You REALLY did a wonderful job with this project! Your enthusiastic presentation was infectious and kept my attention spot on where you directed it at each stage. And your explanations a d reasoning made some things lot clearer. I really enjoyed it and after this I might try reupholstering a small upholstered swivel rocker in my bedroom. I love that chair but I've loved it so much I can't bear to look at the faded, grubby fabric anymore. I will definitely keep an eye out for more of your videos! Thanks!!😊❤❤❤❤❤
All I can say is WOW, Cathryn! I haven't mustard up enough to tackle an entire chair, you are giving inspiration! Thanks so much for sharing and BE BLESSED 💋
I have upholstered for 20 years and built pieces for the rich and fomous.I must say for a DIY video and someone that doesn't do this professionally.Job well done MA'AM.
This is the best reupholstery video I have seen! Complete, not too fast, nothing skipped or missing, very easy to understand. Makes it actually seem possible for anyone to do including me! Thank you for doing this, chairs look beautiful!! 😃❤️👍
Hi Cathryn, While watching your patient and encouraging presentation, I was not surprised to read that this channel is a Christian outreach ministry! Thanks for suggesting viewers purchase the chair, tools and materials a little at a time, as a great way to pay for the complete project Also, beginners can build confidence by watching your video several times to become familiar and comfortable with all the steps! I also needed to first recover my dining room seat covers by myself to have the nerve to try a chair! THANK YOU
Kona of course is a beautiful stain and the name is Native American. The color of your fabric is so earthy combined with Kona. I love the alligator glue and glue gun.
The legs and other woodwork look exactly like my old Sherrill chairs that I bought over forty years ago. The manufactured great furniture. I admire your energy and enthusiasm on your make over. You are one smart gal. Congradulations on a lovely job.
This is an excellent instructional video! I'm getting ready to re-upholster two Louis XV chairs that I've had for years. Thanks to this video, I think I can finally do them! Nice work! Thank you!!!!
I’ve watched several upholstery video, from amateurs to professionals and this video is by far the best that I’ve seen. Thanks for explaining every detail from start to finish and telling where you purchased all of the supplies, etc...Thank you❤️I now feel confident that I can take on my dinning room chairs and bench
TFS! I AM that one person! I have my maternsl grandparents and paternal great grandmother's chairs! My maternal grandmother reupholstered her chairs ("like it was nothing "!) I HAVE to HONOR her and maintain these precious heirlooms! You have made my day!!
Thanks for this video, I just bought two slipper chairs from Goodwill for $19 for both. I was afraid to work on them but now you got me really excited to get started. Thank you. Oh boy here I go.
This video is great. Thank you for all the detail you provided. My wife inherited a rocking chair from her grandmother that unfortunately had been in a garage for the last 10 years or so, but hardware wise seems to still be in great shape. This will give us a great guide to tackle the reupholstery project to restore it. Will save money and make a great remembering piece for our living room. Hopefully our project looks half as good as yours!
Wow! I have a 60+ year-old sofa my parents owned before I was born; your clear, concise, well-thought out, and detailed presentation gives me hope that I could reupholster that sofa myself. It is a sturdy piece of furniture that would cost a small fortune to replace new, and I doubt it would be the same quality. Thank you for your excellent video!
This is the BEST tutorial video on recovering I found! Plus your voice is pleasant to listen to so I can watch it over and over without getting bugged ;) You answer all the questions I had and I think I'm ready to put the chair back together now! Thank you so much.
I was having a bad day until I found your video. The sound of your voice calmed the raging storm that was going on inside me. The way you spoke was if you were a good friend giving information. You are so patient and sweet. I can feel how balanced you are within yourself and that is what I’m struggling with. I know this was about reupholstered furniture but you have given me a lot more than that for me. Thanks and God Bless You!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm sure this video was of value to many, but I am probably the ONE you made it for. About 6 or 7 years ago, I bought 2 chairs similar to the ones in the video, but I know nothing about upholstery. Now I feel a little more confident to get started on mine.
I am so impressed. You did a great job teaching as well as finishing your chairs. They look great. You had many helpful tips that made me decide to try to reupholster a chair of mine. Thank you.
Oh My Goodness! What you did was amazing! And your tip to use pliers to help pull the fabric is priceless! What a great idea - and I sure would never have thought of doing that, so thank you. I doubt that I'll be upholstering any furniture, but if I ever do, I'm going to rewatch this video about a dozen times beforehand. Absolutely fabulous! And such clear and understandable instructions Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for making this video.. I'm a single parent and I needed the small step by step instructions in order to redo old furniture.thankyiu so much
Cathryn I am a self taught upholstery person myself and I created a business back in the 80's and supported my family for many years. I don't do much any longer as now I am 75 and not as strong as I use to be. So I really only do it for family. Great job on your video
I cannot thank you enough for this tutorial. I took a upholstery class years ago and you brought it all back to me. I loved your tips and demonstration from beginning to end. Thank you so much.
