The 1975 live version is fire, showcases each singer very well and you get to see the fun they were having on stage, not to mention the long pants and platform heels ha!
You REALLY need to watch the live version from 1975. To have a band with not one, not two but 3 great lead singers is amazing. They had so much soul. So many great hits.
Always loved 3 dog night. Took my little brother to see them in concert in hartford CT in 1970❤❤❤❤. Next should be live version of just an old fashion love song ❤❤
Three Dog Night covers many songs and most of the time they do them better. Evidence is they become top 10 hits. Many songs to do. Definitely worth spending more time with them. Enjoy!
Yes please 🙏 do live versions. 7 members with 3 lead singers . Each took lead depending on the song and whose voice was best suited. Corey Wells passed away, Chuck Negron officially left the group in 1985. Danny Hutton is the only original singer left in the group. Saw him last year. Lead singer here is Corey, ( wearing fringe vest purple). Then Chuck Negron comes in (black vest, dark blue shirt). Danny Hutton (beige pants, white shirt, redish vest).
Check out Family of Man from Harmony. Great album. Also has Never Been to Spain and Paul Williams’ Just an Old Fashioned Love Song. Let Me Serenade You and Shambala from Cyan are 🔥 too.
Appreciate your review from this 70 year old guy, I loved it in high school but this has pretty much run its course by now. I still give it a very occasional listen though as part of a TDN PLAYLIST when in the mood.
Cory wells lead vocal.chuck nergron and danny hutton Floyd sneed drums Joe schmemie bass. Mike allsup guitar.jimmy greespoon keyboard.cory and Floyd are gone They still play
My favorite 3DN song, I think you’re missing something, Jerry. There is a video for this (NOT the live version) that you might like - I think it would grow on you.
Although I do like the song, I think you might want to try the original version by Laura Nyro. Her singing brings a lot more jazz, blues and nuance to it, with an amazing roller-coaster effect!
Please do more. Their catalog..."Eli's coming better hide your heart"....look up the lyrics. I hate that you didng like it. "Out in the Country. Laura Nyro is the song writer. You need to do more investigation to keep me coming back.
look i personally feel if a song is good there's no investigation needed thats not a genuine statement. when you first heard the song or any song on the radio its either you liked or not or some cases it grows on you.. but thanks for your comment tho
I remember the song but I don't remember it being so loose and unfocused. I somehow think there might be a much tighter radio version which would have hit you better. This strikes me as the album version with the weird intro and outro
I think the point they were trying to make is that Eli was coming, rather than going, say, or just staying at home, which Eli is certainly willing and able to do, if the stories about Eli are true. His ability to do nothing at all was legendary. So if he was doing anything other than sitting on his ass, well that was a big deal indeed. Sound the trumpets! But this may sound cold, but it ain't 3 dog night cold. Maybe one dog night.
