Same, its crazy how much Heroine grows on you after hearing it multiple times. Such an incredible album. I sometimes listen to it more than TDP

@@sebz7248 Completely agree. At first I found Heroin good but didn't grab me, however I advised my GF to listen to it and she absolutely loved it, so I got to listen to it several times and damn, what an album.

The next song they release will be a healthy mix of heroine and TDP. Was absolutely great live

Not heavy as in chunky riffs, screams etc. just heavy lyrics wise I’m pretty sure.

@@beesechurger5177 i wouldn’t be suprised if thats the case…but either way i love their heroine era snd i hope they expand on it….i do think dark pool is objectively their better album, but i think heroine just had a bit more personality and they pulled off that sound kind of amazingly

@@nehemiasgonzalez6989yeh they’ve stated it’s gonna be their heaviest “in a different way” so I’m keen to see what they mean!

@@dhabitahpunk yeah I saw that live. They also said they actually have a couple heavy tracks too.

key difference is that this new thornhill is dope asf and actually good, architects new stuff is simply not.

​@@funghoulms7389dropped out of the EU tour last year due to a near band's total burnout from touring US for ~5 months straight, had their warehouse broken into with ~100k worth of gear, merch and tour memorabilia stolen + their rhythm guitarist stepped away from performing after the said US tour. Overall, they've gone through lots of shit recently and it's fantastic to see them recover and kick ass again.

@@ogge9304 the dark pool really wasn’t that unique. it’s literally just northlane worship. granted, it’s very good northlane worship, but it’s hardly genre defining. at least this is showing influence from other genres, the current state of the scene is a circlejerk of the same riffs we’ve been playing since 2014 and we need fresh sounds & new influences.

The band is held back by their past IMHO. They get bashed on for new sound in the same world where Loathe get praise for similiar influences in their sound (listen to Dimorphous Display for example). I bet if Heroine was their breakthrough the people would be far more accepting of the band.

@@entyzstGotta disagree purely on the basis that Loathe only get praise for it because they simply do it better. They also weren't so concreted into their sound from the beginning. It's not like The Dark Pool was the first venture into metal for Thornhill, Reptile was arguably their breakthrough single and that was definitely a much more sophisticated metal sound. The switch up for Thornhill was super drastic, super unforeseen, and as a result not well received. Loathe were always heavy but even their first releases showed they ventured from the sound. Thornhill's original sound on the Butterfly EP was extremely genre-defining for the up-and-coming Australian metal scene which is where a lot of their hate is garnered from, and in retrospect, it makes complete sense. It'd be like Metallica coming out with a pop punk album without telling anyone and without any mid-way single to transition their sound, Thornhill's change was just completely out of field for most people. Sorry for the paragraph. I'm really passionate about the Aus metal scene, been following Thornhill for years, they're a great band who deserve praise for their creativity and discourse for the way they've handled the transition in their sound. Pretty unanimously across metal, most fans don't like jolting switch ups from fan-favourite bands.

@@unbounder Agree and that was my point that Heroine gets hated only because fans had expectations for TDP sequel. Style shift is a much needed space for them to try a new palette of vibes. In very early interviews around 13 ep era I remember them mentioning Muse as an influence so it was kinda foreshadowed but not reflected in music that well. But even then Temperer was a big step aside from 13 ep. Band is constantly evolving and it's great.
