I can't believe it's already been seven months!
Today, I'm sharing the upgrades I made to my $40 thrifted Riedell roller skates along with my overall opinions.

Nice score! So I ended up going to capital heights to Bikes and Skates (wonderful shop) and ended up getting the Riedell Angel 111 and switched the wheels to the moxi fundae’s on them so I can use on a few different surfaces. I like to go with the tried and true first, but I do feel like it takes more effort to put the boot on.. I thought it was because it was brand new..🤷🏾‍♀️. I took them to the rink last week and it was like skating on butter 😩 such a great pair of skates!!

Ahhh! Yes! I'm so glad you went there and got those! I literally swapped my Moonlight's to use the fundaes last week and 100% agree...butter~ I haven't used them at the rink yet and wondered how they feel there, so thanks for sharing! I hope you continue loving them :)

Heads up! Bont is having a sale until 8th October. Checkout coupon 'FLASH15' for 15% off. Bont Tracer plates are good entry level metal plates. Even comes in two versions, one NTS (no toe stop). I'm a newbie so take this for what it's worth. I did something similar to you except I converted Riedell ice skates to quads. I was scared I got the wrong size because they were so difficult to put on at first. But after I got them on, they felt surprisingly comfortable. The difficulty with putting them on translates to very good heel lock even with my laces loose. The boots become noticably more comfortable after half an hour or so of warming up and I haven't even gotten through the break-in period, which will probably take several sessions. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! We love a good coupon here lol I have the tracer plate on my Parkstars and didn't even think about them for these! I might actually need to consider those since I really like them. I didn't realize they have a NTS version, so thank you again! Also, I've always wondered what it's like converting an ice skate boot to quads with the hole alignments and everything. Good to hear they're working out for you!

@@SKTSHT Tracer plates are kinda slept on - 20° angle is pretty decent for all-around usage. The actual conversation is much easier than I imagined. All the hesitation came from determining proper plate, size, and placement. There's no choice but to drill new holes because blades and plates are so different and there's no plate mounting standard. Worse case scenario, unneeded holes can be easily epoxied. But in the end there wasn't a lot of choice in placement to be made because the heels are small and have so many nails in them. For the front I just centered by trying to achieve equal wheel poke out from both sides looking down. If you have a community near you there's bound to be some OG that can offer better guidance then me.
