Having an adjustable wrench that punches way able its pay grade is truly a treat. Like the 6" Snap On wide mouth adjustable wrench having a bigger appetite than the huge 32mm open end wrench. Of course overall strength and lever advantage are reduced, but that's a good thing since its a moving mechanism.
But Snap On should really make a 4" wide mouth adjustable wrench. It would be wildly handy and I'm sure they would sell a ton of them.

I actually like the big one even though it doesn't have a wide mouth. The versatility and leverage behind the precision jaws make it a winner.

The small made in Spain spanner with the red handle I'm pretty sure is made by Bahco because they make pretty much the exact same one branded Bahco except it's not chrome it's like black oxyde-ish and the handle is black also . Bahco makes absolutely brilliant spanners by the way , they're the only ones I use now .

You're always speaking about your car tool kits, I think we should have a video on your vehicles, they are most definitely tools.
@lastbesttool

I'll think about it. My vehicles are not totally tricked out like many other RU-vid channels. Instead, mine are all dirty, dented and heavily used with years of adventuring. I focus on the kits that allow me to switch out the vehicle's purpose on the fly.

You can't beat a Bacho, and these are obviously made by them, I would guess the premium price is really down to you getting a premium warranty on them really. I work in restoring very old thing, vehicals mostly, the oldest vehicle being over 300 years old. It might not be that surprising but getting bolts, nut and screws with uniform heads wasn't very common so we often get fixings that would require multiple standard spanners. So high quality adjustables is the way to go. Two standard 10" is ideal for 99% once you get in anything bigger the lander handle is generally an advantage and the smaller head on smaller fixings is much easier to us. Once we are up to an 18" tool you just add the biggest pipe you can find and hope for the best, not managed to brake one yet 😬🤞

You mention a smaller size in your video. I actually purchased the Lobtex UM24X. It is smaller than a standard 6" and opens to just over 25MM. Japanese quality at a fair price. I think you'd be providing your followers a service by checking them out and reviewing as I have not seen much on RU-vid about them.

I have two Bahco wrenches because I couldn’t bring myself to pay current Snap On prices. The Bahco’s are very nice but the finish is lacking. Snap edges from forming and small defects. I’m sure the SO premium eliminates those but couldn’t bring myself to pay over $60 for a 6” adjustable.
@TylerSnyder305

The last of the Western forge 4" adjustable wrenches are / were ( so many brandings, still readily available) very oversized for a 4" adjustable wrench and they could easily have been wide mouthed. They do have a larger capacity than your typical 4" adjustable but not big enough for the head size really.
@TylerSnyder305
@TylerSnyder305 2 года назад
I'm sure they're an excellent tool, but I can't get past how funky they look. I like my adjustable wrenches to look how adjustable wrenches have looked for the past 100 years. If someone makes a normal traditional looking adjustable with a wide jaw capacity I will buy it.

@@mumeez1 But theres still a general modern aesthetic with the square hole and such. I know it's just a tool so who cares, but in that case why did they move away from the classic design in the first place, and why do they make so many tools modern and ugly looking ? If that's really how it is they why can't tools continue to look how they always have? It's because it does matter, but unless someone is in favor of " progress " then screw them and they're just being picky / unreasonable or unwilling to accept change. It's funny that it seems you're supposed to like the modern aesthetic of things and if they don't they're just a grumpy old fart or a hipster or something.

Hi Doc, I'm thinking about buying a Bahco wide mouth adjustable wrench just like the Snap-On. Which size is the most versatile for DIY applications? Is there an upside to getting the black phosphate finish instead of chrome? Thanks in advance for your input. BTW, I'm really enjoying your videos and find them informative, entertaining, and relaxing.

Crescent probably copied the original Bacho design of the adjustable wrench (that was a considerable improvement of older British (?) designs). With the screw turning the other way. Therefore a generic naming as crescent wrench sounds wrong. The best quality Bacho adjustable wrenches were made 30-40 years ago when these were made in Sweden. First the manufacturing was moved from Sweden and then SnapOn bought Bacho, and now it seems like the quality dropped one or two notches.
