This song may work in many situations, parental, domestic abuse,people trying to tell you how to live ... but word for word its how i feel towards the negitave voice in my head. When im depressed it feels like a different person in my head but when im singing this song aimed at the other side of myself it feels the most accurate and real

For me this song is about my abusive parents. I was so close to ending up just like them but I chose to live a better life. I chose not to let those experiences hold me back from being a good woman. I'm nothing like them. I'm proud of that ❤

This helped me quit self harm. I'm still about a month and a half clean

Even stupid demons attacked me in dreams, walk through me daily, etc. Too bad life is not fair, but I hope you all are blessed with a more satisfactory life, than I ever will be.

I used to think this song was lame as a kid, I’ve grown up and realized this song resonates with me.

My favourite song by Three Days Grace just for how relateable it comes across as my whole life I've been worried about the opinions of others and as a result I haven't been living the life I wanted but instead the life other's Insist I lead basically be just like them. This song showed me that I'm not alone and that there are many others who think just like me and the lyrics show me that Inspite of what everyone thinks of me and what they want me to do I can say no to them and live life on my own terms and have the courage to stay true to my principles and core values despite pressure from the external world to conform to the values of the majority of people but at the expense of losing my unique qualities and all the things that made up my authentic self. Thank you Three Days Grace for not only making great music with passion put into it but also music that speaks the truth not only for my life but also for the life of many others. This should become an anthem for all those who are bullied for whatever reason and no matter who it is bullying them, jerks, "friends", family, because they get good grades, they are simply smaller, their gender, transgender, sexuality, who cares. Be yourself, prove them wrong, be better than them.

I broke my mom's heart. She wanted to know what song reminded me of her. So I sent this to her. But she did more than break my heart. She broke my will an spirit to the point I didn't even feel like I was human. At 18 I had enough an left and I have done everything in my power to not be a bitter person that does nothing but drive everyone away. The "you" in this song, the one who thought I could be just like it, in my take of this song, is just the void, the abandonment, the turned back, the despise, the act of letting one behind, the negligence. Sometimes the person who hurts you the most is the one who you never see, never talk to, it's someone who totally despised you and turned their back on you. They're not trying to mold you into aything, they're just ppl who don't care and if asked why they would answer "it's been like that, it will continue to be like that, nobody cares", so that's what they mean by "expect to be just like you". The one who turn his/her back on you expects you to lso be someone who never gives a shit about anyone. Someone who doesn't care about other people's feelings. Nothing hurts more than ignoring who loves you. Nothing says a person is cruel more than showing they don't care. A father that leaves his family, a romantic love that was never mutual, a selfish "friend". What your enemies wish for you really don't matter, but what those you care about mean or do to you, that's fucked up and when they actually don't care, that is where the most pain is.

This song is a reflection of my life. From many years of verbal and physical abuse living under my mother's roof using fear to control me. I could have ended up like her, but despite everything, i'm the complete opposite of her. And I'll never change who I am.

I rediscovered this song as it was the first song to play on the radio when the cop asked me what I would like to listen to after being falsely accused of something I didn't do by the former boss whom I once thought was the person I wanted to be until I learned I was very naive. It spoke to me and helped me in that moment so much and now I listen to it multiple times a day as I work to clear my name.

Reminds me of how my mom wanted to mold me into this perfect straight A, super smart, no issues, no mental illness, nothing absolutely wrong with me daughter. But I kept fighting her constantly telling her I’ll never be her perfect daughter, stop expecting me to be perfect or how you wanted me to be, this is me. She didn’t want to come to terms it, even in my early teen years, nope just criticizing me how I dress, the “You’re wearing THAT?” But once I grew confidence in speaking up more, it felt like this at 2:02 finally breaking that barrier for her expectations and showing her what I really wanna be, and how I wanna dress. She finally had to accept it that I wasn’t gonna be her over the top girly daughter she wanted, she already has my older sister for that, but I was her weird, quiet, goth, horror, made inappropriate horror jokes during horror movie daughter. And our relationship has been so strong since then.

Everyone already knew that Three Days Grace was my favorite rock and roll band.

This song is a picture perfect representation of how my sister treated/treats me. I was never allowed to step outside her perceived idea of what I should be yet said I should be creative and criticized me when I tried. Even after all these years she can't put her ego aside to even attempt to see my points of view. It hurts.
