God this was such a Good Run for Thor! Thor is Angry and Badass, and he had an Odin to match! The art of this run was my favorite, as was the dialogue! "You Great and Gleaming Gimp!" And "What you don't know could fill the vast expanses of space across which you two maraud like Criminals" I love it! These were always some of my favorite Odin lines! This run got me into comics when I left it for over half a decade. Thor died and I left Thor was brought back and I returned with him!
Yup...and not just his character. Iceman Carol Danvers X-23 She hulk Captain America Iron man Spider Man Etc... Have all been destroyed by Woke Marvel.
We Thor fans can never have our cake and eat too. Writing was atrocious during this run, but his power levels were pretty on point. Dancing with SS and giving Galactus a concussion are feats that harken back to Classic Thor levels of power. sigh...
@Black Bolt It's not like The Surfer was going all out either. SS was taking it easy on Thor even before he found out about his injury and only striking Thor when Thor struck him.
TheGrimReaper I’m a 90s baby so I grew up with this online boom especially RU-vid, but I will never cease to understand why people approach a perfectly peaceful and orderly conversation to hurl some type of insult. It would absolutely make sense for Odin to at least best Surfer if he’s able to go toe to toe with galactus. It wouldn’t make sense if a herald can defeat a skyfather yet, said sky father can knock Galactus unconscious by merely colliding with him.

Oh the fight over the seed..I loved this fight. I have heared ppl say that surfer wasn't going all out BUT Thor was hurt with a serious wound so both of them weren't going at 100 percent but Thor had a great showing to be in his condition..great story and writing( J Aaron need to take notes) we see a wounded thor throwing hands and hammer with SS but J Aaron gives us a thor who struggles with freaking namor..The hell man

It didn't use to work that way..writers of the past wrote characters and remember what tier of strength they were on and pitted them vs likewise characters..marvel today doesn't care and pulls this stuff out of there ass and we are not suppose to notice or say anything..sidenote Blood andThunder series gave us a Thor who took on and wrecked SS and Adam Warlock together at the same time..ck it out..so we have in canon a Thor who can do that so you have to scale back your statement on SS defeating Thor if they both go all out.

1989 when i 1st got into comics(GenX) my comic homie had a special red large comic box that stood out & i asked what it was & he said "you aint ready for that". 6 months later i was worthy. It was the whole Simonson Thor run & others. Again this was 1990. Those old Thors stuck with me & right away i was drawn away from simple brute WOlverine(which i still collected). I like the way Thor balances Avenger & Odinson.. He is an Avenger but doesn't need to be to protect the earth. Much like GreenLantern protects earth without A Justice League..
That wound Thor has is a wound of time and space stated in issue 8 of Thor(2011) and he had it from here fighting SS and big G, to fear itself event taking on the amped Hulk as Nul and Thing as Angrir, to his death at defeating Cul the serpent at the end of fear itself. So a wounded Thor carrying around a time and space wound still held his own against Silver Surfer and a amped Hulk and Thing.
Hulk wasnt amped in fear itself. He lost the ability to grow stronger when angry, similar to how how juggernaut wasnt really unstoppable in the fear itself run.
@@Meteo_sauce the hammers of Cul amp it's wielders to Thor level so yes hulk and thing were amped seeing how thing as Angrir wiped the floor with red hulk.

@@colecampbell1906 yet their last fight with the same writer Thor explodes Hulk's arm when Hulk punched Mjolnir and they hit each other multiple times before that part of the fight. Hulk, Thing, and juggernaut were amped by Cul's hammers in fear itself even when Hulk and Nul separated Hulk was too scared to face Nul alone and got help. Lol
I remember the time where loki amped SS with his magic and he said he's not holding back anymore but thor entered his warrior madness state and one shot SS
@@eivor2881 that was mind control. and i'm pretty sure that was their way of showing him breaking surfer free of it. Usually characters pass out when coming out of some magical control stuff like that. A good bonk on the head is like a reset button lol. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure there was a time Thor had warriors madness and was trying to kill surfer and BRB and surfer wasn't even trying against him and even sent BRB away on his board while he was hurt so Surfer was without his board as well, still held him off fine though without even using deadly force.

