We were in Chiang Mai in December for 1 week and both my wife and I kept looking for you, hoping we would run into you. This morning my wife was watching this video and listening to the bird we heard while there and remembering the good times we had. We are hopeful to go back again in December and maybe you will be OK for a cup of coffee together.

Hi Bill, that story about Lek's hair braiding on Khaosan road is exactly what happed to my daughter. We were on Khaosan about six years ago and my then 25 year old daughter got her hair braided. ...... and within hours she was pulling it all apart again form the pain 😀

I have seen that happen countless times in Thailand were he goes inside a hotel room with 2 or 3 ladyboys. At first sight I was like WTF but after that it got pretty normal seeing that all the time.

The big vacant area next to the Chinese Temple is where the Downtown Inn stood. This is the place you referred to as the “Death Hotel”. That hotel was part of the Empress Group. This Group now consists of the 2 Empress Hotels exit to each other and the Park Hotel. President Jimmy Carter stayed at the Park when he came to CM to build homes for the Habitat For the Humanities. I had heard upon leaving the hotel he did not leave a tip for the staff.

I was in Chiengrai from 2001 to 2010 and you have always had wierdo,s and creeps coming to Thailand,the older guys use to be pretty nice and mellow,Young guys in Pattaya were trouble sometimes with getting drunk but now you got too many differnt etnic groups,some are trouble makers .

Reminds me of a guy in pattaya about 10 years ago when an English guy brought 3 lady boys back to his hotel room and fuck knows what happened but they threw him from the balcony and killed him. Look up some time and have a look at that. 1 is enough especially when they are strangers

Love the old hotel. The architecture and facade on outside of the old Thai buildings is unique and interesting to my western eyes. I also notice a lot of older thai buildings lack paint maintenance. Maybe paint is expensive? Maybe all the pollution just wears and dirties it faster?

You mentioned preserving some of the architecture of old Chiang Mai. If in the U.S., the building or ears would be designated as “historical “ and would be protected from being torn down. I guess that there’s nothing like that in Thailand?

Some people probably just don't realize that dealing with ladyboys - you are actually dealing with the men, not women ! They may look like a very beautiful and sweet "ladies" but that's just an illusion 😅 They were born male and their physics are those of a "male". I once did a photos with them in their beautiful outfits and the one of them next to me hugged me around my waist - and I could tell that his hand was a "male" hand, not a woman's hand at all, it was strong !😊

Unfortunately, the reputation of Thailand attracts these folks. The comments I get from people when I say I'm moving to Thailand as an old single guy probe it out. The number of times I've said "No, I'm not moving for women of ladyboys, I'm moving because I love the culture, the food, the people, the scenery, the motorcycling, etc." are not even countable!

No need to be ashamed of being a man bud; there's nothing wrong with this; if there were more loving instead of fighting the world would be a better place. You pay for their services, they give you enjoyment in return, win, win; just wear protection, be wary of scams, and treat them with respect, and for the wast majority of times it will be a good time. Life is too short trying to pretend you're a holy man; you're a human, human have needs.

I am glad to see that your health is improving & you're still producing videos of interesting places/events around Chiang Mai. I used to see you filming around town occasionally, but it's been quite a while. You recommended Dr. Chanakarn to me maybe 3 years ago for knee surgery & he performed it for me. It went reasonably well. You also recommended WRLife to me about a year ago & I enrolled in their plan(s). I have not had a claim with them yet, and I was wondering if they were covering all your medical treatments here in Thailand? Sometimes it takes them a while to answer my emails. I was also wondering if you have a will in Thailand and whether that would be legally recognized be leave any assets that you might have in the U.S. to Lek when the time comes. Or do you have to have a separate U.S. and Thai will to assign assets to beneficiaries in one country or the other? The legalities of the potential scenarios have left me with a lot of questions about the proper course of action to take to leave U.S. based assets to a Thai national.

Glad it worked out for you . Yes Wr Life has beena life saver for me .. They have paid without any problems or hassles . For the Will part its my understanding that a will in Thailand would npt be good in the states and vice versa again thats just what I have heard I dont know for sure . I have nothing state side so I never really dug into that . We both have wills here though .

It's more likely a demographic change. More Russians, Chinese, and Indians come to Thailand these days, and unfortunately they're not as friendly as westerners tend to be to put it lightly. The world is constantly changing, now it's these types of people, next decade there will probably be another change; that's how the world works.
