard to get as a foreigner unless you've seen at least Boy and WwditS) Yes, their VERY NZ in demeanor movies (WwditS is also very NZ but its a little more accessible if you know your movies) and as such might not sit as comedic wise with Americans where some of the humor and references/life portrayed would be completely missed. But 'Boy' is a definite must see for Waititis work as its still his best movie in my opinion, sitting perfectly with equal measures of humor and pathos and is a near perfect example of small town life in NZ during the 80s (at least within the poorer parts of the commuinity).
@@NZBigfoot I would probably have included both of them, if i had seen them. Can't watch every movie ever made. Also, speaking about NZ filmmakers, hardly anyone reacts to Peter Jackson's fantastic early work, although there might be legit reasons for that. 😄
"Look at that wolf"... doesnt realize its Fenrir, one of Lokis children, and destine to kill Odin, and eat the moon (in one of the Ragnarok cycles, given he doesnt do it in the movie lol).
I'm not going to lie. This movie was one that I had to stop watching after a bit the first time I saw it. Still, I kind of regrouped and had another go, and now it is honestly one of my favorite MCU movies. Korg is voiced by the director, Taika Waititi, and yeah, he's a lot of fun as a character. Thor is great, and all, but the first two movies were... very serious, bordering on Shakespearean, but I really do feel like this 'nudge' to the character of Thor was really needed.
Statistics such as the money the movie made and most of the MCU ranking lists made on the internet have shown that most people loved Thor Ragnarok, there was, however, a small percentage, maybe 5-20% of viewers that didn't like the goofiness/silliness that Taika Waititi brought to the movie. I, myself, really liked the movie, but a friend of mine really didn't like all the jokiness in it.
so Korg is made of rocks, his buddy has blades for hands & his revolution was defeated by not enough leaflets (paper). it's a Rock Paper Scissors game come to life.
Hi. That was our first thought too when we saw you that you were a warrior on a pegasus. Just need a little dramatic hair and makeup and a sizzling hot warrior suit and you'd be perfect Emme! 😊
You have the best smile 😁 gosh ha. I know you will be so successful at this. I hope you watch all the movies and shows even though after the first 2 phases things fell off a bit from the comics.
In Norse myth, Ragnarok is the destruction of the realms, and the death of the gods (in German it's called Götterdammerung, the Twilight of the Gods), the Last Battle. Ragnarok will be heralded first by the Fimbulwinter, 3 terrible and biting cold winters rolled into one. After this, the true battle begins as the enemies of the Aesir begin to move: Loki breaks free from his imprisonment, Fenrir the great wolf will escape his chains and swallow the sun and the moon, plunging the world into darkness, and Jormungandr, the World Serpent, will release his own tail from his mouth and stir the seas into a raging storm. Hela, the daughter of Loki and ruler of Hel, will lead the legions of the dishonored dead from her realm upon Naglfar, the Ship of Nails (constructed of the unclipped finger/toenails of the dead) and attack Asgard. Heimdallr will blow the Gjallarhorn, signaling the Einherjar, Odin's chosen warriors to assemble for battle. Odin himself will lead them, wielding Gungnir, the Spear of Fire. He will be confronted by Fenrir, who after a short fight will swallow the Allfather whole. Fenrir will not long be victorious however as Vidarr, one of Odin's sons, will avenge him by using the Thickmost Shoe that he wears (made from all the discarded bits of leather from cobblers and bootmakers) to step on Fenrir's lower jaw, and heave his upper jaw back, splitting his head in two. Thor the Thunderer will slay Jotunn by the hundreds with the mighty Mjolnir, but will eventually face off against Jormungandr, whose venomous jaws will end up killing the Asgardian, but not before his skull is crushed by Thor's hammer. Freyr, god of the Alfar (Elves) is fated to battle the King of the fire giants, Surtr. He will lose this battle however, as he traded away the one weapon that could defeat the fiery menace: a magic sword that can fight on its own, given so that he could marry the giantess Gerdr. Facing Surtr with but an antler, he will be slain, and then laughing, Surtr will cast flames across all the worlds, burning everything to ash, including himself. All is not lost, however, as the fire that destroys also renews, and humans will appear again on Midgard, and the gods will be reborn, and a new age of peace and prosperity will come.
Also, in myth Loki is Thor's uncle, not his brother, and is the father of the Fenris wolf, Jormungandr, and Hel. Fenrir was bound by the gods via trickery, which is how the god Tyr lost his hand (Fenrir would only allow them to place this allegedly unbreakable fetter on him if Tyr put his hand in his mouth while they did it). Jormungandr was tricked into biting his own tail (when snakes are kept in a confined space, they can mistake their own tail for another snake's, and he had grown so large the boundaries of the world were confining to him), and Hel was born half alive and half dead (literally one half of her body was living, the other half not, split right down the middle) and Odin decreed that she would rule over the realm of the dead, also named Hel, where the dishonored would go (as he would send the Valkyrie to ferry the honored warriors of the world to his hall in Valhalla upon their deaths in battle). Odin's eight-legged steed Sleipnir is also one of Loki's children, sired by him in an odd circumstance. When Asgard was first being built, a Jotun offered to build the fortifications for them in exchange for the hand of Freya, the sun, and the moon. The gods agreed, but only if he could do it in one season, which they fully expected he could not and thus would not have to pay him. The builder requested then that he be allowed to use his stallion, Svadilfair, to aid him in the building, and Loki argued in favor of this, because after all, how much will one horse change things? Well it changed a lot, as Svadilfari was able to haul truly massive stones and do twice the work the builder could, and it looked like the walls would be finished before the time limit, and the gods, angry, told Loki to do something about it. Loki shape-changed into a great mare, and lured the stallion away from work, mating with him a lot and distracting him from following his master's commands. Thus the walls were not finished in the agreed upon timeframe and Freya did not have to marry a giant. Loki later gave birth to Sleipnir, and was gifted to Odin as one of the swiftest horses in the realms.
You like Loki (as most other women do), because he's the charismatic bad boy. It's biological. It's the reason the phrase, "nice guys finish last" is a thing.
To correct some of the comments: POINT BREAK is an old (1991) movie about (believe it or not) surfing bank robbers. The leader is played by Patrick Swayze who had long blonde hair. Tony Stark called Thor "Point Break" because he resembled the character from the movie.
Yes! YES! Nobody ever explains that, I don't even do it myself cause I figure it would just be lost on the younglings who didn't watch Point Break and will never watch Point Break, but oh my god, I'm so happy I found this comment.
@@phj223 (bowing) Thank you, I figured somebody needed to put it out there! We're probably the only two people who know (and all the other old people!)
honestly thank you for this I LOVE the mcu and a lot reactions i’ve seen laugh at that joke but never explain it so i thought it was a joke i just would never get lol.
The movie Point Break is actually being picked up by some reaction channels lately, and these trends seem to spread, so maybe soon all the youngsters will appreciate this glorious joke 😅
Some fun cameos! Did you recognize...Hela was played by Cate Blanchett (Galadriel)...The Grandmaster was Jeff Goldblum...the Asgardian actors playing Odin, Thor and Loki were Sam Neil, Luke Hemsworth and Matt Damon.
37:18 I don't think I've seen you laugh this hard at anything you watched on camera, haha. Favorite Emme moment, right there. Love your reactions, keep up the good work! Love you
@@jmominis Yes there are so many lines and other things that connect and span the movies. Some I see the most are the words On your left that span even to End Game and Loki looking at the Tesseract in this movie.
The Valkyrie that they showed in the flashback dying in front of our main Valkyrie, was (as told behind the scenes) her wife. So when she said she lost everything.
