The Resident Evil franchise has delivered a number of bangers in the form of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake, and even in that mighty company, Resident Evil Village holds a special place. Launching in 2021, the survival horror title was met with widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and has since gone on to sell impressive numbers, and looking back, it’s hard not to say that all of that success has been well deserved.
Best described as a theme park of horrors, not only did Resident Evil Village boast an impressive variety in both styles of horror and types of gameplay experiences, but it also captured the genre’s many different flavors quite effectively- and it did all of that without feeling like it was lacking cohesion. Here, with Resident Evil Village now three years old, we’re going to talk about all of that and more.

The fact that first it wasnt gonna be developed for ps4 and xbox one and months before release they dropped " oh yeah its on all consoles" and it still looked amazing, considering i didnt have the series x at the time.. made it a hell of a game for me on that alone 😅

I am glad you liked 7 more. I liked 8 more because i could finished it. Me and my best friend. He is a RE Pro but he too could not finished 7 and Me as well. I am not so good in these games. Of the 9 main games from RE Zero to Village i have only finished RE 3 Remake, 4, and 4 Remake and Village! Zero i have never played as well as RE 2002 Remake, RE 5 & RE 6 i never touched. RE 2 Remake i played but still never finished.

@@iHaveTheDocuments I love Horror. Hell i was like 5 years old when i got to see the first 3 Nightmare on Elm Street Movies, Alien and Aliens. But with games i don't always remember where what is the way RE games are compair to other games. The RE system is just a bit confusing to me. Today i tried something i have never played Metal Gear Solid 1998. I have always wanted these games. So i am glad 1-3 id on the Ps4 now.

8 was the overall better game due to HUGE improvements in enemy variety, as well as better exploration and puzzles. 7 had a significant decline in quality after leaving the Baker mansion, and become a repetitive molded simulator. Village may not have been as scary, but was a more complete and varied experience than 7.

I liked it a ton… but I do hope the next game is in third person (playing rE4 and RE2 remakes made me appreciate third person just a bit more (but I will play it in first person and enjoy regardless )

Videos like these are awesome. Games go on sale, are put on game passes(plus) etc so to highlight them after they've been around and made their review rounds is great for gamers that take advantage of those options. Not to mention the fact that alot of reviews totally dismissed this game because everyone jumped on the "theme park" bandwagon. It's good to hear from someone who enjoyed it for what it was.

Resident evil 8 need to be commended for doing a u turn by releasing it on last gen consoles after capcom said it was initially for current gen only and all versions look good and play well. This made everyone happy. If only more games can follow this example too that would be real nice.

I haven't played any Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 0 on the Gamecube (I know, I know!! LOL). However, I've always enjoyed the games through other perspectives and gameplay. I just wished they utilized Chris Redfield more in RE8 like how they did with the Claire and Leon scenarios in RE2. I hope in other installments, our fan favorites will come back! I would like to see an RE game that lets us know what happened to the characters over time dealing with these outbreaks and shady corporations!

Yes you should since you already like this type of games and their style. The resident evil games are always frequently on sales so collecting them shouldn't be a hard task.

If you have nothing against the first person camera, then definitely yes you should. But you also should play RE7 first (which is awesome) as the story in Village is straight continuation to RE7.

I preferred RE7 as it felt more like RE. Village didn’t have the item box and you could carry an unlimited amount of resources to craft.

7 has a severe lack of enemy and environment variety. Village is not as scary, but is a more fully realized and varied overall experience. That, and Ethan is a more dynamic and relatable character in Village as well.

It might not be a very popular opinion, but I think Village is a more varied and fully realized experience than 7, despite not being quite as scary. Much better enemy and environment variety, and the exploration and puzzles were superior in Village as well. 7 was great until leaving the Baker mansion, then it became a repetitive Molded simulator.

