Myanmar's junta will soon start pressing thousands of young people into military service. All men aged 18 to 35 and women aged 18 to 27 must serve for up to two years -- or face jail and a fine. Many are trying to flee the country or find other ways to avoid conscription. Independent Myanmar analyst David Mathieson tells The World’s Yvonne Yong he thinks the “desperate act” is an attempt to “indoctrinate a new generation”.
