I love the whole vibe going on right now, and it feels like "home" to me. Calm, warm, earthy and low key. I have had guests comment that they love the decor because it's "calming" and I think the natural materials, as you say, play a big part in that.
@@TashaatHome You’re very welcome! Love your videos! Keep em’ coming! Oh, also loved your circus Bday party theme! Such a cute table and cake! So cute!
so that glad you went back to the wood finish! the white paint made it look too “new.” I loved the vintage character that the wood tone brought, especially since you stripped it back :)
Really love the thrift with me and your narration! The table also looks so much better with the warm wood, grain, and shade variations- very organic modern.
Oh man, the coffee table looks awesome. Soooo much work, but good call, I love it! And I can’t believe your score on that tree, amazing find!! Beautiful work, as always ❤
I don’t think I could ever have redone the coffee table! It turned out amazing!!!!! I would not have had the courage to do that! Well done, Tasha!!! Cindi (from Wv)
Thanks so much! Yes I had a moment of courage...then partway through wondered what the heck I had done 🤣 But I'm so happy with it in the end. I'm actually redoing the coffee table in our family room the same way right now and hoping it'll turn out well too 🤞🏼
Just a tip for working with Citristrip. Put it on very thickly and then wrap the furniture piece with a few layers of Saran Wrap. Press the Saran Wrap down against the surface of the piece. Let it sit for 2 to 3 hours. When you remove the Saran Wrap a lot of the paint will come off along with the Saran Wrap. Then just scape as usual. It is a lot less work.
Fantastic finds at the thrift store! Love the Japanese Maple! Great job on the coffee table! I have not seen that technique applied before. Interesting video! 😊
I discovered your channel. You have a great eye for vintage potential. I’ve been a thriftier for years, but you’ve given me some exciting ideas. One suggestion, not to be critical but watch how many times you say actually. The table looks wonderful!
That tree looks like weed. 😂 So considering that, 30 bucks was a steal! Lol! Your videos are so calming. I wish I could come thrifting with you. My thrift stores are always picked over or poorly displayed, sad and dirty.
Table looking great.... found your site by chance ....I watch alot of thrifting videos and am so pleased with yours ...and glad i found it...I like your voice...your choices....the dyis which are so complimentary....and the fact that you repurpose second hand to create beautiful and economical design🎉
When you use Citri-strip try and cover the surface with plastic.. drop cloth, garbage, bag, saran wrap, etc. .. it keeps the stripper from drying out and does a much better job and lifting whatever you’re trying to get off.
I've seen people use that paint stripper before but what they did is after they applied the paint stripper, the wrapped their item with cling wrap and left it on over night (or some time you can look it up) and then the paint comes off easy. I love your table done with the oven cleaner. I have a couple of pieces like that. I like it :)) And aren't the thrift stores getting to be so expensive. I've noticed that in mine. It's almost worth going to Ross or something. I've been shocked looking at the prices in thrift stores. But, I still find some things sometimes :))
I'm definitely going to do that next time! And yeeees, prices are going up, even at thrift stores. Occasionally I will pass on something even though I like it because it's overpriced even at the thrift store😞
I have been thinking of stripping the layers of paint off my dining room table but wasn’t sure where to start. Thanks for showing the steps you took and products used. I will try it as soon as the weather is warm enough to take my table outside!
Love the coffee table! I wish my space would work with a coffee table, but I have 3 boys who tend to russle around... so maybe when they're older haha!
I always cringe when I see solid wood painted. I store furniture, so I know the work that goes into doing that and wish those who paint furniture understood. I was thrilled to see that you changed your mind and were happy you did. It looks amazing. I'm new to your channel. I subscribed and am looking forward to seeing more!
I've used the Citristrip before to strip many layers of paint off of a bathroom vanity, and although it does work well, it leaves quite the gooey mess.
I love watching your channel and love your format of bringing home the pieces and redoing them same video. The coffee table turned out very nice! How many hour's did that take you? Just curious. You really found a Gem that haul as that tree is beautiful! It looks so real! I bet the original price was WAY over what you paid for it!
OMG our thrift stores don’t even have the ficus trees, how do you find this stuff?! I like that tree more than any I’ve seen. I found one that isn’t even as pretty as yours for $720!
I liked your coffee table in white, but stripping it back, it looks amazing in your living room! The tree is a great find, along with the tray, and vase. I really enjoy your thrifting, then redo videos!
Wow what a difference on that table. I rinsed off a small table like that before & the type of wood caused it to swell. Glad that didn’t happen to you. 😊
I guess some swelling is part of this particular method (and it happens to the whole table not just one part) but if you're not looking for it to happen, that would be bad! I'm glad it turned out okay 👍🏼
The table looks awesome! White was pretty too, but this is just chef’s kiss 💋 Citristrip is a very effective stripper! You really do need to slather it on, and then, and then, Saran Wrap it! If it’s allowed to dry, it makes for hard work. Keep repeating the process through the varnish, and the stain. Of course if you were looking to raise the wood, I have no experience with that, but I do appreciate the effectiveness of Citristrip. You’re really good at curating your home. Did you pick up a pair of those 👠 for the party? Circus 🎪 theme was adorable - happy 4th! 🥳💕
Thanks very much! I had heard about the saran wrap; if I do another project like this soon I'll definitely try that. The shoes weren't my size but I just love vintage items and thought it was a nice collection 🥰 The party went swell, thanks. It was my first time making a circus tent cake for sure!
I loved the oval coffee until it was painted white. It was ordinarily boring. You have redeemed yourself with the do-over. The table now is stunning and has a personality. Good job. Loved the wood branch candle holder. Really cool.
Just a suggestion. Maybe try putting the brownish stems (that seem to be a bit larger and flow out more) in the tall vase and the asparagus stems in the shorter one.
I love, love, love the table redo❣ A lot of work but worth it in the end. I also love that little mouse print! Maybe you can find a place for it in your daughter’s room. 🙂 So cute! The tree was awesome as well!
Yes I have, though it's been a while. The closest one to me is a ways away. However there is an outlet store run by Durham Rescue Mission in my area that I pop in now and then.
I've had success with Windex. I do it as fast as possible by spraying a rag with Windex and putting one hand flat behind each leaf and giving it a quick swipe on the front with the other.