Great Thor SS rumble. This was Thor at his best, meaning he carries himself like the true thunderer not this new lacking character style and lower power level we find him at now.
Thor Feats: Thor no sells a blast from Silver Surfer Thor dents the Surfer's head Thor blitzes through Galactus and shatters his helmet; makes him scream in pain Thor outraces Silver Surfer This was a pretty great comic. King Thor #3 came out and it had this girl power seen. Seemed so forced and cringy. Uh can't wait for Donny Cates!

Rember infinity watch where silver surfer stopped holding back and still got wacked by a bloddlusted thor.

The way Odin ragdolled Surfer LOL - Iv'e always considered Thor and SS on the same level. The winner just comes down to plot device. None of them can kill the other.
Thank you. Surfer's my favorite comic book character, I've studied him extensively. I hate the statements made from people uneducated about the character that Thor could easily defeat him
@@darthvader1569 Thor is slightly above surfer imho, in classic marvel surfer even admitted that Thor's might is greater than the power cosmic he wields. The problem with Thor is he gets repeatedly nerfed over the years to fit in with the avengers, making him a very weird character. On high points he's fighting multiversal beings on low points he struggles against street levellers.
Look man, I'm not exactly a speed reader but I am not slow either. A good number of these frames I am halfway through when it changes. If you are going to do this, for goodness sake give us enough time to read it! Other than that, an enjoyable way to catch up on comics...just wish I didn't have to hit the pause button every other frame and back up to see what I missed
As someone who's just a passive fan of Marvel, I always thought Silver Surfer was much more powerful, able to transform matter and therefore Thor, or to at least affect the hammer. Surfer fought like most any regular superhero. And, did Thor damage or kill Galactus with one blow of his hammer. If so, that's bad writing.
Thor and SS to me are on the same level or around the same level, Thor has more power within his hammer(Stated by Norrin himself) but Surfer has better utility of his power cosmic, Usually they don't go all out on one another because Norrin is a pacifist but if they did that would be one hell of a fight.
You know I'm a big thor fan and I hate it how marvel treats him like a punching bag but silver surfer is one of few characters I will actually be alright with thor losing to because if you think about it if silver surfer really used his full power he probably could defeat thor unlike Carol danvers which was bullshit

Thor seems so out of character here. Nice to see him not totally jobbing once in a while, but he doesn't seem anything like himself. I think I'm forever stuck with the Simonson run and can never really get over that Thor is changing.

Back when Odin was not a bitch. Another comic you should look into is silver surfer black. written by Donny cates. That dude really knows how to write cosmic characters. Silver surfer in that comic is a beast. Silver surfer is powerful enough to go head to head with knull in that comic.
@@brothersofwrath4785 I don't think he was. It wasn't mentioned in the comic that he was weakened. He even got a power upgrade fighting knull and knull still overpowered him easily. Silver surfer held his own pretty well.
Honestly... planetary gods shouldnt be able to hold up to galactus level crap. I mean lightning is cute and all but the power cosmic is on another level. Literally since it pre dates the universe. Marvel never uses galactus and surfer to potential.

What many people don't know is that many of the hax Silver Surfer has with the power cosmic, Thor also has with his own magic or mjolnir's. Yes, Thor has Magic he's an Asgardian God after all. In terms of physicals, they're about equal imo. But in terms of combat experience and fighting ability, Thor easily has the advantage. SS doesn't really have any training and he's more of a pacifist, his fighting style is mainly blasting you while flying extremely fast on his surfboard. Thor should win about 60-70 percent of the time. I don't see it as a clear 50/50 but still really close.

It is smt tied with the world's resurrection when it ends or smt. Galactus wanted to cheat and live forever according to odin by stalling the rebirth of the universe.

Cant stand when the writers make Thor and Odin swear , it is very ungodly. This is why i much prefer the original volume1 of Thor , not only did he act and fight like a god but he spoke like one too.