The game was good, played very nice and looked pretty, special mention to the enemies design. Lady Dimitrescu's level and House Beneviento were the best parts for me. But I wish RE8 was a brand new IP with a classic dark gothic theme insted of the bioweapons, special agents and the usual RE stuff that in the end made the story and main characters very lame and forgettable for me.

Didn’t have the horror constantly amping up till the peak as much as seven , but they felt they couldn’t because of all the re7 is too scary bs…. Nonetheless still terrifying in its own right.

I think it’s better than 7, despite not being quite as scary. Village is a more varied and fully realized game overall. More weapons, better enemy variety, more varied environments, and better exploration and puzzles. Ethan is also a more dynamic and relatable character in Village.

7 was amazing until leaving the Baker mansion. It became extremely repetitive and had a severe lack of enemy and environment variety in the last 1/3 or so of the game. It essentially became a molded simulator at that point. Village isn’t as scary, but it’s a more fleshed out and varied experience than 7, in my view.

I dunno. Never felt that way about it. Was excited for mercinaries. Rushed through to the end and was disappointed. Tried a second playthrough, but got bored less than an hour in.

RE8 is not as good RE4. There are way too many times Ethan gets thrown aside by a boss when the boss could've just been killed him because the bosses all wanted to play with Ethan or whatever. I wanted to like Ethan because of his noble cause and bravery, but Ethan is just way too stupid, consistently clumbsy, and ridiculously lucky for me to respect. It almost feels like Ethen never really beat anyone (almost) and just kept getting lucky up until his luck finally ran out at the end. Ethan is the Gary Stu of Resident Evil (the opposite of a Mary Sue).

7 and 8 were my favourite games. 7 was pure horror. 8 had a mix of everything, the baby was the scariest scene in any resident evil game. The story was great! My only complaint is i wish they made dlc for each of the Lords

I enjoyed the game but the art style wasn't to my taste. I really enjoyed the Castle Dimitrescu part and liked the "non-resident evil-y" parts of the game. Chris Redfield's segment was also a welcome surprise. It immediately felt like I switched to a COD/Metro game.

RE 8 deviate the most out of the entire resident evil series to the point it doesn't look and feel like resident evil anymore but it is still a good and fun game.

RE village still very much was a RE game it was survival horror and had some puzzles and treasures and item's to scavenge the only big difference was it was in first person like RE biohazard.

Don't bother to get worked up and defend re8. After re2 umbrella collapsed and it's viruses was taken by its staffs to be sold in the black market everywhere for bio terrorism purposes and survivors of the first two resident evil have to go everywhere throughout the globe to fight bio terrorism warfare as the viral outbreak grow in scope ever since. Re6 still made sense story wise. Re8 with all its monsters living as lords in a village in their own distinctive theme park terrain for over a century without catching attention from the outside world at all is too much to stomach.

Those monsters like in all RE game's are supposed to be mutated by viruses that physically and biologically change the host organisms and that's what happened in RE village don't see how that was lore breaking and deviated from the RE formula? Again RE6 didn't feel at all like a RE game it felt like an action game version of a RE game that is by far the largest deviation from any other mainline RE game.

As a lifelong fan of the series. 8 was SUCH a letdown for me. Idk if ill ever go back and play it again. It wasnt bad like 6 was, but it was so god damned 'mid' that it just didnt resonate with me the way even 7 did. 7 was special as a 'return to form'. Village is easily 6 out of 10 for me. I just do not see the appeal of village beyond a single playthrough. Ive played so many lf the rest of the series over and over and 8 just isnt gonna get that from me.

Village has WAY better enemy variety, environment variety, and more bosses. It also had even better exploration and puzzles than 7, in my opinion. The merchant also added a bit more depth. 7 became extremely repetitive after leaving the Baker Mansion and became a Molded simulator. It may be scarier than Village, but Village is a better and more fully realized video game, in my opinion. I also feel like Ethan was a more interesting and relatable character in Village.

Village gets to much love. The game is trash and far from what RE used to be. They are going back to making the same mistake they did with re6. Over the top action and survival horror is nowhere to be found.
