Best review I've seen on this book! Loved it! I've been on the fence about reading it because so many people have said they didn't really enjoy it. I totally got into the Hunger Games: books and movies, and most likely will not be picking this up {at least any time soon} so I really appreciated the thoroughness of your review. Your necklace is awesome btw! I'm going to share this with my niece now (who did read the book when it first came out).
I can definitely see why it’s not for everyone, it was very different from reading the Hunger Games where you can root for Katniss the whole time. This was much more depressing because you know Snow will be evil in the end and you can’t root for him or hope anything turns out good in the story, because it won’t. Still, it had some good moments! So glad you enjoyed the video!! Will you be seeing the movie?
This book was so depressing but I think I liked it the most of all the Hunger Games books, even though the last third of the book wasn't maybe as good as the rest. I read it a few months ago and I still get a bit overwhelmed thinking about it. I really feel like I need to reread it eventually since I devoured most of the book in like two days. I'm so curious about the film since so much of the book is happening inside his head. Also, not me being so naïve that I really thought for a few days after finishing the book that Lucy survived. It just hit me one day how unrealistic that is. And I don't know if it was confirmed by the author but I read somewhere that the little girl in Lucy's band could be Katniss's grandmother.
It really is such a heavy storyline. Hardly a moment of joy in it, so it’s tough but feels like an important story. Omg is it confirmed that Lucy Gray didn’t survive? I definitely think she could have! I thought she just went back to the Covey eventually. Ahhh I wanna know more.
@@SaoirsesShelf I'm probably also going to think that she survived for the sake of my mind but I don't know if she would be able to return. I can't see her surviving in the wild alone though, especially if Coriolanus managed to hit her. But her dying somewhere alone is just too grim. But I read some fanfics where she found the Thirteenth District so that's also an interesting theory.
I couldn’t finish the book! I was so excited by the concept as I love Snow and the capitol! But I found it read rather fan-ficy - I really didn’t like that Tigris was related! I think it takes away from Tigris in Mockingjay - simply showing us a Capitol citizen who was supporting the rebels! I also found it rather “odd” that Snow and his class basically came up with the entire hunger games outline etc in one class and then for the next 65 years nothing is really changed or added to the games. But I loved scenes with clever dialogue and loved everyone got names! 🥰 but maybe I should give the book another go especially before the movie comes out!
