My wife and I always drive up to Troy, IL to visit GP Knives. It's about and hour drive. Being able to handle several versions of a knife to get the one you want is awesome. When I bought my s110v para they pulled about 10 out and all the guys started flipping. I walked out with a free swinging blurple knife 100% satisfied with my purchase. SUPPORT GP KNIVES! THEY ARE GREAT!
Thank you for your time and videos sir. If you are interested in Micro-Melt PD#1, you still can buy it with the Mule Team Project directly from Spyderco. It is still available for only 69$ plus shipping.
Yes we need a geek out, I wasn't even a where of this sprint run one steel that interests me is spyderco' H1 it seems to have some unique qualities namely that the edge retention improves the more you use and sharpen the knife. Thanks again Sean
Nice. Had to let my pre order for the pm2 go. But I did get the Carbon fiber Manix 2 in cruwear. Great stuff . Isn't that European steel sleipner another version of this?
So you have the gray and black cruwear??? Nice. Thank you as well for the advice on the maxamet sharpening my friend. You’re an awesome person. I’d love to meet you one day
Cheers for that. Just got a Mikarta / CPM CruWear PM2 and was surprised how good value it is! In the EU markets Spyderco tends to be F-ing expensive, like +30% on the US market. Slight promo at €207.00 ($227.00 USD), it's a complete bargain in the Spidy line up. If you don't mind the vintage-ish looks and feel. Was doing for a Para 3 in S45vn, but this just felt perfect. It's my first "modern exotic" steel as such and I got to say, it's a darn side easier to sharpen than whatever CRK used on their 1gen of Umnumzaan. Blade profile helps of course. Damn, I'm going to have one of these fancy sharpening tools instead of my old blue japanese stone?
Big Brown Guy I have not used it enough to get a good opinion yet I carried it for a couple weeks but moved on I will carry it every once in awhile but if I've been carrying a Spyderco it's been hard to keep that K2 out of my pocket
Hey Shawn did you ever check the hrc on the cruwear? I’ve heard Spyderco runs every thing at around 59 hrc. Just wondering your opinion on this. Thanks my friend. I saw another channel, where S35vn, and m390 from Spyderco we’re both at 59 hrc 🤨
Great score! Just got my sprint M390 PM2. Super stoked! Got to hate the Red LocTite route they are going now. When needed dosen't matter if its blue or red. It just that the red gives so much negative impressions . If they really didnt want their knives to be maintained , weld the screws or do a pinned construction. Red LocTite is just silly.
Ohh dilemma, i have the opportunity to buy a Cruewear... Guess i will regret if i not jump on it. want the blurple as well.... Red LocTite leaves me a bit cold but what shall i do? any advise Sir?
Just got the smooth G10 CruWear and it is the shapest, smoothest knife I've ever gotten from Spyderco and that's saying something. Have a virgin CruWear millie in my safe as my XHP and M390 millie get all the love.
I love me some CruWear, hopefully we will see it more in production knives outside of Benchmade and Spyderco. I got a knife that got 1 screw that is stuck and on the brink of stripping. But not sure if it's locktite or if it's binding up with the barrel spacer. So I got some Screw Grab on the way. The company sent me some extra screws so when they arrive I hope I get it out by heating it quickly with a soldering iron with a small tip. Really hope I don't have to drill it out, I can't stand small T6 screws. If the knife wasn't discontinued I wouldn't worry that much about it.
@@FearNoSteel Haven't got to try 15V yet but will try to get me that Manix 2 Sprint, whenever that drops. Also trying to get my hands on a decent MagnaCut knife with good hardness.
you know I emailed spyderco saying I had to take my pm2 apart for some reason and stripped a screw. They did send me new screws. along came the generic letter highlighting that taking it apart voids warranty
+Sergiy Baturov Nice, thanks for the first hand information brother. There are some horror stories for sure. The letter with the highlighting is very passive aggressive though hahaha
I’m not BBB but I have at least 5 knives in both and I’m a freehand sharpening dork of many years. They’re both fantastic…both in my top 5 and both easy to work with. K390 will hold a longer edge and while not technically as “tough” as cruwear, it’s got great edge stability and you really won’t be testing its toughness threshold with reasonable regular use anyway so it’s kind of a moot point. I’ve easily whittled with K390 and it doesn’t skip a beat. Cruwear is the greatest EDC steel of all time, imo…at least for someone like me. It doesn’t hold an edge as long but the edge that comes up is so screaming sharp, it feels like it doesn’t matter. It’s stainless enough for most users and unless you’ve ravaged your edge, it’ll strop back in about two minutes. You can’t go wrong with either one, honestly…unless you have really corrosive sweat or you spend all day surrounded by saltwater.
+ 1 on GP KNIFES,i really like ordering from them, they always get it right and on time, was just about to per order this PM2 from another sight!but figured it would be a stock item soon any way, pick it up then, any thoughts on maxamet steel!! thank you, like you video.
Spyderco must have changed their policy which is good considering they raised their prices. I lost a screw on my pm2 and all I had to do is send them some pictures of the knife. I’ve got a new set of hardware headed my way.
Such low prices?🤔 Red loctite is never ok in my book. And voiding the warranty if you field strip your knife to clean it is not ok either. Although I heard they are better with that lately. Sweet knife though.
Spyderco has stopped using red Loctite and now disassembling your knife does not void the warranty. Well, disassembling your knife never did void the warranty. Details here: www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=74060
