I hope you come to know God's love. There's a reason Thrice is some of the only Christian contemporary music I listen to. You can tell the music he writes really means something.
Teppei really puts his heart behind that "Come all you weary" line.. Haven't I heard that story somewhere before? :) Such an insightful and introspective band, not to mention incredibly talented. God bless them. And may they continue to rock!
This song just tugs at the strings of your hearts. This song is just so deep it is nearly describable. Thrice is an excellent band. Beards are awesome.
Thrice is one of the most talented, legitimate, creative, and versatile bands out there. I can find as much enjoyment out of listening to this as something like Paper Tigers. They're one of the few bands that continues to progress and get better. Thank God for these amazing gentlemen
Man...As much as I enjoy reading how much this band influences both the religious and atheist alike, how is it that the top comment isn't about how Teppei NAILED the back-up vocals on this? Last I checked it was all about the music, after all. Just saying...
When I listen to the song, I can see myself lying down on soft green grass, staring at the blue cloudy sky with the warm sun shining on me, as I lay among tombstones circling a tree. Yet, it is relaxing to lie among the dead.
This is easily one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard - and also one of the best acoustic performances I've been listening to....glad that I'm able to type in here for I'm absolutely speechless....
Absolutely phenomenal. The sincere musical inspiration, the heart and soul poured into their music. Thrice is a band of true musicians. I'm glad that they're around while I'm alive.
Absolutely love this song and the album is amazing been a fan of thrice since the beginning and they have yet to disappoint me yet amazing song and teppei's voice has really improved the chorus songs awesome with both of them.
I remember the first time I heard "Stare at the Sun" and thought how good these guys were. I always liked Thrice somewhat, but this new stuff they're putting out, this kind of song writing is what seperates these guys from the rest of mainstream radio. They have proven to me they are capable of more than just your typical radio friendly material. And this is why Thrice isn't just one of those bands you hear on the radio. Good stuff.
totally agree. I like how they express themselves without shoving it onto others. yet they are able to express their love for God in such a beautiful way
The thing most people tend to forget is that Thrice is NOT religion. They may be religious individuals in they're own way but they never will bash another persons beliefs. I am a proud Pagan and when I met Dustin he should be the out-most RESPECT even if I had a pentacle around my neck... He even said " Can't wait to see you next year!!! "
I would go as far to say God speaks through all things. As Christians we are not limited by anything, all though God knows whats the appropriate food for us to eat always. :)
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
Like Moths To Flame Image Of The Invisible Dust Of Nations Music Box Words In The Water All The World Is Mad Hold Fast Hope Anthology Disarm In Exile The Weight Of Glory These are just a few Thrice songs that relate to scripture. Check out the lyrics.. Also Dustin has done some solo stuff recently like Grace Alone and This Is War...not religious but it is based on scripture..there is a big difference between religion and true followers of Christ.
@TurtleSensei Flags of Dawn was on the the Red Sky EP along with Weight of Glory along with acoustic live versions of Of Dust and Nation, Red Sky, For Miles, and Under a Killing Moon.
I actually didn't know Thrice was a Christian band until someone told me like, six months ago. THEN I noticed all the religious symbolism. I like that their music isn't all cheesy and poorly put together, and that they don't scream "JESUS!!!" every four seconds like so many other bands do.
Haha, I was the exact same, I'm not sure how I found out but I was like 'no waaay...oh I see whatcha mean' True that, that understand the concept of subtlety, which most Christian bands just don't get
Its sad when drama fills the air for a band about religious beliefs. Even though a lot of they're music is Christian INFLUENCED doesn't mean they are closed minded Christians set to judge others. This is why I LOVE THIS BAND, they go for everyone Christians/Pagans and everyone who has a ear for GREAT music that has progressed throughout the years they have been together.
this is one of the few christian bands i can listen to. i am very unreligous, pretty much atheist but thrice is far from preachy and sings their beliefs with amazing musical talent
Goddammit enough with the whole religious or "I'm not religious" bullshit! This is music! You get to experience an amazing piece of art. What do you have to say to that?!
@ssgohan556 Thrice tends to drive home the message contained within the verses, the parts that over-all promote the hope and dignity of mankind, and not the ones that spread Jesus all over the place.
