I'm not sure what my favorite Thrice song is, but this is definitely my favorite version of any song that isn't the original. I've been listening to this since the day it was posted and it will never get old.
Damn these guys sound incredible. There's no doubt that these guys set a high standard for honesty, integrity, and meaning through music. As our friend Randy said, one of the best bands of our time. And Vheissu was unreal. A bold move most bands wouldn't dare make, and those that may would't pull it off like Thrice. They carved out a new niche with every album. To me, they can do no wrong.
this band has been an important part of my life since high school. I am 31 now and have seen them live every chance I get and will see them again in July. It is a true shame that this isnt what gets played on the radio. examples of amazing music and thought process for music like this are rare. i appreciate every sound these guys ever made. Seeing their music grow up as i have has been a true gift
@WoohaDude - I'm the guy the recorded and mixed this one, as well as the vast majority of the "At: Guitar Center" series here on You Tube. Those are actually KSM 137's on the guitars and I use the built-in pres on my Digi003. I had a good amount of signal going into my PT LE rig without hitting the red, then had a lot of fun once i went into mix mode. Glad you like it!
I love how Thrice can go from a heavy electric to a simple acoustic song to nearly every one of their songs. They play just as well live as they do in the studio....simply put Thrice is amazing.
Our lives built on tin cans and string But the cornerstone laid is a wondrous and beautiful thing Sure in the ground While the North wind is taking its toll You have helped me to find my way back and to anchor my soul Safe in the sound Oh you know me Oh and I know you And I know that We can see this through I'm brack, baring my bones Said if we heard the howling I'd run out to face it alone To meet it half way But I've still got badges to earn So keep sifting my soul Cause I think that I'm starting to learn To love you that way Oh you know me Oh and I know you And I know that We can see this through It's true that you could snap my neck I trust you'll save my life instead Cause our love is a loyalty sworn If we hold to our hope Then I know we can weather the storm Whatever they say Come what may Oh you know me Oh and I know you And I know that We can see this through
This will always be my favorite song of theirs. Reminds me of my life with addiction and specifically my wife that stuck around through all the bullshit. Absolutely beautiful.
This song always makes me think of my girlfriend and how much i love her. Whenever we go through rough times, I listen to this song and it comforts me into knowing that everything will be ok. Thanks for giving me the strength to put my shit aside and really see the specialness thats in front of me.
This band gave me some of my favorite music ever that I will always have and can return to it and listen again and again. The least I can do for them in return for defining music for me for about 7 years of my life is buy an $11 collectors vinyl with two really awesome versions of two really awesome songs.
People who listen to Thrice don't just like them, we fucking LOVE them. I cannot get enough of their music See you in London guys, your show will be incredible
@kpardi2 It would be sad, but I would understand. They've given us a good 10 years or so. Plus, I don't think they would (or could) stay away from music. They would probably release solo albums, or just whatever else they work on, and probably get together after officially ending and just playing some shows for the fans.
and I think thats what theyve given themselves =) I saw them on the farewell tour last night, and they all looked so happy. Especially Teppei and Dustin.
@kpardi2 That's the rumor on the street. Plus there's that article where they're talking about spending more time w/ their fams when Tepp moved. Make sure you catch them in concert
It's almost like a tribute to all their fans. Whether you're newer or have been there since the beginning, as long as you listen to their music, that's all they ask.
That's badass. I looked up the lyrics right now so that I can actually see all of the songs, and I found Atlantic, Phoenix Ignition, the Whaler in addition to what I mentioned before. The name of the some fits it well ;)
@foodstamp73 Yeah, I didn't see at it first then I listened to it more. This is made up of 6 different Thrice songs: Atlantic - "tin cans and string" Flags of Dawn (or probably, more The Whaler) - "north wind is taking its toll...anchor my soul" In Years to Come - "baring my bones...meet it halfway" Silhouette - "keep sifting my soul" Hold Fast Hope - "if we hold to our hope" Trust - "snap my neck...trust you'll save my life instead" The Weight - "our love is a loyalty sworn...come what may"
Anyone else catch that it's an anthology of a bunch of previous Thrice songs (lyrics from songs prior). Might be really obvious but I thought it was an amazing idea.
I think each of the band members losing a parent in such a short span of time made them more greatly realize the value of family (though I'm sure they didn't take it for granted to begin with). I'm sure it was a big part of their decision.
can someone help me out with tabs for teppei's part, particular the picking order when dustin starts singing...im kinda new to guitar and for some reason i just cant figure it out
@gemevieya they aren't sell outs, they write their own music. They don't have ghost writers so their managers know they'll make money. The most beautiful music comes from the soul, not from greed; that is what is wrong with the music industry today.
