Yea they were a subgenre of rap called Horrorcore, although they mixed the dirty south crunk sound with it. Horrorcore lyrics are more sadistic darker and waay more violent then your average gangsta rap album and yea they can cover topics anywhere from rape, satanism, domestic violence, and murder.

Triple 6 was their original name and yes it was on the horrorcore/devil shit but it was a gimmick. They were talented and brilliant. Brilliant enough to know it would get them noticed and clever enough to know that when they got the nationwide distribution deal that name had to change to gain national appeal...thereafter becoming Three Six Mafia.