This was an AWESOME project and turned out BEAUTIFUL. You did an AMAZING job. All three pieces look professionally done and you have great patience to do something such as this. Continue working with EXCELLENCE!!!
Your voice is so cheerful and calming at the same time. What a good teacher. Thanks so much for this video. I have a number of upholstery projects and I cant wait to get started.
You're not an amateur you're a pro! Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful tips. I'm going to try a more complex upholstery job. I've done simple wooden chairs with a simple seat cover.
Reverse engineering is exactly how I learned to reupholster. I gotta say if this video were available when I started figuring this out it would have saved me a ton of time and saved me from some mistakes. Great job explaining the process. This project really is doable! Go for it people she is really giving you valuable information. I learned a thing or two myself and I have done projects like this many. many times. GREAT TUTORIAL! Well done!
WOW you did a great job reupholstering those chairs. I have two chairs that I want to do, haven't decide on the color just yet. But seeing how easy it is, because I also sew, I better get the move on. Thanks again for sharing :) :) :)
I have been doing upholstery holster for 25 years and I learned something from you! I absolutely love your pulling clamp that you're using My hands hurt so bad when I'm done. I will definitely be using this. Thank you
wow- you did a brilliant job- that would have cost a fortune to buy new....you've transformed those chairs into their glory days- you enjoy your handywork- thanks for sharing x
EXCELLENT!!!! This has to be the very best instruction video that I have ever seen. I have reupholstered a lounge suite consisting of two chairs ,one 2 seater and one 3 seater couch -also just by removing fabric and trying my best - it worked well. I need to redo it again after many years ,but this time I need to replace all foam etc and springs. After watching you ...I am now confident that I will be able to do it ---it will be my new project for 2020 . THANK YOU for all the help.
This video is wonderful! There was no unecessary talking and the music was not loud and annoying! Very informative and the results are beautiful!! I am inspired and subscribed and can’t wait to watch more videos!!
You are an excellent teacher! Top notch! I have never reupholstered, but bought fabric in hopes to figure it out one day and recover the wing back chair I inherited. I am a single mom of two and don't have the finances to pay someone to do it. Your description of the kind of people you hoped to help with your videos...I fit in that category. After years of watching RU-vid and searching, I serendipitously came upon your video. We've been through difficult times and it is so nice and uplifting to have a beautiful, comfortable home...a haven. Thank you!
Heather Bates Good Monday Heather! I never know how God will use the gifts He gave me to encourage someone until I read a comment like yours. My Mom raised 5 kids. She was alone and creative. She got that trait from her Mom. So I learned early that a coat of paint and fabric could change anything. Pace yourself at getting the things you want and when possible avoid debt. We were made to create and I look forward to helping you WIN. Welcome to the family. Prayers, hugs and 😍, Cathryn
I love watching your videos...you are positively brilliant! I live on a very small fixed income, but I'm very creative....so I've taken my old and tired furniture and turned it into pieces that look very expensive and elegant. I've learned so many tips and tricks from watching your videos, as well as a few other ladies' videos...so I know that you don't have to be wealthy to have elegant and rich-looking decor. Thank you so much! Prayers & blessings to you! 😁💕🙏🏻
I understand Lisa. We have been in our home for 5 years and a few months and I have finally figured out what, how and where I like things to be. Yes, for various reasons, it can take a while. Thank you for being so candid. Cathryn
Those chairs look amazingly beautiful! You did a phenomenal job on reupholstering them! The fabric is so haute and chic! You are really mastering this reupholstery projects. Also that is a great idea to purchase your materials and tools as you see them. That is a great way to get the better quality tools and materials on a budget. I took a class for an entire 6 months on reupholstering and my work did to compare to the quality of yours...LOL! You are such an inspiration Cathryn! xoxo Tamela!
Hi Tamela! I am so happy to have finally finished these chairs and video. And I am truly appreciative of each kind comment. These videos may not go viral, but they help someone. I wish I had taken a class. But as they always say "Practice makes perfect". Hugs and love, Cathryn
This DIY video is amaizing I am watching it in 2019, but it is the most educational I have seen and you did take time to clearly explain and guide every step.It was long but worth it short videos don't quite clear all doubts so it is fabulous. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience but also investing your time for doing the job with us. I loved your video.
Wow! You explained this PERFECTLY. Straight to the point and very informative. I never thought I’d be able to do something like this because of how intimidating it can be for a beginner. You made me excited to try it. Great job!
I love your videos . You explain thing clearly and precisely. It was such a joy to watch and follow along with you. You should think about writing a book on how to do these things. I'm sure you will have no trouble selling a million copies in the first week. I look forward to more of your videos . God bless.
